Ok, Steve is either kept on the down low, or I don't understand. I've bass fished for 40 years, other guys may teach tips and tricks. I assure everyone what I learn from Steve's videos stands alone. I like other channels but if I could only have 1 this is it.

thanks for mentioning "slurp time". I've heard people say that bass always just suck the whole worm into the mouth at once, and while they may do that sometimes, most the time it takes a couple slurps in my experience

Yeah, I know it’s another gadget, but a number of years ago I picked up the Rapid fishing hook all. Like the bobber stop, it’ll keep the soft plastics from bunching up, will keep trailer hooks in place and saves me a bunch of $ on soft plastics.

Another trick slip a small, light weight, swivel onto line before tying hook on, nose hook soft plastic then slip other end of swivel onto hook and slide up to lure. Used it this way for years before the bobber and sinker stoppers existed.

I try to simplify by calling it a braid hook,or a floro hook.and fish the fine wire on mono or floro, and if its a hvy shank i stick with braid to drive those big wire beast hooks home. But always a lighter option of hook and line, and even jig head can get more bites by adjustment of fall rate, and profile. THX steve killer information, and details well explained. 👍

Steve another great video. Really like the sinker stop trick. Two other DIY hook pegs that you can do in a pinch. One, if your Texas rigging a soft plastic, you can take a wooden toothpick and put it through the eye of the hook and snip off the two ends. Plus the wood is porous and would help hold some scent. That's a tip I saw Shaw Grigsby do. It's cheap and toothpicks are readily available. A second one is using some heat shrink tubing, cutting one edge of the tubing to a point, slipping it over the hook eye and then using a cigarette lighter to heat the shrink tubing down so it's secure. Preferably a torch type lighter for more accurate work. The point in the heat shrink tubing needs to be facing the bottom or outside of the hook.

The best thing about those tips is they are super simple and offer an instant upgrade to Texas rig fishing. I was bad about using hooks that were too large for the longest time, but I tried to get away from that. It wasn't easy as old habits die hard, but I think I actually have quite a bit better hookup rates with smaller hooks.

I’ve definitely been experiencing the same thing. I used the sinker stop on a lot of hooks on the Mississippi this last week and was so very pleased with them as well.

A little pricey but I use the Mustad hooks with a keeper. They work great and keep the bait in place but no matter what type of keeper you use once the bait has been used a lot the tip will get mushy lol This is when the keeper helps the most. Good tip on the knot issue I always take a little extra on the tip to bury that knot in the bait.

@@SteveRogersOutdoors awesome, i'm looking forward to it! I prefer smallest diameter line I can get away with for any given bait type or situation for better lure presentations. It only makes sense to have same concept for hook sizes & guage wire size too. I look forward to seeing what size hooks to baits you use & how they each affect the baits. I've been trying to catch the big girl that jumped off a while ago still fishing same areas, no luck yet. She was visibility bigger than the 9lb 3oz I just caught July 23rd. I caught a 4lb in that area few days ago but no luck on tricking her again yet. I'll stay out there & keep trying...

Steve just saying, Bill Dance keeps the knot and the eye out of the worm on his Texas rig. Fact ! I always bury the eye and the knot like your tip. If your ever bored love to see underwater difference in action of both worms. In Florida as you know it's mostly a battle with weeds. I just never liked the knot and hook-eye exposed. Great vid as always...............Temps a dropping 🌲
