I'll keep a running comment here of information and updates on G-Helper and will try to keep that updated for those watching this video! Feel free to reply with any cool features/uses you've found for G-Helper! 1. Undervolting your GPU in G-Helper, further explained: imgur.com/a/hS8Pqy5 2. Core parking has been added to the Extra tab. So for those of you with an Intel processor (like the 13900H or Core Ultra), you can now park P cores or E cores. This can help with any compatibility issues with some older apps that don’t support P and E cores, and it can also help battery life by having fewer cores running. 3. OLED displays now have a DC dimming slider in G-Helper. This is for people who are sensitive to PWM flickering (if you know, you know) in OLED displays. It allows you to turn down the display brightness without PWM kicking in. 4. 2024 Asus ROG laptops have a new adjustable TGP feature, which is a big deal. This allows you to set a base wattage for your GPU before dynamic boost hits. Great option for vbios modding as well since this essentially acts as a “power slider” like the one in MSI Afterburner that only desktop GPU’s can use. It is now on G-helper as of v0.156 5. Any 2023 or newer ROG laptop now has the ability to switch color gamut and GameVisual styles within G-Helper directly. No longer do you need to open Windows Color Management like I did in the video or having to install the separate GameVisual app! Super convenient feature! 6. G-Helper FAQ page will answer most additional questions people may have! github.com/seerge/g-helper/wiki/FAQ

Totally agree. The fact that this is a passion project absolutely blows my mind. The quick actions, and intuitive interface and extra features are just mind-blowing. I uninstalled the Armory Crate and never looked back. One thing, I question the undervolting a little. I have moved mine down all the way to -30, so either I have a golden CPU or something isn't working as expected.
@JoshCravesTech10 ай бұрын
It's crazy, like Asus really needs to learn something from this guy lol. But yeah, undervolting will only work if you have a 7940HS, 5900HS, 6900HS, and sometimes on a 4800. It has to be some kind of Ryzen 9 CPU. But if you're applying the undervolt at -30 and it's working then you indeed have a god-tier CPU bin! The easiest way to check is to run Cinebench R23 (just do a single run on multi-core) with a 0 undervolt and then run it again at -30. The score should go up by like 1,000 points at least.

I recently bought a G14 3050 6Gb for productivity and light gaming, playing SWTOR, GTA V and older games the laptop would get incredibly hot and the fans were blasting at full power no matter what setting I changed in Armoury Crate, I ended up upgrading the SSD to 2tb, RAM & WiFi card upgrade and did a fresh install of windows with only using G-Helper. Disabling power limits and some fine tuning in G-Helper made this a completely different laptop. No longer running super hot and fans are more variable.
@motherflerkentannhauser815210 ай бұрын
Here's my understanding of "undervolting": CPUs run at higher voltage than they need out-of-the-box because manufacturers like to make sure, if you don't change any settings, the chips can run stably no matter what you throw at it. At worst, it runs a bit hot but it is assumed you'd use an adequate cooler and at least, it runs stably. But by testing you can lower the voltage to an "optimized" point where it runs at the same speed but draws less power and thus, produces less heat. But the lower the voltage, the higher the risk of instability. That's why it takes a lot of testing to find that "optimized" point. Any lower would cause instability or you'd have to lower the clock speed. This is the same reason you need to increase voltage when overclocking it to a speed it's not designed for.

@JoshCravesTech10 ай бұрын
Yeah he kind of explains it on the G-Helper page, but it's hard to explain without having an understanding of how undervolting works in MSI Afterburner. It's essentially the same thing as that. The lower your max clock speed, the lower voltage you are running the GPU at. But then you OVERCLOCK to gain back the performance of running at a lower voltage/clock speed, therefore you are getting the same performance at a lower voltage, which typically also means a lower temperature.

Gave it a shot and I have to say I'm extremely impressed One particular aspect that I ADORE is the CPU Temps Target. While I understand by design AMD APU/CPUs on laptops target high temps to achieve extremely high clock speeds, I'm not comfy with 90-95C in the most demanding of scenarios, and I can fight it with a rather loud fan which doesn't bother me but I feel I'd rather hit an approachable target. Unfortunately, my A15 with a Ryzen 7 7735HS doesn't seem to support Undervolting, as it does not show in the Advanced Tab Nonetheless, locking it to 65w and force locking the temps to 80C, I can still achieve decent performance and consistent 4.2Ghz during a cinebench run, so this is neat! Kudos to the creator

03:05 "Balanced" is the original name of this profile. I have an Asus ROG Strix Scar III (G731GW) and this profile inside Asus Armoury Crate was called "Balanced", then after some updates for some reason that i still can't comprehend they changed the name of this profile to "Performance". Lol that’s funny! Yeah at one point they had changed it back to Balanced for like a week. This was like a year ago I think, and then they immediately changed it back to Performance. I guess they want it to be a psychological thing, lol. Make people THINK it’s a high performing profile.

My laptop was almost always so hot it could start a cookout on the 4th of July. I downloaded G helper and kept silent and balanced stock for the most part besides undervolting both -10 since I usually have my gpu off on battery anyways (which drastically adds HOURS to your laptop battery time btw) and on Turbo I have the CPU boosted on efficient aggressive and I got the fans at 2800 minimum and going towards max at higher temps, and the laptop has been so much cooler and I can actually run my games at max settings now without worrying about blowing it up 💀. I might disagree on the GPU modes: if I'm understanding this correctly, "standard" mode does fire up the dGPU but still routes the display signal through the iGPU and in my testing, not only performance and wattage are limited on the dGPU, you also cannot use G-sync. And when you unplug while in standard mode, it doesn't turn off the dGPU either. So, I personally would run ultimate mode if I was going to game to get max performance, and optimized mode otherwise so when I unplug, it'd be in eco mode for max battery life.
@JoshCravesTech10 ай бұрын
On any model that doesn’t have Advanced Optimus or whatever AMD’s version of that is called (Smart Access Shift or something) then yes that’s true. However, with Advanced Optimus, you can be in Standard mode and still have everything route to the dGPU in Nvidia Control Panel by choosing “Nvidia GPU only”. This is essentially the same as rebooting into Ultimate mode but without having to reboot. Just a nice convenience. And unplugging, you can choose to switch into Eco to disable the dGPU completely or keep it in standard and let your PC decide when the dGPU should be activated. If you’re in Ultimate mode and decide to unplug, you’ll have to reboot again in order to move to Eco mode.

@@JoshCravesTech Ahh, I see. Asus designed their products with way too many features. They really thought of everything and I'm still learning how to use them! I'm still confused about this: if I'm in standard mode or optimized mode when plugged in, what's the difference between "auto select" and "optimus" in the display mode setting in Nvidia control panel?
@JoshCravesTech10 ай бұрын
@@motherflerkentannhauser8152 yeah it’s a lot, lol. So “auto-select” detects when you start a game and automatically switches you into dGPU-mode (Nvidia GPU only), and then switches you back upon exiting the game. Optimus is just your standard dGPU + iGPU mode, where the dGPU is active but all frames are sent through the iGPU to the display creating a small bottleneck in some games.

Thank you for another great video! I have a 2022 min-led flow x16 and never really understood how to switch between color profiles or if switching was even something I needed to do. Seeing that the 2023 models have a color gamut section made me remember this and now I really want to know how to access those color profiles. How can I get access to these color profiles on pre 2023 models?
@JoshCravesTech7 ай бұрын
You can't unfortunately. If it shows up in the newest version of G-Helper for you on the main screen, then you do have it. But if it's not there, then you don't. It's a feature from Asus that only applies to certain models. But tbh it is a bit niche. Mostly useful for those who want to explore sRGB color spaces in true sRGB, and not have colors ballooned in the DCI-P3 color space. A lot of people like that look though, so it's not for everyone to want to "wash out" your colors essentially by correcting it. Most color-sensitive programs like video and photo editors automatically compensate for this so there's no need to switch your color profiles there either unless you're using a program that doesn't have color management built in.

Armoury Crate sucked in low power laptop, ghelper is so good
@Vershal_Pal4 күн бұрын
I just wanted to ask only two things, if these are available in G-Helper then I will immediately install G-Helper app. (BTW still appreciate the devs to create such a de-bloated alternative for Armoury Crate). 1. I have ROG Strix G15 with 4 zone keyboard and 6 zone strip lighting. Can I customize these lightning within G-Helper app? I mean I have custom lighting in different zones of my laptop. Basically what I am asking is that can it replace Aura Sync as well? Because Aura Sync does not and will not work without Armoury Crate. 2. Can these power profiles can be used in different power plans in Control Panel just like what Armoury Crate does? If it does as mentioned in video then do create a tutorial for these please. Because I have some custom changes to help me increase my Battery longevity with less power draw. I also wanted to know how we can get incremental updates/driver updates just like Armoury Crate in G-Helper. Does it redirect to the asus website for the drivers and updates or will it download a file and install the updates automatically? And can we also rely on the updates that we'll get? Please answer these questions 🙏

@JoshCravesTech5 ай бұрын
Gray just means you would have to update that particular driver through the Microsoft store or through an external website, or through Windows update. It doesn’t mean that it’s outdated or anything. The large majority of the gray updates are drivers that will probably never need an update or will be updated automatically when the time comes

I saw a ton of Asus Laptop owners Recommending G-Helper instead of Armory Crate, I tried it on my TUF Gaming A15....It really freed out my Laptop out of a ton of heavy Asus services, but I started to experience keyboard backlight issues with G-Helper, Specially during sleep mode and Shutdown/ Startup, The Backlight turns white with AC, But with G-Helper it starts to give a flicker like it's about to blow up. I got really annoyed with it because I really like the backlights, so I came back to AC even though it is bloatware, I am enjoying using the native app.
@JoshCravesTech5 ай бұрын
Weird, it could’ve been just the sleep lights pattern it does? It’s usually like 3 or flashes then stops for a few seconds, then starts again. Which you can disable. But yeah you can always submit an issue report to the G-Helper dev on GitHub and he’d probably fix it quick
@chiranjalitha55965 ай бұрын

I’m dealing with severe battery issues when doing basic tasks. I use Ableton for music production. I’ll get estimated 1-2 hours. I feel like I should be getting at least 5. Seeing some people say they’re getting 7-10 hours with computing tasks. I’ve seen a lot of people say this helps remedy that. Has anyone had luck with this after uninstalling AC?
@JoshCravesTechАй бұрын
This should help, yeah. Install this. Uninstall AC (use the official uninstaller) and MyAsus, install this. Start with the Silent profile, make a custom one off of it (use the plus button as shown in the video). Start with a low PL1/PL2 of like 10W, run the screen at 60Hz, lower your brightness, maybe disable cpu boost, disable all Asus services, disable any unnecessary background apps, disable most/all startup tasks. Most importantly, run it in Eco mode when you're on battery. Waking the GPU (which Ableton will absolutely do) just wrecks battery life.

Firstly, Thank you so much for this video, This was an incredibly helpful for me as i am new the PC/Gaming laptop world, i have always been on consoles until last week I picked up an ASUS g14 4060, swapping it for the 4070 though due to a sale that was better. nothing bad regarding the 4060 its been fantastic. my question has nothing to do with G-helper, but you seem to have alot of knowledge and experience with Gaming laptop/PC and i wonder if you can help. Question : what is a good temp for the laptop to run. I've looked all over and I get conflicting responses, while gaming I've read 70-85 is good and anything over 90 is consider bad but I've also read that over 100 is where you should be concerned and anything under is normal and fine while gaming, if you or anyone here can provide some inside id really appreciate it.
@JoshCravesTech9 ай бұрын
Yeah the conflicting info is because it varies by CPU and GPU so much and what they’re designed to handle, as well as the chassis they’re in. So for a 4070 GPU and 7940HS CPU in a 14” laptop, the GPU is ok to reach up to 87C, but hopefully it stays under 85C most of the time. The CPU is okay to reach up to 95C and it will do that in spikes, but in games we want to see it under 90C most of the time.

I have a ASUS - ROG Zephyrus M16 GU603 Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i9 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - 1TB SSD. It's my first GPU laptop and I bought it for the purpose of running 3D software programs and animation rendering since my school projects kept on crashing on my old CPU laptop. I don't game at all. I am trying to work on my project in the Cascaduer 3D software but it keeps closing/ crashing on me with no heads up causing me to lose what I'm working on. This software runs on CPU only I believe and that's why it's taking up so much of my laptop memory resource. When I use other 3D software with GPU settings I don't have this problem. That means I need to higher my CPU and GPU settings? What should I set my CPU to be in Silent, Balance and Turbo mode? Usually I just use the default Armoury Crate setting, the Cascaduer 3D software, it sometimes would freeze on me, give me an error message of not responding but never just close on it's own. I wish I could copy the Armoury Crate Setting into G-Helper's setting but I don't even know how to read those settings to input it into G-Helper's setting. Looking at my laptop specs, can you recommend me CPU and GPU settings in Silent, Balance and Turbo mode? Also is MyASUS app necessary for the laptop to function correctly? I have a lot ASUS related processed running in Task Manager and I worry if I end the processes on them then my laptop would act up. I don't know what those processes even do.
@JoshCravesTech7 ай бұрын
If you hit “factory defaults” on any power profile then it goes back to identical to how Armoury Crate’s version of that profile is. Whichever profile gives you the least problems, I’d probably stick with that. MyAsus is not necessary. You can go into G-Helper like I showed in the video and hit “disable Asus services”. You don’t need any of them. If your software is crashing then you should look into if it’s the software compatibility with newer Ryzen processors. Try troubleshooting it. Run it in eco mode and see what that does. Run it in Ultimate mode and see what that does.

Great video as usual, a couple of questions that may seem stupid, n00bie or basic, but since G-helper is developed by a single unknown person; 1- How do you ensure that it doesn't have some kind of teeny tiny malware or spyware? And that the next update won't have one? esp. he releases so many updates, I'm sure no one looks into each line of code or performs a pen. test 2- This software controls everything in your laptop esp. in the electricity domain, so any little bug or glitch in an update may mean a harm to your computer or H/w, Are these risks you are all taking knowingly? Or are there answers and aspects to this that I am not seeing?
@JoshCravesTech10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! So yeah to answer your questions, your anti-virus/malware should pick up on something like that if it were to happen. I guess there’s no 100% way to guarantee it, but simply scanning it with an antivirus should do the trick if you ever feel concerned. And as for the second one, it doesn’t have as much control as you’re thinking. Remember that your laptop has hardware-baked limitations. Think of G-Helper as a simple control device. Like little sliders and knobs that control things that are already there. Going “beyond” your laptop’s limitations will just simply not do anything. You would have to likely physically modify your hack in and unlock your bios to go beyond those parameters. In my eyes, there are no risks, only benefits! It’s the same things that Armoury Crate does, but with some of the more hidden settings being revealed and given to the user so that you can truly customize how you want your machine to run, within its limitations!
@iKaBoZ82010 ай бұрын
@@JoshCravesTech Yes the features are awesome! The fn key, the prntscrn key..etc and the lower battery usage, but bare in mind that a lot of malwares/spying can be done on your computer without the conventional anti viruses noticing (correct me if I’m wrong) so AFAIK it’s based more on trust, which is easier to give to a large company that has a reputation at stake(and lawsuits) as opposed to a person where you can’t be 100% sure(or close) that you’re not taking a risk installing this on your machine
