Checks my list from October 2022. Turns out I did 8 out of the 10 things on your list since it was my first time in Japan. I didn’t have time check out Tsukiji (but I had good conveyer belt sushi at Sushiro, Sushizanmai, and Kura). I’m hoping to step my game up next time and try out set menus. I also didn’t have time to see the Meiji Jingu. But I did get to see the Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto which is just as nice. I’m hoping to go back in 2023. That’s a superb beginners list for first time travelers Ethan. All superb choices.’

I recommend you try to visit Meiji on the next trip, I think it's more peaceful than Kiyomizu-dera. It's different they both have their charm

Enjoying your channel since discovering it a couple of weeks ago. Mahalo (thank you) for the great tips and information. We are planning a trip this fall to Japan (the first time for my wife, and my first time back in nearly 40 years), so we're really excited about it. Your channel has given us a lot of great information and I believe will make our experience that much better. 真に感謝しております。🗻

I had walked through Sensoji around six in the morning before shops open and without the huge crowds. Feels good to have the place to yourself. You can choose to book in Asakusa as your first hotel. Visit the temple before sunrise when you deal with jet lag. You did mention this was one of the morning places to visit.

A top ten for Tokyo is really five with a revolving fifteen depending on your personal tastes. Why cause Tokyo is huge and it's charms may just be endless. That said I can't quibble with any of your choices. Tokyo is just so much more. 🗻🗻

Oh boy, Harajuku... it was the most crowded place I went to. You're not wrong - they had interesting looking food, kind of focused on sweets, but every single place had a really long line. I didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a crepe, so I went to Shin-Okubo and waited in a long line to get a Korean 'cheese-hat', or deep fried cheese corn dog thing... because I am a fan of both irony and fried cheese... and it was disappointing, the fried cheese. I've had better. Korea town is there, but be advised that the 'Korean food' I found is not spicy. Japanese people don't like spicy food, in general, and what I found was the Japanese version of Korean food - way too sweet, and not spicy at all. I haven't spent enough time in Tokyo to have great 'tips', but I can confirm or deny some things. When I go there, I'm just a guy doin' stuff on a limited time schedule. I can confirm or deny stuff. I think the Shibuya crossing is one of the most disappointing things to see, and it's definitely out of the way if you have no other business in that area - I'd say skip it. It only looks really impressive during rush hour I think/my opinion, and most of the time it's sort of crowded but it's not what people think of... Shibuya had the most cafes, and some high end shopping. I'm not saying don't go there. I'm saying don't go there for 'the crossing' (especially if you have no idea what time it's actually busy/interesting to look at) and then feel like you've seen it, and leave. I think most adults traveling without children should visit Kabukicho at night, in Shinjuku. As a foreigner, it's 100% you will get harassed by touts constantly (they are Nigerian mafia and they work for Yakuza - NEVER go to the places they suggest), and you'll see some seedy things, but in a safe way that you'll only see in Japan - the balance of this type of place but safe. There's a lot of good food there, but watch out for 'door charges'. As a solo traveler, I'd be curious about things 'to do' in Tokyo. What I mean by that is, yes, you can walk around, look at things, eat, go to a museum/zoo/aquarium. What about, uh, like in America I can go to a bar and play pool. I can go miniature golfing. I can go to an arcade (if I can find one) and play video games. I can go to a this, and ______ that. Anything but crane games that is. Have you got any tips about things you can more actively do, not just observe? Come, park, eat, see, and leave through the gift shop can be interesting, but eventually...
@NinjaMonkeyguy
@NinjaMonkeyguy Жыл бұрын
That's a good question, I think I tend to gravitate to local izakayas, Arcades, food and events like festivals. Im usually always on the move so I tend to "observe" a lot
