I'm actually super impressed with your videos. I have nothing against build videos for games where people are just like "here's what you put on, here's what you do, profit". but there is something really nice about the way you not only showcase a cool build but explain certain choices and offer alternatives so people understand the process of build crafting and maybe even come away from this video with tools or ideas to make their own builds.

To each their own but I prefer the former of the two options you gave. Give me the key points of the build and I'll use my own imagination to explain choices. To me its like adding sound effects in am audio book. Imo it isn't more inmersive it takes personal creativity out if the experience.

Just to note, you don't have to wear the Spellcrux Amulet all the time. Unless you need to restore the spell slot in combat, you can just put it on when you need to restore the slot, then take it off once you've used it

Truth, you can don jewelry even in battle at no cost to actions. You can even swap it from characters in the party inventory screen, I've done this with the amulet that gives you misty step.

IMO, it sounds like Kelemvor is the opposite of what you'd want. As a vampire lord, raising dead, you're leading them astray instead of on to their final rest.

Buffs like Aid and Heroes’ Feast are even more important to use if you take the Spore Druid approach there, as fungal zombies only have 9 HP base. It’s easy to mix and match those with Animate Dead ghouls as desired since the fungal charges don’t overlap with spell slots.

Vampiric Touch pairs better with a Life Cleric because it triggers Disciple of Life which means you heal twice.

Interesting concept. I think I'm going to borrow parts of this, but go druid instead of cleric. Since in Dracula (and Strahd von Zarovich for that matter) vampires can turn into animals, being able to wildshape seems like a good mimicry of that.

@@italianspartacus So far it's actually worked pretty solid. Casting spells for a while until health gets low, then shifting into a bear or wolf has been a surprisingly effective strategy.

@@ibrahimozdemir8788 So far the build is only level 4, so currently I'm doing an origin run as Astarion with two levels in Moon Druid and two levels in Necromancer Wizard. I'm planning on going for wizard levels for a while, but the end goal is to get 4 levels in druid to get the Dire Raven wildshape, and the rest into wizard.

Oh, wow! I did intend to go with a full-on Necromancer build first, but this Vampire Lord build looks amazing! I may have to respec as this looks awesome and I think it'd be more fun than the pure Necro. I'm only at level 4 and haven't gotten to Animate dead yet, so I may hold off to get the full Necro experience before I do, but I'm definitely bookmarking this one for sure!

I like the theme build ideas. I’ll be honest I had no idea you could actually become a vampire. I haven’t seen much of his story because so can’t stand him, rogue or not he’s still level 2 for me. A fellow drow lover, I see you too are a man of culture.

I reached the conclusion that the Half-Elf/Drow Guild Artisan was the most flexible basis for a Tav, simply because they cover most bases that might be missing on classes. Light armor and shields, for classes that don't get armor and/or shields. Persuasion, for classes that don't get it. The most important proficiency in the game for Tav. Darkvision. Nuff said. Insight (and Stealth if Half-Wood Elf) good proficiency. Weapons, Halberd, Glaive, Spear, Pike. Not a huge selection, but useful, for example on Clerics that get heavy armor, but not martial weapon proficiency. Not the best options, but at least they are options. Extra movement or racial spellcasting, depending on choice. The extra movement is good for everything, while the racial spellcasting tends to push you towards an intelligence or charisma build, but none of them are bad. In BG3, where you're not fixed into a particular build the way you are on the tabletop, having a flexible base class saves some headaches when respeccing your Tav.

Best vampiric themed split: 6 Necromancer 6 Swords Bard. DEX focus for rapiers. If you want to use shield remember to go half-elf or human.

Funny Idea here. I used the Duelwield Feat in my War Cleric/ necromancer build to Wield Markoheshkyr and the Staff of cherished Necromancy you get from the Mummy Lord in Act 3 if you kill him. The Staff granst you a Buff that Reduce the Spell Slot cost of any Necromncy Sell to zero, after you kill someone. So you can go crazy with it.

Generally in DND lore kelemvor is the opposite he wants the dead to rest in peace at the appropriate place and does not like undead as they are against his domain

Fun build, I enjoy that you do not make super min/max builds but rather ones that are usable but fun. Another fun Vampire Lord build is Eldritch Knight/Necromancer Wizard If you are willing to sacrifice level 6 animate dead on the necro, you can put 7 levels into EK for War Magic. This lets you cast offensive Necromancy spells whilst having a melee attack as a bonus action. This build is definitely more suited to the melee Vampire lord but feels really cool

If you're ok with only 2 feats, I guess going 6 necro wizard and 6 spore druid is the most undead build possible. Edit: for equipment the Staff of Cherished Necromancy is the only option in my opinion

One reason I personally would have a second staff in my offhand is, if I am a Necromancer. I'd like a staff that would increase the DC of my spells. Pairs well with the Cherished Necromancy.

10:43 this might just be me, but I’ve found a bug. Where if I have spirit guardians up, then cast sanctuary on myself or a party member. Spirit guardian disappears. Could I get an explanation?

It's because they are both concentration spells and you can only concentrate on 1 spell at the time. If you have a companion that also has access to sanctuary, cast it on yourself with them

Does anyone know if Aid stacks and works on the undead? I’m very curious to see how many hit points we can get on how many undead :) just use all our level 3+ spell slots on undead and level 2 spell slots on aid?

aid doesn't stack afaik. You can't for instance use aid from an amulet and then have your cleric use aid to increase your hit points by a lot. Only the aid that is first used increases hit points, even if later aids that are used are upcasted. It does however work on undead. So You could use one of your 4th or 5th level spell slots on aid to increase the health of all of your zombie bros and ghouls by 15-20 HP, which doesn't seem like a lot, but when you have over a dozen summons + your other party members, translates to a lot more survivability.

Interesting. I never really think about the benefits to individual wizard classes. My wizard cleric is usually one level of wizard just to learn the scrolls, all the rest, focusing on the cleric classes.

At level 2 Evocation and Divination give cool bonuses. At level 6 Necromancy and Divination are good. Only schools worth going 10 are probably Evocation (but Draconic Sorcerer is probably better) and Abjuration (immortal build). Level 10 Enchantment would be cool but falls flat when Sorcerer is available.

​@@cyrylkowalczyk9392 In my opinion necro has the best features. Grim harvest is brutal. Should work with all necrospells, even other classes. But never testet it. Additional undead is nice too. But it comes very late and I don't know, if it could be combinated with other classes if spelllevels don't get raised simultaneously. Don't know how it works in bg3. But am looking forward to try it all 😅

That calculator isn’t made for bg3. It’s made for dnd 5e. And it’s not even accurate for bg3 for the half casters anyway.

@@xTwist_ It is accurate for half casters and half caster/full caster multiclasses in BG3. But yeah, it was made for 5e. Larian fixed the half caster levels rounding up for spellcasting when multiclassing a few patches ago I believe.

Kelemvor doesn't fit at all for a deity with the build because he views undeath and undead as an abomination and a violation of the cycle of life and death unlike his predecessors, from most recent to the original holder of the position as God of Death and the Dead: Cyric, Myrkul, and Jergal

EDIT: no mention of Aid spell? for shame. AID not only buffs the hp of summons by a LOT, but its one of the very few things that can heal undead. respect to your friend sparty! I too rocked a spore druid necromancer for my DURGE play. she was awesome. I like this build, Id say its more caster than mele but thats not a bad thing. a good alternative would be 6 bard(swords)/6 wizard(necro) - for a lighter quicker more deadly in mele vampire - no AID though, so less hp on summons. For my astarion I did 1 rogue/6 bard(swords)/4 cleric(war)/1 wizard. lvl6 spells including animate dead and extra attack as well as being my party rogue. FYI - create undead (the mummy) is a lvl 6 cleric only spell - its lacklustre though.

@@phoenixdragon1620 certainly. As you are in act one I can tell you what I did in that time point. I was 1 rogue/x bard in act 1. When I got to 6 bard I picked up my wizard level to make it rogue 1, bard 6 wizard 1 some point in act 2 I think. When I picked up the gloves that set your dex to 18 I did a respec on my stats to give me better charisma and Int. but now dumping dex as i have the gloves. Now I was on the hunt for scrolls for wizard - partiularly animate dead and haste. Then as I went into act 3 i got my warpriest levels for a total of 1 rogue/6 bard(swords)/1 wizard/4 cleric(warpriest) for gear I had 2 hand crossbows, 1 finesse sword and a shield.I wore armour that gave me my full dexterity - theres a few pieces of medium armour that does this and all light does. With my bard spells, I made sure to pick the mind conrol type spells to 'mesmerise' people like a vampire does. For feats I took warcaster and sharpshooter. and with my musical instrument violin. My over all philosophy on making the build was I wanted to copy all the vampiric powers from the vampire le'Stadt (queen of the damned movie and the Anne rice books) So that meant controlling the dead(animate dead), stepping through shadows (misty step), Unnatural speed (haste), flight (fly), and mind control (various bard spells). @@phoenixdragon1620 well I kept the rogue because Astarion was my trap buster - so that is 100% up to you. going 2 wizard and dropping the rogue lvl may be a good choice. same goes for getting 5 cleric. all viable, up to you!

Actually Kelemvor is not evil god, not even close. never played a cleric in the game so I don't know if there's option for it, but eevil god of dead you have Myrkul who was a necromancer who was at some point god of dead and is pure evil god, or even Cyric who if I remember correctly killed the god of death Myrkul and took over, that was before Kelemvor took over that Domain, that was during the time where there was wild issues with magic in the realm. but people should still be able to take his patronage as god of death. that is all my knowledge from back before 4.0 which we are now in 5.0 so I'm not sure if there were any changes to the realm gods. either way Kelemvor is not evil and should never be think of as one if you looking at it from rp precpective, better have a necromancy god or such. As another note, if you haven't there is a series of great novels about the raise of Cyric, Kelemvor, Mystra from being humans to finding the gods and taking over during the time of trouble. great read. first book is called Shadowdale by Scott Ciencin.

Cantrips are indeed spells, they're just level 0 spells! :) so this would apply to eldritch blast

@@italianspartacus Thanks, I'm just seeing a lot of weird conflicting information about what classifies as a spell and what doesn't. I don't remember what it was but something gives a boost to elemental spells but the creator of the video said it didn't help things like acid splash because cantrips are not spells. I was so confused.

Champion of Kelemvor being a bad-ass undead may be a stretch, but you could justify it. Kelemvor didn't know where to put you, so now you are undead undead hunter. It's cause you were so super bad-ass... until the tadpole made you level 1. Seriously, as a drow, Lolth. Duergar have a god. Half-orcs have a god. Just look at the wiki and pick an evil god of war domain for anything else. Bonus if death domain (not available) is part of that deity's purview. Since we're doing an 8/4 split, why not go sorcerer 4 and twin your summons? No problems with gods that want the dead dead either. Does twin work on summons?

No mention of Staff of Cherished Necromancy? Really? The absolute must-have for any necromancer of any kind? It can let you cast a necromancy spell of any level for free. Free undead minions. Free Vampiric Touch. Free Inflict Wounds, Free Blight. Etc.

Why bother with Sacred Flame - which needs Wisdom to be useful - with a low Wisdom? Spells like Sacred Flame, or Bane (like you mention) use your Cleric spell-save DC which will be based on your wisdom (8 + prof + wis mod). So, with Wis 10 you're starting with a DC of 10. This means for SF any character with a Dex of 10 have 50% chance to succeed. 50%. That's crap. Not worth it. Choose better cantrip that doesn't need attack/save.
