Had such a great time with book. Annie is probably the best bad guy I have read and actually scared me as something that could happen.

I watched the movie a few times, but I’ve never read the book. You sold me on the house being a character and representation of Annie. I’m also forgiving of some plot conveniences if I’m totally hooked into the story. Great review!

Misery is fantastic. Annie Wilkes is such an iconic figure of the ultimate example of toxic fandom - and years before the internet as we know it. It's King at his finest.

She is one of those characters I will think about forever. Just masterful work by King.

Tom, I don't know if you've seen Troy Tradup's booktube video where he shows of this 50th anniversary edition of Carrie. It is being sold on the Blackwells website, and they deliver to the States. Plus, the price is very reasonable. Happy reading, my friend.

My wife is the Steven King reader, but I imagine I'd enjoy the books if I also enjoyed the movies. I know he's pretty hit and miss with his catalog, so I can't wait to see which ones you like. Kathy Bates is awesome in the movie.

Misery is a fantastic read; easy to recommend. It is one of those books that it's hard to imagine anyone not liking. Easy 9/10 for me. Btw, this is a fabulous review of it. 👍

@@TomOrange Yes, and for better or worse Kathy Bates is amazing in this role. After watching the movie, you will not be able to think of Annie as anyone else but the famous actress. Must see adaptation.

Misery was really good. I read it last year and gave it 3.5 stars. Annie makes that story for me while I found Paul extremely unlikable. I really wish we got to read more of the Misery chapters Paul was writing, that was my favorite part. It is not my favorite Stephen King book though, that honor remains with Pet Sematary...for now lol.

See, I’m not sure I want to read this book because the plot is so similar to Gerald’s Game, and I haaated Gerald’s Game. The premise was so intriguing, but the story itself was slow and boring. Worried Misery will be the same
@TomOrange

I have not read Gerald's Game so its hard for me to say much but I think the situation of how they are stuck is very different. It is a slow build but the tension starts high and only goes higher. Happy reading!

this story is based on what happened to me. stephen king stole my manuscript which was supposed to be a auto-biography but he stole it and took credit for it

My theory is that probably loneliness has made Annie who's she is? Just a thought.
@TomOrange
@TomOrange 3 ай бұрын
Its a good theory and Im sure the loneliness made things worse but she was doing awful things long before she was alone in CO. If you remember her book she had things dating back to her childhood.

@@TomOrange it's been like 15 years since I've read it but do remember that part as well. It is a book that stays with you. What I love about Annie is that you don't know what she's capable of doing.
