I just received my blue one with text. I bought it pretty much on the back of this review and I’m not disappointed. I like the design and although it is large, it wears well on my small wrist. The most impressive thing is the build quality. I’ve got other branded, more expensive watches and this blows them out of the water. It can only really be appreciated when you hold it in your hands. The machining brushing and polishing are all so sharp. The tolerances on the dial are impressive. There cant be more than a couple of hair widths between the end of the turbine blades and the housing they are mounded in. It’s impressive and beautiful. I’ll definitely be looking at the other watches this brand produces. (For those concerned about the size, I’d say it wears very similarly to my Casio G-Shock 2100. If you can wear that watch, you’ll get away with this one.) Thanks for the review.

Received mine a week ago . Love it , went for the blue sterile , the anchor logo would have been nice but maybe inappropriate for a pilot watch . A larger triangle at 12 would work but might impose on the branding on standard versions. As others have said mine has a different movement and sterile back . Thanks for pushing me over the edge , again !

Mine arrived this afternoon. All things considered, this is one fine watch. If a big name brand was on the dial you are correct about the piece costing well over a thousand. I'm not wild about the strap, but what's here will hold me until I find something else. The Hruodland is my first ever AliExpress purchase. The turbine small seconds is a very nice touch and fun conversation point. I plan on keeping this beauty forever.

I got a replacement (as the first one had an issue) and I agree with you 100% - it's my favourite watch, even amongst my watches costing 20 times more. As you say, reduce to 41mm, and offer a swiss movement, and I'd be first in the queue.

I just got mine today! Someone had a post a couple of weeks ago on Reddit and thought I'd check in again with Hruodland. The movement in mine is different it's the ST-3600. No more boxes, it came very unceremoniously in an orange plastic box with Hruodland sticker, no manual, no reg card, nothing. It was shipped in a Styrofoam box which was smart. The exhibition case back metal bezel has zero engraving on it, no Hruodland, no Turbine, no Aviator, no Sapphire, no Ref #, no water resistance engraving. Overall, I'm happy with it.

OK, come to find out, if you order a 'Sterile' version of this watch... both the dial face AND the metal bezel of the case back have no branding/lettering/engraving at all. So, this is the error that they admit to. When assembling the watch they put a sterile case back on by branded dial watch. I'm looking forward to seeing how the 'Heimdallr Diver Watch Store' handles this. I'll keep you posted.

OK, so Heimdallr contacted Hruodland and Hruodland has switched their case back to a sterile case back. This is from Heimdallr: "we just have confirmed it with the Hruodland brand side. they said this case have upgraded the new case. the finished is better than the older one. the thickness is smaller than the old one. so the caseback have more levels. the engraved words been canceled. only have the sterile caseback for it now "

@@WATCHingJames Just found a video of the original IWC turbine and the back of that is also complete sterile. Had mine a week and it's not lost or gained a second!! And the dial is VERY true to the original turbine but not the reissue which, despite the tourbillion, does not look as nice to my eye.

Wow ! I'm impressed by the design and the whole watch. The propeller (l'hélice) is such a neat feature. I'm gonna show your video to one of my patients who was a bush fire combat pilot with the famous Canadair. When he retired he got a a real propeller in wood as his retirement gift from the company he had been working with. He put it in his condo and it is a neat feature too. What a beauty. I can see and hear the appeal of this one. Just the "crack," when you pulled out the winding stem to adjust the time, was that of something that had been well constructed. I wanna say that this is a "Unitas based" movement. Love the click they produce when being wound. Glad the strap turned out well for you. Very nice watch, I can see the attraction. It's easy to criticize a strap too soon. I did the same with a Pulsar Solar Chronograph strap, looked lovely black leather and yellow at the back with yellow stitching, but so stiff I thought to get rid of it. But I held on to it, and basically rolled it up tightly on both sides a few times every time I put it on, and it's now super comfortable and rolling it up did no damage whatsoever, no cracking, no creases, so obviously it's pretty good quality too. The watch is good one, I can see why they sell out. Have a good new years eve James. P. S. There's a possibility that the turbine hands are aluminum James. We have small little flywheels in some of our instruments and it's probably easier to make from metal rather than plastic.. 🙂

I just bought this one (blue with text on dial) during the Aliexpress sale. The turbine is more beautiful than the original one from IWC. Mine comes with the less decorated ST3620 (instead of this ST3621) and with no text on the caseback, choices that make it look more similar to the real thing. Thanks for the great review! I have not tested it. But have found I get a couple of days from a full wind. I am careful however not to over wind it so that also affects how long it lasts.

I think yours looks better. In yours, the button on the strap is properly aligned and the stitching is also under the buttons on the strap. Not with me and you have a letter on the back case with depth and serial number and the movement is different, you have the ST3621 and I have ST3620 By the way, my turbine blade looks better, but I like yours better, I think that's why they are now in more production. nice video

Hi James. Thanks for the review. I went from never really having heard of them to buying one this afternoon off the back of your enthusiasm. Now I just have to wait..... ( can't!! 😂). One query. While looking around for best deals , I seem to be coming across 2 distinctly different movements. One with a star engraving and a lot of detail and another with just block horizontal lines. Any idea what I'm seeing? Initially thought it might be clones / 'homages' but suspect not. Have gone for blue with logo dial 😁👍

After living with it for about a month I do love it, but have to give it 4 stars because it’s not comfortable enough to be a daily. The strap is still kind of stiff and pinches at times and that gigantic crown leaves a mark on my hand. But I deal with the minor discomfort because it looks so darn good

I have pulled the trigger for the exact same model because of your review (and probably the only review that is available for this watch). Just received it 2 days ago and extremely happy with the finish and the uniquely fun character of the dial. I have been looking for a "fun" pilot style watch and finally found one. I bought one from Ali but all the listings now show a cheaper movement. No Seagull ST3621. And no writing on the caseback bezel. Why is that? The one I received has a plainer looking movement and no writing on the caseback "Sapphire Crystal" and "Hruodland"

Its here! Ive been wearing it nonstop for the last 2 days. Tbh the strap is a bit sharp but i imagine the sharpness will fade also i didnt get the same movement. A pretty eye catching watch. I am a bit of a sucker for fliegers though. That turbine second hand is very interesting, but I think I'd like it even more if one blade was a different color or shade from the others, as opposed to just a red dot. In fact, I'd like the blade to be slightly different, and the dot to be lumed, in an ideal universe. The case finishing is nice, and love that it's a sapphire sandwich. Wish it was a bit smaller though, which is possible as I have a very nice case with this movement in it that is 41mm in diameter, and 49mm L2L.

It’s really my only thing I would want changed. Make it a touch smaller. But I think it is limited by the size of the movement.

@@WATCHingJames I've built a watch using this same movement and a very nice case that measures in at 40.5mm with an L2L of about 49mm. I think the problem is the dial size here. A smaller case would probably require a smaller dial than the one used here, which would effect the overall balance/proportions of the dial layout.

I bought this watch, with the blue (very subtle) dial, in the 11/11/23 sales for around $137. Just received it. It's all you described. An awesome looking watch! The case back is plain and the movement has simple parallel engraving marks, not the more detailed version you have. I preferred the logo version over no logo. I love homage watches and the value they offer but still prefer to honor the actual watch's maker. When I saw your review, I had to get this watch. I used to work at Rolls-Royce early in my engineering career, on jet engine test rig designs, including Rig #40 used for those chicken ingestion tests on fan blades! Perhaps a future update could replace the turbine's red dot with a little chicken! 😂😂😂

I also note the strap actually has rivet heads on both the upper and lower sides, which your's did not on the underside. Also quick-release springbars. I always apply leather conditioner to a new watch strap and bend, and twist, the crap out of it to break it in. My strap is beautiful and flexible from the get-go.

Yeah looks like this watch now ships with different version of the movement (which I like better), but a potentially cheaper strap. I just got mine and the strap is OK, but I was looking forward to the one shown in the video with the shorter buckle piece, because this lets you put on an IWC style or other folding clasp and have it sit centered on your wrist. New version strap has longer buckle strap, cheaper looking rivets, not very stiff leather that marks up easily, and what I think is vinyl backing. Oh well can't win em all.

@@WATCHingJames It arrived today, It looks great and I find the process of winding very therapeutic. I have a couple of other handwind watches , but this feel more soothing for some reason. The only suprise was that the strap doesn't seem very long, I am on the second to last hole. Great recommendation.

I have not heard of a smaller version. I would be surprised if they did a smaller one. And if they did I doubt it would be the same. I can say that now owning and wearing this one a lot. I am actually now happy that it is a bit bigger. Mostly because it feels like this style should be this size.

Legibility is a must for me, if I cant tell the time at a glance, then it becomes a glorified Bracelet instead of a watch. However even though this watch ticks all the boxes, apart from the lug to lug is risky for my 6.5 inch for my long skinny boney arms.

I was worried about the size too but have found it to wear really well. I have 6.75 inch wrists. It’s not a small watch. But I feel the size suits the design. It has actually also taught me that I can wear bigger watches than I thought I could wear. It is dependent on the particular watch however.
