That's a really neat system and simple. Would also be easy to mod it to upscale it, for an off grid homestead. Have a float sensor in the first bucket and have a pump fill it from a larger tank, then have the bottom one drain into another larger tank which would then feed the plumbing for the homestead.

I like that idea! Self sustainability

I have been using this system for the last 3 years it's a lovely system. I clean my well water for drinking. Colored water comes out crystal clear with no smell or taste

@@John-N797 That's awesome! I think a lot more people could benefit from this system. I don't hear much about it

Can you nest the two buckets together to save space?

Yep!

Great video thank you for making it. I think it would be safest to set up the system and use a 3rd bucket or container to fill the gray water bucket and not dip the clean water side of the filter in a contaminated water source.

I'm glad you liked it! That is a good point and makes a lot of sense. I think in the future I would do that

I just got mine. I won’t use unless my community says don’t use tap water. Will the filter stay new even if not used.

Yup! It should be fine

Does it have some type of indicator to tell you when it needs replaced? And you say the bucket holds about how many gallons?
@AlexHatlevig4 ай бұрын
It does not and most filters actually do not have indicators. Usually when the filter is abnormally slow or you know that it has filtered to it's limit then it is time to change the filter. The bucket holds just about 4 gallons of water

Hey, thanks for the review! I'm looking for something I can use with brackish water. Ideally for drinking water, but would still be useful if it can turn coastal alligator pond water into something to shower and cook with. Any info on how it handles salty water? Perhaps not sea salty, but still pretty salty.

Does it fliter out viruses?
@AlexHatlevig9 ай бұрын
From what I can find online, the Hollow Fiber Membrane filters that this uses "are able to remove a wide range of contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, and particles." That's what Google told me

Like to see it tested with lab results like the clearly filtered does. All these filters don't always do what they say. Thx.

No. But you can boil your water . Go to epa.gov and they give great info on other methods to kill viruses.

I agree! It looks like the brand does a lot of work in areas of poverty to help give people access to clean water

Thank you for the review! Be careful when gathering the water. You should wipe it off so none of the bad water drips into the good bucket. Probably worth using a pail to gather into the source bucket.
