Wow! It feels surreal seeing myself in your video. Thanks so much for taking the time to train and just hang out with me, Matt. Something I’ve just been realizing as I reflect on our meet up is just how much you actually care about me and my development. Looking back and seeing how much effort you put into making sure I was on the right track - from the diet plan, to the workout regime, to just encouraging me on my journey - I’m beyond grateful and honored to have been chosen to be a part of the Elite Challenge and a part of your life. To all of Matt’s viewers: Just by watching his videos, you may or may not understand how much he desires to help others. That selfless nature is a rarity in our society, and I think it’d be a shame not to capitalize on the lessons and ideas he models and teaches. He is just as authentic on camera as he is in real life. I just have to say, screw the views Matt, this content is worth gold to aspiring soccer players. It shows a driven and disciplined mindset that is required if at all the plan is to go pro. When your doing the varied gate drill u should change the formation of the cones every 5/6 times that way u won’t be able to memorize it and u will be forced to get ur head up

When you gave that advice to that kid about playing on the wing was good. I also think that he should watch a ton of videos that show players play that position as he might learn better by watching first than just doing.

Hey Matt, as I can See you train really often during pre season. Further you do a lot of lifting and strengthening training. However the most important thing in soccer is to be fit and prepared on match day. So my question is where is the difference between your pre season and your during season trainings schedule? Do you also train twice a day during season?

If there was a single player training tournament, you’d win it for sure。 dude you need to play football with others. Go and play with amateurs if no professional football is available at the moment, your skills are good, physique is great, your touch is not bad. Now you need to improve your dribbling, vision, comfort on the ball, decision making, a lots of other stuff which can only be improved by playing with others on almost daily basis. Brazilian style. Anas Mahboob what? I’m saying that there’s no point in giving him that “advice” because he’s already talked about what your “advice” was in videos. He’s experienced and knows what’s good for him. And you’re saying it like it’s easy to grab a pro player anywhere and have them train with him. With the other pro players he’s had training with him it’s not like it was easy to plan to have them

Grinding everyday is cool and all but I recommend more scrimmages if you can. There is no better teach than the game itself. Also I often progress the most, after I take a little break from soccer. You must look at your brain as a muscle that needs recuperation after long sessions of soccer. I hope that makes sense:D

Hey Matt, im a CM and i feel like i struggle playing off 1-3 touches and knowing where my next pass is, also my awareness, what could i do to improve on this? Love what you do been watching since you were in Germany looking for semi pro teams. Keep up the work

Hey Hassino, I know I'm not Matt but Matt's helped me a lot individually through the Elite Challenge and I also play center mid. I think one big thing to keep in mind while you're playing is to get your head up BEFORE you receive the ball - know what your options are. Then, make sure you focus on your first touch so that you can take a touch into space and release quicker in the transition through the middle. Hope that helps!

Matt, I also have a question. I've been struggling with endurance and stamina and I wonder whether it improves with football training/my weight training or whether I have to do a separate cardio session to improve on it

Timothy David hey, I’m not Matt but he’s worked individually with me. Endurance and stamina has to be built on it’s own - just playing/training will help a bit, but only through actually focusing on it will you really see improvements.

Strengthen your neck muscles will get your headers stronger. Also tell someone to through the ball a bit above your head and pass it Bach directly on his chest. That will improve you accuersy a lot and it will also be more realistic like a game sutuation

If you have pain while doing squats, make sure you're using the right technique. Matt has a lot of videos with him squatting, you could take a video of yourself and compare it to his form. Other than that, I think plyometrics are also very useful in gaining leg strength and explosiveness, especially for soccer. Hope that was helpful!

Put a limit on your touches. For example 3 touches forces you to look up for a pass.

Exactly what Dimitris said. Limit your touches and you'll have to look up for a pass. I also suggest trying to get your head up BEFORE you even receive the ball - just keep a mental note of that while you practice/play and just look up more.

The compression pants ur wearing can prevent ur muscles from healing if u don’t take them off after ur workout/training

That's actually not true. Compression pants help narrow your muscular area and increases blood flow which helps push out Creatine Kinase which often leads to muscular soreness and helps your body recover faster because it's getting blood to affected areas faster.

Super DuperAbel I usually play RB as well. I think it depends on where the ball is, where the players are running, and where your other defenders are. If your CB is covering the runner in the middle then you should naturally press out wide.

You ever train so much that your shoes get soaked with sweat in a workout? and then when you go hit your next workout a few hours later you have to put on your nasty ass wet shoes with your clean socks. Driving home with your shirt and shorts drenched in sweat while the AC makes it super cold. Waking up a little too late (11:00am) and having to workout in 100’ weather. Not having enough calories and training exhausted. Getting dehydrated and having both calves give out on you. SOCCER TRAINING the mega nightmare edition
