This makes no sense at all since it doesn’t use a stylus.
@TayoEXE16 күн бұрын
@Alex-ch2ud You don't need a stylus to play all DS games (most just used the touchscreen for inventory UI etc.), and even if you do, what would stop them from allowing you to buy a stylus? What do you mean "not at all"?
@Alex-ch2ud16 күн бұрын
@ Some of the best DS games are stylus only, TWEWY, Zelda Series, you can’t use a proper stylus on a Switch because it doesn’t have support for it.
@TayoEXE16 күн бұрын
@Alex-ch2ud What are you talking about? Capacitive styluses do work with Switch and are even encouraged for games like Mario Maker 2. In fact, Brain Training on Switch came with an official stylus. You absolutely can play with a stylus and the Switch successor can easily support this as well.
@Alex-ch2ud15 күн бұрын
@@TayoEXE A capacitive stylus is not a "proper stylus" like I just stated, it's just a stick with a bit of rubber on the tip that emulates the touch of a finger, and it feels really unresponsive and just lacks precision compared to the resistive touchscreen on an NDS or tablet with Active Stylus support, and don't get me started on the nightmare level of friction the rubber introduces... Try using a stylus on a Wacom Drawing Tablet and you'll realise that the Nintendo Switch DOES NOT have stylus support. Also It's not really a matter of support when it comes to capacitive styluses, as they will work exactly the same on any modern touchscreen ranging from phones to tablets.

This video shows exactly why that implementing that would be a bit tricky. Where's the second screen going to be put? Are we forced to play with them split screen on the TV or Switch screen? Would there be no bottom screen? How would they make it work without it? Or would we be forced to use a third party switch accessory to make it play vertical? Which the switch isn't designed to do. I'm not saying they can't do it, but it would be tricky.

tbh i think the experience with a stylus + the convenience of a foldable display like the DSi or really any 3DS/DS model far exceeds what an emulator on a switch can do. for me, i really enjoy the experience from the device itself, and i dont think a switch can really achieve that. not to mention the switch is a newer device and Nintendo is a lot more wary of modding, so a homebrewed switch is more likely to get bricked. i have 2 modded 3DSs and i still prefer them over a switch emulator lmao 😭

@@BigShirtGames honestly yeah. i can understand the desire for a better resolution and better colors. i definitely will always have a soft spot for my old childhood DS though. both devices have their strengths. i actually quite like the controllers on the switch, and the sturdiness the display has. i have an old 3DS XL as well, and the hinge is flimsy. i feel like the switch is probably a similar experience (in terms of the lay out) to the old chunky 2DS- which i adore, but i can imagine it being heavy. in my opinion its like a CRT vs a Flatscreen television for an NES. one is the original, but one is objectively better at displaying a quality picture. it’s down to personal preference. there isnt really one way to play 3DS games nowadays, considering how many models of DS exist plus the switch, and literally any other emulator. play how you wanna play, dude. 👍honestly i didnt really even consider the switch a way to play DS games, so i learned something new today lol.

Hmm... Maybe better overall, but definitely trading off some of the experience. Story time: I recently busted out my old Gameboys and DSs and such (some from my siblings who left them behind) and all of my 4 kids are immediately enamored with them despite us having 2 Switches, a PS4, and an Xbox series S. I'm not gonna lie their enthusiasm is convincing me that the feeling I'm also getting playing them is more than just nostalgia. There's something charming about the old ones, their games, their color pallets being so simplified like the GBA Pokémon games which are just masterpieces even better than the originals. I dunno, maybe the small size is part of it, but I think it's really the color pallets and hyper perfected pixel art combined with masterwork gameplay. Anyway. Story over.

I mean the worst that can really happen is getting your specific switch hardware banned. Nintendo doesn't ban accounts but if you had a switch with pirated games, they'd probably ban your specific switch. If you're just using homebrew apps and emulators you should be fine. If you have a gen 1 switch, there's almost no reason not to mod it. It's easy and takes advantage of a hardware exploit that Nintendo can never patch. If you want to use an oled switch like in this video, you need to hardware mod it which is safe if you pay someone to do it. I'm an electrical engineer and I still donked up the first oled switch I tried it on. Would recommend just paying someone to do it. I don't see much advantage to waiting until the end of the consoles lifespan though. With the potential of switch 2 being backwards compatible as well, I don't see the switch being taken offline any time soon.
@zues1215104 ай бұрын
I've been using my hacked switch for 4 years and it isn't banned and works fine, it runs on emunand with the serial numbers wiped off when I use any modded software. I think older consoles that don't require hardware mods are not expensive so it might be worth a look.
@Alexander-pq2pr3 ай бұрын
It's surprising how little can go wrong actually and there is tons of support and guides on how to set it up. You basically create something called an Emunand which is basically another interatiom of your switch software inside your switch, so it's like 2 in one, the other side of your switch remains unmodded and can use online, and the Emunand is modded and has DNS blocking in place which blocks all Nintendo servers and links, so even if you accidentally opened the eShop on your modded side, you can't even access it. It's quite interesting and works very well, I highly recommend it.

Is there a way to play 3ds games? And for Skylanders, would you be able to use the right joycon as the portal like in the official imaginators port? :0

Wow, last time i played NDS on my switch was via switchroot, good to know it can run properly on horizon now. Might need to get on this!

Honestly, this is cool and all, but the biggest problem with playing DS games on other devices, is the lack of a *resistive* touchscreen with a stylus. Playing on a capacitive touchscreen, where you have to plonk your fat fingers, and obscure the picture, just doesn't quite work right (same with those fat styluses for the capacitive screens).

Looks pretty cool. I don't think 3DS games would look good though since they have a wider aspect ratio, but for DS games this is pretty perfect!
