I started reselling after I discovered reselling videos on KZbin as a way to bring my husband out of a depression and for us to become closer by having a shared hobby. He had just retired after working since age 15 and did not know what to do without work. He was very depressed and just laid in bed all day every day. One day, I made him watch one of your sourcing videos and that sparked his interest. We started watching reseller videos and he decided it would be a great hobby for us. We started reselling and now he jumps out of bed every sourcing day, ready to go to the garage sales to see what he can find to resell. It has given him back his good mental health. He watches every one of your videos now. So do I.

My motivation is to have a way to support my family that fits my life and theirs. I don't want to be rich, I want to have "enough." That causes me to make different choices than other people in the reselling world - I'm not chasing pennies or dreaming of being big. Life changed for me after COVID. I'm hearing impaired and I used to be in big corporate IT, but since my industry went remote, I can't read lips any more and I can't be as effective as I want to be. Reselling fits my wants and needs. Reselling isn't the same to everyone, but what it definitely is - is flexible. It can be so many different things and help so many people.

My motivation is the thrill of the hunt and doing research, learning about glass, pottery, clothes, etc. Of course Im in it to make money, Ive been disabled for years, now 69, in constant pain, doing it all myself. I have 600-800 items listed at any time which is about all I can store and remember where they are. Its getting harder but I do love it when you see an item that you know has value or the surprise when researching an item that turns out better than you thought. Hoping to hang on for a few more years because SS isnt enough to live on and money from ebay helps so much.

Well. i just help my hubby a little when i can as i have a bad back but it makes me happy to go out and pick up things for him to sell. It keeps me busy and keeps my mind off of the pain and the loss of the job that I absolutely loved.

My motivation 21 years ago was being a single mom it supplemented my income, I then started doing consignment and did really well doing that but it was another full time job and it took the pleasure out of it. I quit for a while because I just burned out and then covid hit and I retired during that time I was cleaning out the shed and started selling again and once again the enjoyment was there. Now I go to thrift stores, yard sales buy and sell I find so much enjoyment doing it. I often think if it weren't for reselling I would not be as active as I am. So my motivation at this stage is it makes me happy. I love your videos Kevin

There might be a time in the future when I can't take care of him, so now I am saving for possible nursing home costs. Of all the YT resellers, I enjoy watching your presentations. Seeing the odd things that you pick up is one aspect, but your honesty and perspective on all things is enjoyable. If you are looking to make money at this game you better be mining your inventory in a good location. I enjoy finding things that I can use or has value to others. I worked for many years at a "real' job so I don't need the burden of making work out of something that can be fun and entertaining. I list things when I have the time that is not needed in other things. Making money is not my goal. I just like to find things that have value not only to me but someone else. Keep it fun and you can be successful.

I think the key thing when it comes to people doing something "just to make money," is: are they offering something sincerely, something genuine, something of actual value? I watch a variety of KZbinrs and stick with the ones who I can say Yes to in answer to that question. I *am* trying to make my living as an eBay seller. And watching you is *so* encouraging. To see what things sell, and for how much, things I would never look at twice, is valuable information! I hate working for other people, but I do need some community, some sense of camaraderie, and watching resellers on KZbin gives me that. So thanks for sharing your knowledge!

There is definitely money to be made in KZbin. I decided to just turn on the camera while I'm out there working. Making videos helping people with Reselling actually takes quite a bit of work and It would be nice to get paid for it. I mentor resellers locally that ask for my help. I'm also an eBay seller chapter leader for my city. Ebay doesn't pay me for that but I enjoy helping and seeing success that others get. There's one guy I'm helping right now starting fresh on eBay last week and he already has one sale. All of this takes away time that I could use for my own business make more money for myself. But like I said the enjoyment of helping is far more beneficial I think.

Great video! I have been put of touch with reselling this past year after the unexpected loss of my mother. I am now in the mindset to get back at it and this video is making me really think about my motivation. With the rough economy right now I just want to be able to make enough money to cover groceries and extra expenses (ie: sports for our son, fun family events, and such). Being a one income family money has been very tight lately, so anything I can do to help my husband to relieve some of the financial responsibilities makes me happy. And of course treasure hunting is always the best part! Enjoy your videos always!

I am constantly amazed that in retirement for 96 months in a row - 8 years I have taken home $2,000 spendable income each month or more from Ebay reselling. Most would scoff at the unorganized messy way I run my selling, but after 8 years the proof is there. 2023 brought $34.00 per hour of work. and that is after fees, taxes, cost of goods and supplies. And I achieved this working only 20 hours a week. Could I do better? Of course!

I was laid off twice as a business analyst, I helped make tools to streamline the way the company did their business. Basically our tools reduced the length of time it took to do certain tasks using automation. Both times I was laid off and the companies sent these jobs overseas for someone else to use those tools. I was so tired of it all, I quit my job and started reselling full time and I also work PT at a restaurant 2 nights a week. Life couldn't be better, I get to see my kids more, spend more time with the wife, get things done around the house and peace of mind is much better. My motivation is to never have to go back to that lifestyle again.

It’s the same boy who used to throw the tennis ball off our summer camp roof all day long every summer. I used to tell them I liked him doing that because then I knew where he was and he wasn’t off getting in trouble. Enjoy that sound of the ball off the wall, time goes by so fast, won’t be long till you will miss that sound. ❤❤❤

My reason for selling on ebay was to get rid of stuff when we were moving many years ago. I think it is fun, and i like that feeling i get every time something sells, even now after 22 years. Of course over that time the reason for reselling has changed, switched to being able to stay home and take care of my mom and build a part time retirement income. Then when I was diagnosed with a debilitatin disease, it has become an income replacement source since my husband had to retire early to help me take care of the house, pets etc. I received my ttc bag in the mail yesterday. I love it, and the next one will be the commonwealth picker bag. Thanks so much

I have been on Ebay since 1998. I am often frustrated by Ebay, have tried most of the other selling sites as they come along and always go back to Uncle Ebay, as we call it. In thinking about my motivation, I love the hunt. The early morning garage sales, chatting with people and getting out of the house. Estate sales, auctions, browsing antique stores for a deal. It makes me happy. My Ebay room is my happy place. I tell family that I buy stuff so I can sell stuff so I can buy more stuff to sell. I enjoy you and your vids because you seem to be the closest to my beliefs. I know I'll never make millions, but I'll be happy and I'm ok with that.

Hi Kevin, I’ve been watching your videos for several years and really enjoy them! I kind of fell into reselling in the past year. I had to move my mom into a memory care facility because she has dementia. She was an avid thrifter and somewhat of a collector for years so I wanted a good way to sell some of her stuff. I started selling on Ebay (thanks for all the education) and I was hooked. I started looking for stuff from my house and I am now on to picking stuff at garage sales and thrift stores! I am also a former educator (music ed.) I just have three students now…my grandchildren. I don’t see myself stopping the reselling when my mom’s stuff is all sold…I’m on a mission to get my husband into this too when he retires next year 😂

My motivation was I wanted more time with family also and freedom. My last job was good paying but would often end up working 16 hour days at the drop of a hat, 50-60+ hours every week. Taking care of people with developmental disabilities… I started my KZbin channel when I left the job.. because it wasn’t my first time venturing into reselling full-time so I figured it’d make it a little more fun/interesting for me. Am I seeking monetization? Of course, someday if it happens. Until then it’s more for my entertainment.. I got a tiny following I’m very grateful for and Ive learned a few things to help me from my comments section and other KZbinrs. I’m happy with my sales numbers, it works for me and my area. While I get knocked in my comments sometimes, “How do you make a living only making blah blah”. PLUS, a good day at my old job doesn’t and will never beat a bad day as a reseller. Beats changing adult diapers for damn sure!!! lol.

My 7th grade science teacher, Bob Herring would spend 10-15 minutes every class telling stories. I distinctly remember a story about musty laundry left in the washer after it was cleaned. He then followed me to high school as an assistant principal. Loss of a great teacher. I'm 62 so it was a long time ago. Kevin Brown was likely that kind of teacher. Good for us that they don't pay teachers 6 figures down there in VA, like they do in NYS.

I will NOT name any names because I am sure there are people who watch the both of their channels, but a week or so ago they posted a video and made a claim that was grossly FALSE about an item they found. I wanted to remind the potential resellers about why this was incorrect and how important this particular process is in reselling if you aim to be successful. They deleted my comment. I was kind, I did not specifically say "they were wrong." My comment did in fact expose their desire for views over honesty but that was not my intention. I was looking out for those new and potential resellers. SO I guess just be mindul of where your information comes from if you don't have much experience yet.

Great video and you made so much sense. My motivation was $500/month. That ended up being so easy and I loved reselling so much I kept at it. I started with the goal of selling vintage only, and mostly still do, but I also sell new and other great deals I come across. I live very rural and we have many Amish stores that buy Amazon pallets for resell. Often they don't know the value of the items they get and I can buy for pennies to resell for good money. My favorite pass time is attending farm estate auctions. I can buy whole boxes for $1 to flip. Most people around here see no value in vintage housewares. I love reselling and can't wait to get back to it once my Chemo treatments are complete.

I dont need to make a million dollars, I just want to make enough to pay my bills, save some and be able to do something without worrying about if it will break me.

This is something I can do to keep my flexible schedule while taking care of a chronically I'll daughter and 2 sets of aging parents. I have been a casual reseller for 20 years but this year is the year to try and actually make enough to make a living along side my husband's income

The biggest motivation for humans is FEAR. I ultimately do this because I am afraid of being hungry, I am afraid of being homeless, and most of all I am afraid of what will happen to me when I am old, all alone in this world, my body is broken and I physically can't work anymore. No vacations, no days off, no eating out, no going to the movies, just work work work and save like my life depends on it because it does.

This is a great video and I think philosophically it’s beneficial whether one is a reseller or not. I am very philosophically into getting things used when I can . I am very philosophically into not wasting perfectly good things when somebody else might love them. One thing I have learned from these channels is that the parts of reselling that I don’t enjoy are not inevitable . I can find other way to do the parts that I like without doing the parts that I don’t like. I’m learning about wholesaling thrifted items because I love the sourcing and I’m good at it. not going to jump into until I get back to the states because I need to get re-familiarized with the entire situation after living in a country that doesn’t even have a functional postal system. (I have recently come to the conclusion that our country would not have become what it is without the USUS postal system. It facilitates commerce, business, and family relationships. Having an organized system of addresses and maps that can find them is not a small blessing either. I’d be interested to know how that holds up from a historians point of view.)

It think it hold up very very well. See the Grand canal in China and the Royal Road in Persia and even the Inca road system.

I agree Kevin, I think there’s a disconnect between Reselling KZbinrs and those that consume their content. YTers engage for extrinsic purposes, whilst I think those consuming content thing that YTers should/are doing it for intrinsic purposes. Just my observations from my own experiences. 🐙

We started because we wanted something to do together..we like to go to yard sales but really don't need anything and we have been living in our rv so we don't have room for anything..its fun to fine a gem and sell it to someone who need or want it..

I'm retired and I'm just trying to supplement my income, because if I live another 30 years, I could not make it on just SS alone. I do have some other money that I get interest on and a dividend stock, but no way could I live on ss and those. I also would like to have some money to leave to my kids, and I enjoy selling on Ebay immensely, you meet some really nice people! That is why I do it.

I'm a super small reseller and I was lucky to do something that I don't think any of the main youtubers have done. I found a sealed copy of Cars on VHS "this was my one small claim to fame" a few years ago. I'm lucky if I go to 2 or 3 sales a weekend. That's just what is best for me. At first I did try to copy what the people I watch on youtube did and I was like why? Started doing what I felt was best and couldn't be happier.

My husband and I are both retired and worked as civil servants-not a huge retirement. I :resell for extra things-traveling etc. plus I love digging

I am retired and sell on ebay for the extra income. I also enjoy the extra benefits of helping people make money from their garage sales and offering these items to people you have a use for them

The thrill of the hunt, gets me out of bed in the morning. When I'm not out sourcing, I generally feel BORED. I'm not the couch potato type, I don't watch alot of TV.
