I carry my weapon on a extremely secure thumb snap leather belt holster because I don’t like to transfer the weapon between my person and the saddlebag in public. I carry an LCP, ain’t a big guy, and generally, you can’t see it when I’m carrying it. I normally strap the thing on first thing in the morning and take it off in the evening when I’m home. It’s a lot of effort to train yourself to carry a weapon full time, but once you make the commitment, it’s second nature. For those that worry about where and when an individual carries a weapon…. Well, I guess they need to mind their own business.

I agree with several commentors. When you have to open your saddle bag to retrieve your weapon, you basically announce to those watching that you are armed. Which defeats the purpose of concealed carry. The one issue with having the safari land disconnect mount is that you would have to have a safari land connector on your belt, which isn't a big issue as these mounts come with male and female adapters. Another option to look at is "we the people" holsters. They have a holster mount that will accept their belt clip attachments. It can be used for IWB or OWB setups. I have 2 set up in my cages and have never had an issue with pop of, or disconnect, even on rough off roas terrain. Personally, i prefer on person carry, but everyone has their own opinions. Do what's right for you. Great content, stay safe.

My problem with having it in the saddle bag is if you are in an accident plastic saddlebags tend to shatter. But having it in my vest I feel there is more control of it.

I understand completely but That said we have tested these in drop tests and since every crash is different we can’t guarantee anything but nearly everything short of a high side should see the pistol held firmly in position. Even if the rest of the bag is in pieces it should still be in holster. This at least prevents and unwitting fool from getting their bugger hook on the bang switch.

I got reard ended on my road glide limited by a rav 4 last summer. Five grand in damage to the back of my bike and she ran over everything that used to be in my right bag. That being said if the gun and holster are attached to the bag it wouldve still been in place. I carry in my vest personally whatever you're comfortable with i guess.

About your Steven Seagull ride and shoot question. In the 50s to about 60s/70s Indian built left hand operated throttles, because of some spark advance or something setting. The problem with riding with firearm in the bag isn't that you will need to use it in a shootout with Brian Bosworth...it's this... How does it look to the general public when they see a "biker" in a parking lot pulling out his firearm from a bike and putting it on his hip? You think that might make for some undue panic? I for one like to be as low key as I can with my protection but then again, I use alot of common sense

My biggest problem with carrying on the bike is the transfer of the gun. You have to move that gun from the bike to your body and in alot of cases you are very exposed to the pubic and it could be seen as brandishing a gun even if it is in a holster. Some states are more relaxed than others and some have open carry laws that would prevent problems but it is a thought not many people think about. Guess it depends on your situation and where you live and how exposed you are at your destination. Anyway just a thought. Thanks for the great videos.

Many many years ago I had a small .25 cal pistol in my back pocket while riding my 50 panhead chopper. Short story long, I got into some road gravel and lost control, I wound up sliding on my ass down the road. This ground the safety off the pistol, but fortunately I didn't shoot myself in the ass with my own weapon....lol. Needless to say I changed my carry position after that. :)

Just a few Tips, from my perspective. One, if this is the way you want it. I would put some clear silicone around the plate and holes, and remount it. I can see that leaking in the rain. Then getting the inside of ur bag all wet. Two: Tbh if you are really worried about securing the gun inside the bag. Just know, that holster only has one form of retention, which is friction. Which is something inertia and G's can easily over come. I can guarantee you that if your bike goes sliding into a ditch and does a few tumbles. First hit breaks the bag, and likely dislodges the gun. Second hit flings the gun up and into scraping Joe's yard. And if you forget about said gun in the moment. Ole Joe's on his way to barter with his new pistol. You should get a level two or three retention system. If ur actually worried about this happening. Or you can carry it on ur hip like a boss! Put a note in your wallet. Saying I'm an organ donor, but not a gun donor! FIND MY GUN! LBVS!

Thats a pretty slick setup i usually carry on my hip while riding not because i think I'd need it on the bike, but living in a very blue state you don't want some dipshit seeing you take it out of the bag to put it on your belt. And if its not possessed on your person then gun and ammo have to be locked up separately. I really hate this state.

I live in Texas. We have open carry. I carry my pistol on my hip in a level 2 secure holster. All I do is press the button and draw. A gun that is locked away is useless if shit suddenly hits the fan. Learning to shoot with your left hand is part of learning out to use your pistol in case your right arm is unusable for some reason. That is taught in advanced pistol training classes and if something a lot of police officers learn. Also cocking your pistol and clearing malfunctions with your belt is part of the training.

🤷🏻‍♂️ when I laid down the Dyna I had my Glock 19 iwb on my right hip and it never moved. Would the same happen in every wreck or incident that could possibly happen, maybe not, but that holster hasn’t let me down yet. You do you, and I’ll do me. That’s why we have multiple options.
@JimOryan
@JimOryan 3 жыл бұрын
I want to put this out there. I am attempting to find a belt setup that doesn’t require the Safariland tactical belt, but I would like to say that we actually never intended these to really transition to belt. The idea is a solid IWB holster is worth its weight in gold. The ease of transition was meant more for buying additional mounting plates. I personally have one in my saddle bag on both bikes, one under the dash in my jeep, one in my toolbox next to my weld table in the garage and one mounted under my desk. I can literally move my guns anywhere I wish and with having more than one pistol I can use the same mount for different holsters. Many people don’t have the option to carry in certain situations or it’s easier to not. As a bigger guy who does appendix carry it’s not easy to keep pistol in waist band comfortably while riding. When I’m welding it isn’t recommended to have it on my person in case I accidentally arc out on table. It’s easier to access under the dash of my car than to navigate the seatbelt and muffin top, and on top of that having easy access under desk is beneficial too. Many reasons exist for different types of holsters. This is a multi purpose utility holster. Not necessarily a carry option but a great place to go when you have little other option.

I have a favorite IWB w/ clips that hooks on the belt, and one side came loose as I was riding because of my jacket and over pants. Also, gloves are hard to draw with, and gloves makes it tough to get the finger in and out of the trigger guard. Pocket carry sucks. It’s a challenge to carry when you wear actual riding gear (and when you’re FAT). Been a few years now. Still figuring it out.

@JimOryan
@JimOryan 3 жыл бұрын
I won’t talk bad about the rickrak product but these are very different. Being a 3 size fits all holster the rickrak system does not really offer retention. A custom molded kydex with high molded in retention like this holds the pistol more secure. Going down the road there are no issues with the looser system. The added retention of the kydex though means that even in mild to moderate accidents the pistol will not move from the mount of the holster. Even if the bag is destroyed at the very least, your pistol will remain in holster so there is no accidental bang switch activation by flying ratchets, or mistaken trigger pulls by a bystander picking it up.

2:37 after what I just experienced on a ride with one of my friends you definitely need your pistol somewhere you can easily access and on you. We were on a back road and a guy randomly pulled back onto the road without looking and my friend almost hit his truck. My friend went to swerve around him and the guy started swerving and wouldn't let us pass. Meanwhile my friend was trying to get his pistol out of his backpack but couldn't get it. The guy pulled over looking for a fight and hurried to get a dredging shovel out of his truck. My friend took off as he thought it was a shotgun. I went and got my 43x out of my truck right after this happened. It was crazy. I wish I had my pistol just incase I needed it but I feel sorry for whoever is on the receiving end if the day comes. I practice a good bit and can shoot a 2 to 3 inch group at 15 yards even with the little 43x with irons. Much better with my longer slide guns like my sig 320 or glock 19 both with red dots

@@scottorr5758 You are correct. Unfortunately right now we do not offer this option. All of our holsters are made from molds to ensure perfect fit. We are looking at adding some options with the tlr3 in future but as of right now it is unavailable. I had another order come through from someone very similar named and thought it was yours. Thanks for your interest though

A Law Enforcement Officer buddy of mine was working a Peacekeeping detail in the middle of July at an outdoor event for 4 days, mostly riding a quad. He passed out from heat while riding and fell off the bike. The first Officer to him removed his gun while he was still out. When he came to, he was disoriented and started reaching for his gun, which luckily, wasn't there.

Ordering a 09-13 dominator fender and no cut out extended bags from advanblack, I need latches and lids as well since my stock lids and latches were ruined. I know you re used oem latches and lids, I know you were happy with your bags and how they fit but do you think the fit and function will be less with the latches and lids they sell in the kit. Also I saw in there video you can use 14 and up bags with a slotted hole in the stock 09-13 bracket. Either way I’m getting the dominator fender for 09-13 but would the 09-13 or 14 up bags be better with the advanblack lids(no speakers) and latches provided on there website. Or should I just get bag and lids and source oem set of latches from Harley ? I don’t mind the 09-13 style bag latch but if the newer style stay closed better I’d be happy to switch

First off, I love your videos! Keep up the great work my friend. Secondly. car jackings are out there. A pastor gunned down in a carjacking outside their home in Memphis. A thief runs up a driveway with a weapon drawn in New Orleans. An Atlanta mother of three, tossed out of her car and run over with it - all captured on her own Ring camera. Additionally, there have been more than a 40% increase in Chicago already in 2023, which is on pace to easily surpass last year’s total of 847. So yeah, carjackings are on the rise. I am fortunate to live in a state that has a castle doctrine that includes your motor vehicle. My only concern is the carrying of the 1911. As an NRA firearms instructor in multiple disciplines, I find the popular 1911 not a good idea especially on a bike. As you know the 1911 is carried with the hammer back and the safety engaged. In an accident the safety could be disengaged which means you have a loaded pistol with no safety and the hammer cocked. Add to that a gun with a 2.5 to 3 lb trigger pull and you have problems!
