I carry my weapon on a extremely secure thumb snap leather belt holster because I don’t like to transfer the weapon between my person and the saddlebag in public. I carry an LCP, ain’t a big guy, and generally, you can’t see it when I’m carrying it. I normally strap the thing on first thing in the morning and take it off in the evening when I’m home. It’s a lot of effort to train yourself to carry a weapon full time, but once you make the commitment, it’s second nature. For those that worry about where and when an individual carries a weapon…. Well, I guess they need to mind their own business.

I agree with several commentors. When you have to open your saddle bag to retrieve your weapon, you basically announce to those watching that you are armed. Which defeats the purpose of concealed carry. The one issue with having the safari land disconnect mount is that you would have to have a safari land connector on your belt, which isn't a big issue as these mounts come with male and female adapters. Another option to look at is "we the people" holsters. They have a holster mount that will accept their belt clip attachments. It can be used for IWB or OWB setups. I have 2 set up in my cages and have never had an issue with pop of, or disconnect, even on rough off roas terrain. Personally, i prefer on person carry, but everyone has their own opinions. Do what's right for you. Great content, stay safe.

My biggest problem with carrying on the bike is the transfer of the gun. You have to move that gun from the bike to your body and in alot of cases you are very exposed to the pubic and it could be seen as brandishing a gun even if it is in a holster. Some states are more relaxed than others and some have open carry laws that would prevent problems but it is a thought not many people think about. Guess it depends on your situation and where you live and how exposed you are at your destination. Anyway just a thought. Thanks for the great videos.

Just a few Tips, from my perspective. One, if this is the way you want it. I would put some clear silicone around the plate and holes, and remount it. I can see that leaking in the rain. Then getting the inside of ur bag all wet. Two: Tbh if you are really worried about securing the gun inside the bag. Just know, that holster only has one form of retention, which is friction. Which is something inertia and G's can easily over come. I can guarantee you that if your bike goes sliding into a ditch and does a few tumbles. First hit breaks the bag, and likely dislodges the gun. Second hit flings the gun up and into scraping Joe's yard. And if you forget about said gun in the moment. Ole Joe's on his way to barter with his new pistol. You should get a level two or three retention system. If ur actually worried about this happening. Or you can carry it on ur hip like a boss! Put a note in your wallet. Saying I'm an organ donor, but not a gun donor! FIND MY GUN! LBVS!

I live in Texas. We have open carry. I carry my pistol on my hip in a level 2 secure holster. All I do is press the button and draw. A gun that is locked away is useless if shit suddenly hits the fan. Learning to shoot with your left hand is part of learning out to use your pistol in case your right arm is unusable for some reason. That is taught in advanced pistol training classes and if something a lot of police officers learn. Also cocking your pistol and clearing malfunctions with your belt is part of the training.

🤷🏻♂️ when I laid down the Dyna I had my Glock 19 iwb on my right hip and it never moved. Would the same happen in every wreck or incident that could possibly happen, maybe not, but that holster hasn’t let me down yet. You do you, and I’ll do me. That’s why we have multiple options.
@JimOryan3 жыл бұрын
I want to put this out there. I am attempting to find a belt setup that doesn’t require the Safariland tactical belt, but I would like to say that we actually never intended these to really transition to belt. The idea is a solid IWB holster is worth its weight in gold. The ease of transition was meant more for buying additional mounting plates. I personally have one in my saddle bag on both bikes, one under the dash in my jeep, one in my toolbox next to my weld table in the garage and one mounted under my desk. I can literally move my guns anywhere I wish and with having more than one pistol I can use the same mount for different holsters. Many people don’t have the option to carry in certain situations or it’s easier to not. As a bigger guy who does appendix carry it’s not easy to keep pistol in waist band comfortably while riding. When I’m welding it isn’t recommended to have it on my person in case I accidentally arc out on table. It’s easier to access under the dash of my car than to navigate the seatbelt and muffin top, and on top of that having easy access under desk is beneficial too. Many reasons exist for different types of holsters. This is a multi purpose utility holster. Not necessarily a carry option but a great place to go when you have little other option.

I have a favorite IWB w/ clips that hooks on the belt, and one side came loose as I was riding because of my jacket and over pants. Also, gloves are hard to draw with, and gloves makes it tough to get the finger in and out of the trigger guard. Pocket carry sucks. It’s a challenge to carry when you wear actual riding gear (and when you’re FAT). Been a few years now. Still figuring it out.

Hold on there monk a while back you promoted the Rickrak system I bought it and it works great and would recommend to all
@JimOryan3 жыл бұрын
I won’t talk bad about the rickrak product but these are very different. Being a 3 size fits all holster the rickrak system does not really offer retention. A custom molded kydex with high molded in retention like this holds the pistol more secure. Going down the road there are no issues with the looser system. The added retention of the kydex though means that even in mild to moderate accidents the pistol will not move from the mount of the holster. Even if the bag is destroyed at the very least, your pistol will remain in holster so there is no accidental bang switch activation by flying ratchets, or mistaken trigger pulls by a bystander picking it up.

What is the best way to keep a pistol when you go into a bar. Don’t really trust leaving it on my bike. Some bars freak out about bringing a pistol in.

First off, I love your videos! Keep up the great work my friend. Secondly. car jackings are out there. A pastor gunned down in a carjacking outside their home in Memphis. A thief runs up a driveway with a weapon drawn in New Orleans. An Atlanta mother of three, tossed out of her car and run over with it - all captured on her own Ring camera. Additionally, there have been more than a 40% increase in Chicago already in 2023, which is on pace to easily surpass last year’s total of 847. So yeah, carjackings are on the rise. I am fortunate to live in a state that has a castle doctrine that includes your motor vehicle. My only concern is the carrying of the 1911. As an NRA firearms instructor in multiple disciplines, I find the popular 1911 not a good idea especially on a bike. As you know the 1911 is carried with the hammer back and the safety engaged. In an accident the safety could be disengaged which means you have a loaded pistol with no safety and the hammer cocked. Add to that a gun with a 2.5 to 3 lb trigger pull and you have problems!

None of these were on a motorcycle which involves holding a clutch at a red light. It’s just not practical.

How do you join a club? I like the compradore that comes with being a biker amongst other stuff. The biking community are people I can relate to. I live in the U.K. if that has any relevance to the question I asked.

Good thoughts, I usually leave mine in a holster in the bag. I started carry dirt Harry style while off the bike but I’m going back to the waist….. I’ve had same concern about an accident, unconscious while in procession, scary thoughts.
