I dont see a point in high hz laptop gaming on old tn panels. Who is buying a laptop to play competitive shooters? The 4k oled options look sooo much better and play regular games fine, since most AAA games are made for 60hz, and plays fast paced shooters good enough to not feel at a disadvantage. The lack of full keyboard is more of a disadvantage.

I agree with your point on Razer on how it's heavier, Razer was meant to be Sleek but portable. But I think the Blade 14 will become the new Blade 15. 16:10 Screen, bigger body overall which means better cooling and *fingers crossed* more upgradability. I just hope they don't screw it up. 16/18in will be for those who want a true desktop replacement, the 14in will be the all rounder.
@Everyday-man Жыл бұрын
I have the 2021 blade 14 and it's amazing. But saying that, having the option to have it a little bit thicker to have a full powered GPU. As there older ones like mine and even last year is only 100watt GPU... this makes a difference.. I'd jump at it, not sure why a few people are saying other wise. He didn't go into much detail. They will have full powered GPU, better cooling, especially the 18 which has a third fan. I think the 16 would be a great middle, becuase I've had the 14 for over a year and love it.. but when trying to do productively stuff, the 14 screen can be pretty cramped and hard to read fine print. I'd say the 16 would be really nice for both gaming and work. For me, I would be happy with a little bit thicker. It's the build quality that I love, the steel chassis! Saying that, I got mine $1200 off, if it wasn't for that. I probably would have done MSI again
@LAFadhel Жыл бұрын
@@Everyday-man I can completely agree with all your points. The 14in is portability but does get cramped, I do hope by giving it a 16:10 screen this year *fingers crossed* it’ll make the overall body bigger giving it better cooling and maybe better upgradability.

I am most excited about Razer, IDK what you are talking about. They increased the thickness in order to accommodate for the full 175W TGP. On top of that the Blade 16 has a Dual Mode display that gives you the best of both worlds. 4K@120Hz or 1080@240Hz, nothing beats having those options in a laptop. These new 4090 laptops are going to match desktop 4080s so most have had to go up in size which is why we see 16” being so significant this year. The Blade is finally no longer skimped, having a much lower TGP vs the competition really didn’t make sense.

Pricing was the issue. Basically, the screen made the price go up too much, but folks werent interested in buying them. Seems in the laptop scene, higher refresh rates at a range of about $1500 - $2000 is the sweet spot. You go above that and its not a big seller, but more of a hyper niche product. Theres also the fact that having 4K 120 screens does put pressure on the battery.

@jarrod you mentioned no Mini LED for Lenovo. Unless I'm reading everything wrong, their top tier Legion 7i Pro will have a Mini LED option. Reading from their spec sheet, it will be: Legion Pro 7i_16IRX8H - 16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600) MiniLED; 16:10 (165 Hz / 3 ms Response Time / 100% sRGB / 1100 nits

Local shop where I live are already advertising on their websites the higest spec legion I can see is £3999 only screen option is wqxga quad HD (2560 x 1600) 240hz 3ms response time with overdrive 100% rbg 500 nits.. Might look to see if any other shops are advertising other options

They also said MiniLED would come to Gen7 7i, but it never came
@cameronbosch1213 Жыл бұрын
@Kyradeen Howlfeather Exactly. The only screen that was sold was the 165 hz screen from 2021. I wish that there was that 240 hz screen from this year but with a MiniLED screen for those who want a bit more color gamut or HDR support. But they seem to be doing nearly everything wrong this year. I'm not hopeful for Legion this year, but I guess we'll have to see what the rumored Legion 9 brings...

1. ASUS G14 2. Acer Predator Helios 16 3. ASUS M16 4. Legion Pro 7 5. Acer Nitro 16 These are my top 5 so far. Will definitely be buying a 2023 G14 with either a 4050 or 4060. It'll sit right next to my 2022 Legion 5i as a secondary laptop and be my main travel laptop.

This year seems to be focused on having laptops that are desktop replacement capable of handling full desktop CPUs and GPUs. While they are portable devices they are not meant for extreme mobility. You can easily move them from desk to desk, room to room but they are not for carrying with you when on the move and on the go outside. The good thing is this year’s sizes and weight will only shrink further and present an exciting starting point for what the future holds with each new advanced process node. My pick from CES is more a creator laptop but very capable of gaming, the ASUS ZenBook Pro 16X OLED the Supernova SOM has me curious.

There's literally no good AMD Ryzen option yet, apart from the m16, which does appear to be delayed for the Ryzen models (but at least they have them). And to think DELL is the one bringing AMD, when they were Intel's biggest customer! 😳

@@costa2150 I'm hoping AMD Phoenix Laptops will offer premium designs. It will be good to see if there is an advantage to having dedicated die area on the chip for the XDNA AI architecture. Microsoft hinted at CES that they want to have deep AI integration in Windows "12".

Oled vs mini led wich is better ?
@levygaming3133 Жыл бұрын
OLED has better blacks and contrast overall, at the cost of burn in being a consideration. (I’m sure that it’s better than it was before, but it’s still somewhat inherent to the physics of OLED) Mini LED is just an IPS* screen with a better backlight. They get brighter than OLED (most of the mini leds I’ve seen announced are 1000 nits, whereas OLED last year was ~500 nits). You don’t have to worry about burn in. Cons of mini led would be worse blacks and less insane contrast. Mini led might have haloing in dark scenes, that’s something we’ll have to see when Jarred does his reviews.

With the new CPU and with the combination of the new RTX4000 Series the TDP has sunk up to 40-50W and still outperforms any last Gen GPUs, so the heat reduction fell massively and the efficiency increased. What an achievement, this year I will surely buy a new Gaming Notebook.

Funny, in recent times there are rarely any Laptops I would consider to be "transformer-like" designs. I mean there is now definitely more stealthy office type looking maschines than gamery looking ones. So there is plenty to choose. If money is no consideration you should look into Razer as they really look like MacBooks that were made for gaming but there are so many other options nowadays. Asus g14/g15/g16/M16/x16 Hp omen Gigabyte aero 16/17 Acer predator Triton MSI stealth gs66/16 I just would keep my hands off of Alienware MSI Raider/Titan Gigabyte Aorus Most Lenovos Acer Nitro Asus Tuf/Dash/Scar Because they still look quite gamery

Hey Jarrod, I came across your channel fairly recently & really appreciate the quality of your content & insight. As someone who lives in a third world country with no official dealers (means that we have to pay for resellers profit margins), could you please consider including a category along the lines of "Value for Money" in your videos? That would be a category that could have certain compromises but would have a relatively lower price. It'd really help us folks out, thanks!

Not sure if the next Acer Nitro series will eventually remove that extra SSD slot for extra battery life.
