I agree with this concept but for a different reason. It brings the racquet string-bed through the ball on a slightly upward arc. In effect, hitting the ball's underside. This creates a higher launch-angle off the strings, carrying the ball further towards the back of the court. The "cocked wrist" swing produces better length. Notice the "sloppy wrist" string-bed stays on a flatter arc. On that hit, the strings hit slightly higher on the ball (towards the ball's middle) and the ball ends up not carrying as far towards the back (producing poor length). Try for oneself. Hit some lengths with a wrist that's "cocked" and some "uncocked." The effects on length are noticeable.

Yes, this is very good advice and it has helped my game (forehand) a lot since I discovered it very recently after playing for 20 years :-) Paul Coll has gone maybe even too far recently in terms of holding the racquet higher.

Yeah I agree there must definitely be a downside to holding it too far up.

Other plays who do this well: - Marwan Elshorbagy - Victor Crouin - Eleinen

Very True! And all of these players have exceptional racket preparation in my opinion.

My main question is where can I buy that T-shirt from?

Not bad advice but the best drives shown in this video were when you were forced to turn your body towards the side wall and using your left leg to lead as opposed to using your right leg and dragging the ball into the centre of the court

Yeah unfortunately the drives with the loose wrist ended up being a bit better 😂 However the point was just to show the difference in the body stability and posture when changing the wrist position.

How train wrist stability?
@SquashForce11 ай бұрын
I think just practicing to keep it cocked and upright. If you keep doing this your wrist will get stronger and get used to being in that position.

Im new to the game but i think the different when u show the difference between cock and normal wrist is also attributed to your foot work? which changes

I’d say having a stable wrist actually helps you stay more balanced and stronger in your lunge and footwork.

Another very important basic skill to acquired but most social and beginners didn't do this right. Includes long time regular social players.

I completely agree. I wish I was taught this in my junior years.

@SquashForce Actually, holding the racquet higher with cock wrist also helps very much in coaching the very beginners as most of them have weak wrist. It will make them easier to learn the drive shots

So we cannot break the wrist this means correct?
@SquashForce2 күн бұрын
Keeping a solid wrist is always good advice man for for hitting a ball well and getting good accuracy. It makes you hit the ball in a good way. It’s very important for the first part of the swing and then as you make contact with the ball sometimes you can snap the wrist and change it to confuse your opponent. But for the majority keep that thing stable 😉

Completely depends on individual taste and preference. Ali Farag holds the racquet extremely low, others like Coll holds it higher. Its just practice and what works.

I agree. Many different styles out there. I just find this one do the easiest ones to adapt to and see quick results.
