This game does so much right. The camera movements, FOV, motion blur, sense of Speed even its only 30fps. sound, lighting. I was always amazed at how cinematic it looked. And you can even race the Nordschleife in snow conditions!

I also have this hidden gem for the 360 and till this day it’s such a trill every time I jump into PGR4 the music the tracks the cars the main career mode and the snow events is also wicked even if it’s a bit arcade for a game that’s a decade now such a classic but I would say PGR3 and 4 were the best of the bunch

Honestly this game is so dope, the variety of vehicles, good feel, fun races, a garage where you can place cars and walk around and not to mention some of the best sounds ever in a racing game. I miss it dearly

On Xbox, this game also had some obscure achievements, one required hitting 88mph during a storm with a DeLorean, another involved going past a casino in an Aston Martin DBS, and another required getting second place in a race while a song that had one (1) line about second place was playing

PGR2 is worth trying. Original Xbox game, they definitely went the less flashy route of PGR4. There’s no bikes, all racing is separated into classes like old muscle cars, modern super cars, hatchbacks, coupes, roadsters etc, and I loved that about PGR2 So much, you really felt like you were progressing classes.

When I was a kid, my parents took me to Kumon for math class. Each time you finished on time , you could redeem rewards, I saved up all my Kumon money to buy this game. It introduced me to the racing game genre. I love it to this day, it's like a grand Turismo but goofier.

This was my first racing game I ever played on the Xbox 360, it was my brother's until I got my own game for myself being burnout paradise. Both games hold amazing memories for me and so happy to see PGR 4 covered here.

I spent soo much time on this game in my childhood, I remember it being so cool and including some insanely cool cars like your RUF cayman concept and your TVR T440Rs and so many others, the fact you could get your own garages and display your own cars as well, so many unreal details for its age, this game has aged like a fine wine

Actually in this game you can find the most detailed Russian city ever created in video games. There are real shops on the places they actually were back in 2007, even the real writings on the walls and advertising is there!

My dad recommended PGR4 to me many years ago and I eventually played through it front to back in lockdown. I think it has to be the most fun I’ve ever had playing through a game full stop, just felt like there was so much to do and it never really got stale.

glad you got round to playing this, i played this all the time just before the first forza horizon came out, you missed the best part of this game you can get entire garages that you can walk round and place all your favorite vehicles there is even an arcade game you can play in a few of them. "garages tab in the career mode"

I started playing through this about 6 months ago, grinding away until I had every car and bike worth having. I REALLY enjoyed it! Fantastic gameplay, great arcadey handling, great sense of speed, fantastic interior view, Engine sounds that some of today’s games can’t match! Just real good fun.

yes and bikes are better than RIDE, MOTO GP, any other modern racing bike game. This is insane. The most fun game mixing Cars/Bikes ever and one of the best of all times in the genre.

Cant believe you've never played PGR4 😯 I got a XBox 360 because of one car on a DLC. It was the VW Golf w12 650 so I had to get the XBox and the XBox Live points and membership plus a WIFI adapter just for one car but I never looked back loved that game to bits I had a PGR4 cap to go with it to 😍

i used to love pgr2 on the og xbox, instead of a car list it had a physical dealership/showroom? that you could walk around and enter different rooms that were dedicated to specific manufacturers and sections dedicated to specific regions/continents. super cool game

I'm surprised you did not showcase the garages. That was one of my favorite parts of PGR. Being able to walk around and examine the cars in your collection. It was better than what forzavista is today.

Honestly, you’ve got to try PGR 2 at some point. It’s my personal favourite PGR game and one of my overall favourite racing games ever, and I really think you’d love it since you loved PGR 4.

Pgr4 had a sweet spot of enjoyment. One of my fav races against my brother was ariel atom vs gsxr 1000. A nice list of cars the shifts sounded very real and the sounds were spot on it seemed for its time. Got to race motorcycles against cars. Another favorite was the z06 vs a 600 on a roll and it matched real life outcomes. They could remake pgr4 right now for pc and id buy it. For now the new king for me is asseto corsa and mods.

you might be into the project forza plus mods for the motorsport games on the 360, it fixes a ton of issues with the stock games, and adds plenty towards realism, and making the games run great, you just cant put any decals on your cars, you can paint them all you want, just no pictures or strips, at least as of yet. thats a xenia issue though, and if you can get these mods running on real hardware (pretty sure you can) you wont have any issues with creating liveries. all i know is, the physics in these games is why ahead of gran turismo 4, so this is my new favorite way to drive with my thumbs.

Fun fact: there was sound effects used up until Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Horizon 3 which were originally in this game. There’s an LMP car, all black, it’s turbo blow off sound was sampled and used for many many years in Forza games (Microsoft owned Forza and PGR at the same time)

Great game. PGR 2 is still till this day my favourite racing game. Online it was brilliant, way better than any offering out there today. Cat and Mouse around the Nurburgring was next level.

PGR and PGR2 on the original Xbox were also spectacular... Perfect mix of arcade and "simulation". Graphics also were top notch for the time. All cars felt different and the handling felt realistic.

You should find a way to play PGR2 it's a really nice game and my all time favorite racing game! Nostalgia plays a big role in it but you had a lot of features like walking trough a massive garage with every single car in the game and you can test drive them over a private race track plus a different underground garage for yourself where you also got an arcade game machine with that you can use to play Geometry Wars🔥 Graphics and physics still nice tho

I think a big difference between closed track racing games back then and now is the lack of city circuits. Yeah Brands Hatch is cool but give me something unique.
