I honestly would kill for Sigma's 50-100 f/1.8 to be released for Full Frame/ Sony E-mount 😂 but I guess that single lens would kill every other prime lens with the aperture on Sigma's lineup

Seems like Tamron makes some really incredible lenses. I’ve always stuck with Canon & Sigma, but it might be worth checking out Tamron 🤔

Been waiting for this lens for a while. I have the other two tamron zoom lenses and I love them. Although this new 70-180mm doesn't reach the 200mm, remember that we got Clear Image Zoom on sony cameras so you could get up to 2x!! Thanks for the video Peter!

Hi Peter! Nice video as always! I have a question: Did your 70-180 lens make noise when you shaked a littlebit or just moved in your hand? Just I get my lens today and It is little weird that if I just put this lens from my bag to the Sony A7III and till the camera switched off the Tamron is make noise if I "shake" or "moved". When I turn on the Camera it is disappear. It is normal? Thank for your help in advance!

Hi, I'm more interested in this lens on a tripod for sunset and sunrise landscape photography. Using it stopped down and probably between 135 and 180mm mostly and longer exposures. Can anyone with experience with this lens give views on if it is a good choice? Thanks

I just received my tamron 70-180 on Friday and have taken it out twice - well worth the price. It’s definitely not a Sony lense but the value makes up for some lost features. I have two of the three tamron triforce lenses and I have no regrets!

Love the review...I just used this lens this weekend on a shoot. And my 70-200 is for sale. Size and Sharpness are A+. The ability to have two cameras on your hip is so much more manageable. I was going to get the R5...not until Canon gets one of these at this price point. 3.3 lbs vs 1.7lbs is a game changer. It’s the shots you miss that make you crazy, you really don’t with this. Balances on my Weebill S too.

Got my Tamron 28-75 F2.8 today now ordering 70-180 F2.8, I heard next they will be releasing prime lens at F1.4, I wanted to buy G Master 24 F1.4 but I think I should wait for Tamron prime as that will be affordable with a very less difference in image quality.

I ended up selling the tamron and got the bellows throughout the year one by one 16-35 2.8 gm 55 1.8 70-200 2.8 gm I got all them of for way cheaper than the retail price when it was on sale and has cash back through Sony. Happy with the purchase. Specially with my 16-35 and also 55 1.8 since it is small and very sharp for gimbal use etc. their could be other good replacements for 70-200 gm. Look into the new Tamron 35-150 2-2.8. That one covers a good focal length. With the tamron 17-27 or if you got some cash get the GM I have the 16-35. Love that one.

How do you get your LED lights not flickering with you Sony camera? All my Sony cams have banding with that kind of light. I use philips hue for that. And shutter speeds correct.

Very interesting comment you made about potentially selling your Sony F4. I also own the SonyF4 and the other two Tamron zooms ( great lenses) . I am wondering if the Tamron 70-180 is noticeably smaller/easier to handle for photography than the Sony F4. Would the IQ of the Tamron be substantially better ( in the real world) than the Sony F4 on the a7iii.Thanks Peter, your little boy is gorgeous!

Love this lens but the zoom mechanism sucks in a ton of dust. I have been using it for almost two months and will have to send it in soon as the dust is clogging the front element. I am not even using it in extreme environments. All my other Sony telephotos and zooms(100-400, 24-70/2.8) that extend do not have this issue after 2 years. I also have the 17-28 and thankful Tamron has provides alternative E-mount lenses.

I own the 70-200mm f/4 G lens and also own the Sony 85mm f/1.8. Although I would like the constant f/2.8 aperture of the Tamron 70-180mm lens, I would need to sell both my 70-200mm and 85mm lenses to pay for the Tamron. I think that I will remain with my present lenses...

After breaking 3 Sony 70-200 F4 lenses in half in minor drops of 3ft to carpet. And now having the Tamron 70-180 lens.. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Tamron over the Sony f4 IMHO the Tamron is built like a tank when compared to the sony f4. The Tamron has already taken tumbles and drops that I know the sony f4 would not have survived.

Sony's lenses are so damn expensive. It's nice to see competitors like Tamron/Sigma offer cheaper lenses, especially for amateurs like me. I don't care if it's all plastic, which is actually better in many cases because of weight, I just want lenses that look decent and doesn't cost a full pay check to buy one damn lens. I remember when I first started getting interested in videography, I was shocked to find out that many lenses were more expensive than the camera. I hope in the future that they make more budget lenses.

I have the 70-200 GMaster. I just purchased the Tamron 70-180 for my son to use cause he has neuropathy from cancer treatments (from a few years ago) so he can have a zoom to use. I am looking forward to going out and comparing shots these lenses
