At 83, flamboyant industrialist and aviator Vijaypat Singhania is making headlines for his new memoir titled ‘An Incomplete Life’, whose publication his son sought to restrain. Singhania, who led the building of Raymond into a leading suiting brand and is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan, said the decision to gift his entire 37.17% stake in Raymond to his younger son Gautam Singhania was the biggest mistake of his life.In the interview Singhania also spoke about allegedly being denied access to his grandchildren, why he didn’t hand over the business to his other son and his days as a record-setting aviator.

I still remember going to the Raymond shop to always buy shirt and trouser material for my birthdays. From my shorts till age 9, to my first trouser age 10, to my formal trousers for first job, age 18, to my first business suit age 24 to my wedding suit age 34 ... Always Raymond ! I also had the good fortune to sell equipment to Raymond factory in Thane, Raymond denim Yavatmal and JK Files. Its a fact which I have witnessed in my childhood. My grandfather had suffered the same by giving away all assets and business to his son's. Same had happened to my mother too. Only daughter's who will not received any thing from her will be responsible and concerned. My father in law was opposite, he enjoyed his son's support all the way till ladt moment of his life because he never parted a penny plus never ever promised to give anything.

I am one of the aged guys of Shri Snehansu Kumar Ghosh worked in Singhania's Company named Alumunium Corporation of India Ltd., at its Head Office Kolkata. The management of the Co. declared Locked-out in the year 1974 affecting almost about 2000 employees including Head Office staff. They did not give any compensation to the employees even no benefits of PF and Gratuity. After a few years the then Govt. took over the Company at its plant Asansol about 700 employees fully from Asansol not any employee from Head Office. My father the then time took job of any amount like a beggar maintaining his family numbering 8. What a miserable days we spent only God knows. God has given his decision after a long period and it is quite natural.

I think Mr Vijaypat Singhania transferred all his property to Mr Gautam Singhania to avoid giving anything to his older sons and his grandkids from his older son. They I believe live in Singapore:(

as per new ruling by Supreme Court the gift or transfer of property can be nullified if son the beneficiary doesn't give them maintenence expenses..It can be reversed by Court order.
