When I was stationed in England, I got the 'bug' to hunt down old tapestries and paintings of St George and the Dragon. The older pictures I found, the more the creature resembled a raptor. It could jump 20 feet, keep up with a 1200 pound horse and take one down. A man in armor, fighting that with a sword, no wonder a soldier was made a saint for killing one.

I tend to believe that some Pterodactyls just may have survived until Biblical times but they don't look quite like a dragon. The dragons seen inso much Chyneze and European Lore are spiritual dragons. The Chyneze actually being a snake with wings, signifying its spiritual nature and not actual wings. Just like biblical angels in artwork signify their spiritual existence otherwise they might also have bird feet so they could land in trees like Pigeons? I cannot express strongly enough that there is a huge body of Occult (hidden) information about the flying snake dragons of Chynah and the European romanticized versions of dragons. It can best be simplified as a human seeking spiritual enlightenment having to slay the dragons of their personal desires and they are directly related to the snakes on the Caduceus that the medical community uses as a logo. In today's terms it may be someone with a drug or alcohol addiction, or sexual addiction. Slaying the dragon or nailing the snake to a cross has religious and alchemical connotations. For what its worth I would say that 90% of the dragon lore is symbolic of spiritual concepts and perhaps 10% being anecdotal sightings and retelling of stories of sightings throughout time which all lead to the Pterodactyl IMO.

I love this already. It’s an answer to a prayer this morning. Even before I’ve watched it [and I will comment back once I’ve watched it ] I thank you for this because I’m deeply interested in dragons. •> Before I was fully a saved baptized Christ-lover/follower, Bible reader as I am now as an adult as I was as a child, for 25 years of adult life I had a multi-faceted pagan spiritual path. •> Interestingly, dragons are everywhere in my life, in art, school mascots, books, my studies, bearded dragon pets, and I even have a big tattoo. •> Today I understand the energetic meaning of them as an earthly life force and Biblically as the powerful fallen one. Today I would never knowingly worship the evil one as a Saved Christian! •> The Lion of Judah and the shepherd are my icons. •>In all major people groups worldwide dragons exists culturally as winged serpents, rainbow serpents, magical, majestic, either malevolent or benevolent creatures.

Legends of dragons are found among most people groups. For example, there are the stories of Bel and the dragon, the Kulta of Australian aborigines, St. George and the dragon, and of course many Chinese legends. Often, the anatomical descriptions given are consistent, even though they come from separate continents and various times. These depictions match what we know from the fossil evidence of certain dinosaurs. Thus, dinosaurs are known directly from their fossils, and indirectly from cave drawings, tapestries, textiles, figurines, carvings, bas reliefs, and many oral and written eyewitness accounts, most of which are quite old.

Agreed. I also believe this is circumstantial evidence that 'modern humans', human consciousness and civilizations are much much older than we think. I do not believe that humans are only 150k years old, and definitely do not believe that human civilization is only 5000years old. The fact that these stories might actually be memories suggests that humans go back half million years or more. In fact Hinduism says humans are 1mil+ years old.

The Lord confounds the wise by using what the world system might call "foolish"..."Wise" here does not denote Godly wisdom but rather the conceited wisdom of the world system where there is a willful ignorance of intelligent design and thus a willful attempt to exclude a creator. Why exclude a creator you might ask? Well, simply because if I deny a God then I can deceive myself into not needing to be accountable to a higher power. --A Power who sees all my immoral filth that I do in private and in my mind. Let me tell you I know of professors at universities who are exceedingly careful to *look good* in public but behind the scenes they do the most embarrassingly filthy stuff often with the proverbial "plausible deniability." Science, when treated objectively, is an awesome thing. But usually those who shout loudest about how they are objective, are usually those who really take a subjective approach and have turned science into their own religion we call "Scientism".

I always believed that Pterodactyls have the thin, flat growth on their heads is so it can act as a rudder of sorts because they lack tails like birds.
@nvstewart
@nvstewart 2 жыл бұрын
But they do have tails, sort of. It's connected between the legs. Moving the legs will adjust flight characteristics (just like a bird can move it's tail). It's very similar to the wingsuits people use when jumping out of aircraft where they adjust, not only their arms, but their legs as a means of control. Some Female Pterosaurs don't have a large crest like the males do.
@root1657
@root1657 2 жыл бұрын
Aerodynamically it doesn't make much sense to put the rudder there, cause it wouldn't be very effective, and besides the females didn't have them, nor did other species, so, probably not something needed to fly. Might be more likely it's more for showing off in front of the girls.

Cause the rear horizontal stabilizers that move are often called stabilators because they also act as an elevator.... @@root1657 the only word for vertical-ish stabilizer is rudder, doesn't matter if it is vertical, or at an angle like some aircraft have it. As far as the long crest effecting flight, I could see that it would effect it to a degree, especially higher speed, but I have no clue how fast these things would be able to fly. I would imagine they would be pretty slow, more like a glider, so the crest effecting flight would be minimal at best.

Early palaeontologists used the term dragon to refer to dinosaur like creatures before the word dinosaur was invented.For example,sir Richard Owen was an anatomist,a biologist,and also a palaeontologist(it was owen who termed the word dinosaur,meaning,”terrible lizard”,in about 1841). Some marine reptiles called “Ichthyosaurs”are displayed in the natural history museum,built by Owen,Owen was the first superintendent of the museum.Several specimens were procured for the museum in 1834 and 1838,before the word dinosaur was invented.Stamped on these specimens is”sea-drag”,which is of course short for sea-dragon.The early geologist Thomas Hawkings wrote a book in 1840 (before the term dinosaur was coined),the title was “book of the great sea-dragons.Ichtyosauri and plesiosaurs….” All the sea creatures were created on day 5 of the creation week-Genesis 1:20-23.

What happens to all the sea dinosaurs? There are none living. But the fish survived...those obedient were preserved by God in harbouring area amid the turmoil....the dinosaurs weren't created by God, they were formed (breed-engineered) later by man to serve violent war-sport purposes...thus the whole earth was spread with violence. All dinos died in the flood, none were obedient to God's call into the ark...2x T.Rexes 2x brachioasurus and others....don't think so. There was no design in the ark to hold them. They will possibly/ probably be resurrected in the 2nd ressurection. Roman 8: 28-21. JB Philips version. 18-21 In my opinion whatever we may have to go through now is less than nothing compared with the magnificent future God has planned for us. The whole creation is on tiptoe to see the wonderful sight of the sons of God coming into their own. The world of creation cannot as yet see reality, not because it chooses to be blind, but because in God’s purpose it has been so limited-yet it has been given hope. And the hope is that in the end the whole of created life will be rescued from the tyranny of change and decay, and have its share in that magnificent liberty which can only belong to the children of God! Amen.

In my community in Kenya, the legend talks about an animal called a NDAMATHIA. It was a huge serpent like animal but with legs that lived in lakes, rivers and deep swamps. They said it would appear during the circumcion season, since circumcision was done on river banks, the NDAMATHIA would appear, scare everyone and eat the sacrifices. It would then dive in the water and it would turn the water white as it swam away, it would cause the river to boil.....

Of course dinosaurs were dragons. Most the big ones were killed in the flood, not millions of years ago. Every culture across the earth has legends of encounters with dragons…. @Lex Stone primitive mythology about magic floods lmao. Kid the evidence is literally everywhere. YOURE just too incompetent and stubborn to look. Look at ALL the pancake flat layers of sedimentary rock all over the place, meaning they were laid down with no time Between them, not millions of years. “Sedimentary rock” LITERALLY MEANS sediment laid down by water, lol. Try again…. EVERY single culture across the earth has “myths” about a race of giants that were killed in a global flood. Because it’s the SAME very real story being told post-Babel dispersion (what you would know as the late-Uruk expansion) in each new successive culture. “Mythology” is just antediluvian history told through successive cultures in their respective languages post-babel dispersion. You very clearly have no idea what you’re talking about, at all. Let’s take a look at “Greek mythology” for a example…. The gods live up high on mount Olympus and come down here and create the titans. Now let’s change a couple things around.. the fallen angels come down from mount Hermon and fornicate with human women to create the nephilim giants.. sound familiar? Mount Olympus is Mount Hermon, where the fallen angels (the gods) actually touched down before that flood. The titans are the 6-fingered, elongated-skulled nephilim giants that we find all over the earth. The ancients were TELLING you exactly who their “gods” were. See, the problem is that is was translated from Hebrew to Greek first, THEN to English. And the term is lost. It’s “Elohim” , that’s what “gods” is translated from. And it literally means ANGEL.

Well thats just it, it's just speculation for the most part. Take a dino like the spinosaurus, it's design has been changed around 4 to 5 times since 2000. Because every few years they find a new fossil that changes the way the dino was viewed. Even if we had a 100 percent complete fossil we still wouldn't know exactly how it looked like. @@Jordan-vr7ip yes but even then the fossils have not been completely studied, for example in 2007 scientist ran a chemical test on velociraptor teeth as well as Deinonychus's teeth. They found out that the food the dinos ate changed as it age leading some to speculate they were not pack hunters like originally thought. Another study in 2007 found small bumps along some of the bones of the raptor, most likely for feathers. Even thought we know it has feathers we still don't know if they were fully covered or not. And on top of that we don't know how the feathers looked. Even in modern birds a parrots feathers are very different compared to say an Eagles. Yes we can speculate on how these animals looked. And even recreate them with some ammount of accuracy. But we will never know how they looked like with 100 percent accuracy. Especially not with more discoveries and tests changing how the dinosaur is viewed. The changes might be less drastic due to a more complete fossil being there but most dinosaurs that have existed never left fossils. That would mean when the oil rested on the water, the deep, it would stay on fire and boil to some degree. @@theviperman1947 -Where is the Firmament and how do you explain what it is in relation to our blue skies and space itself, where is the large body of water above it is dividing? -We live on a planet in a heliocentric solar system, please remind me what the bible actually says about the Earth and it relative position in the universe. You see the bible was written by man in times this knowledge was not known, something we can show does not follow the bibles ideas, it is a repeat and rinse with religion over many thousands of yrs, they didn't know what the sun was so made it a god, they didn't know what volcano's were so sacrificed to the angry mountain god, as we have learnt what these are the religions disappear, this is what is happening now to yours, a massive rise in non believers and churches struggling to attract new blood as our scientific understanding exposes more inconsistences in the bible. The bible claims the we cannot be any older than 6,000 yrs as experts have worked out from its scriptures, yet through highly accurate radio carbon dating we can debunk that straight away and several other dating methods all lend support to each other to reinforce the methods we use.

@@theviperman1947 Again I repeat you cannot use the bible to prove the bible, what part of a logical fallacy do you not get, try prove it without referring to other passages, you cannot prove Jesus existed in the same sense you cannot prove any of the witnesses existed, entertain this for 1 minute, what if the real authors of the book made it up, added the extras in to make it seem plausible like any fiction writer does to form a convincing story and add thousands of yrs so none of it can be verified and you have a religion. The fact the bible makes so many claims that to that era were plausible because of the lack of scientific knowledge and to ours are easily shown to be wrong makes this scenario all the more real otherwise the words of god could not have been wrong and science would support the bible all the way but it clearly doesn't. If you take all the holy scriptures that exist and destroy them so nothing exists for new generations then new religions will evolve with very different versions that is proven when we discover ancient text from lost civilisations, you can see the lack of understanding of nature and how they imagined it worked, this is repeated over and over again, new religions, new versions and very different gods. New take all physics, biology or chemistry book and destroy all we know about them, then jump forward thousands of yrs, the same physics, chemistry and biology will be discovered over time and will remain exactly the same because the fundamental laws of the universe will not have changed, this is the biggest problem theists have, the constant reinvention of religion none of which are the same and the fact that science does remain the same shows you are backing the wrong horse here. You fail to answer any question I pose or provide anything I ask for for evidence, you are doing what I see all the time, refusing to acknowledge what I put forward then play misdirection, that does not do any favours for your position.

@@theviperman1947 What I mean by using the bible to prove the bible is been misinterpreted, now the bible claims Jesus can produce miracles, there exists no evidence of this other than another part of the bible saying so, if you need to prove something then you need to find an alternative way to do so, agreeably the majority of the bible cannot be proven in this way, too much time has passed and lack of evidence so we have to concentrate on other claims of the bible that can be verified today, claims about the heavens and earth, claims about certain places, global floods etc which all should leave some very distinctive markers or agreeable scientific evidence to support them and that is where the bible starts to falter, when we look at the age of the earth, date rocks and fossils, understand how mountains are formed and the fossils of sea creatures got up into the heights of mountains and we can demonstrate the science behind it then it shows the claims of the bible are clearly wrong. Take the supposed global flood, where did the water come from, there is nowhere near enough locked up in the ice caps to flood all the land and where did it go? You do understand rain comes mainly from the sea in a cycle that's why the sea does not get deeper the more it rains, how come we have evidence of Chinese dynasties living right through the flood centuries before and after yet no mentions in their historic writings and paintings, you see when we start applying the real observations and geography, geology, astronomy etc to the bible it exposes its false claims.

@@lance9249 Thats exactly it. And as this gentleman says, the term dinosaur was invented in 1841 to describe the bones dug up all around the world. So what were people seeing that they described as dragons? My problem is that reptiles are cold blooded ie they don't do well in cold climates. They need a warm climate in order to function. I'm in the UK and the only reptiles here are small, they hibernate and are not particularly common. Sure there are some small snakes and lizards but that's all. Yet we have all these dragon stories. And they persist until the 1800s. There are stories of small pterasaurs in a Welsh village that ate the chickens and they were a damn nuisance . So they were killed off. I came across the Congo stories of giant long necked lizards and the bipedal creatures seen running (not jumping) across the Aussie northern territories. All current as in the last 100 or so years.There are others too.

I find it funny you say that since pretty much all of this is invention by men, dinosaurs went extinct millions of years ago before and ape or human showed up and let’s say for the sake of argument that dinosaurs lived along side man and were as numerous as any other animal of the time, you really don’t think that at least a handful of species would’ve survived??? Either in remote areas or on islands? Don’t you think they would’ve survived until relatively recently? I mean I’m sure the romans would’ve loved to capture Trex’s, ankylosaurs or triceratops in their colosseum, or royalty and nobility would’ve kept some in their menagerie and we’d find their remains along side their other pets like elephants, lions, or dogs kept in their palace, someone somewhere would’ve tamed some and used them for labor or in wars the same way people tamed elephants to be used in wars and labor

Accourding to The Bible death entered the world at the fall of man when sin entered. I find it interesting that dragons are said to have been able to fly and the punishment of the serpent was to crawl on its belly almost as though it lost its ability to fly maybe becoming dinosaurs. Pterodactyls like he said aren’t dinosaurs so it still kinda fits. Inconclusive food for thought.

I was just researching dragons and fire breathing dragons yesterday, trying to find Leviathan which is in Job 41. I wonder - is that the beast that "once was, now is not, but will be again" spoken of in the Bible? Revelation 17:11-13 New International Version 11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction. 12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. 13 They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.

No, Revelations uses symbolism to describe future events. The dragon described is the Anti-Christ, a religious movement. And the beast described is a political entity that adheres to the religious movement... You might want to look up the history of the Protestants and their interpretation of who the dragon was to understand the book of Revelations...
