Hello! Howcome Bethlehem is mentioned in Genesis if the city was founded years later?

Hi. Thanks for the question. The first mention of Bethlehem in Judah in the Bible is found in Genesis, which I believe is true. Now, the first mention of Bethlehem outside of the Bible is later than the time that Genesis records. That does not nessecarily mean that it did not exist before that time, but that simply put the archaeological record of it before that time is incomplete, missing, hasn't been discovered yet, etc. which is not unusual and is the case for many ancient cities that were much bigger and far more important than Bethlehem, which was never much more than a small town in biblical times. Hope that answers your question.

I would like to catch a St Peters fish in the Sea of Galilee and make a shore lunch with it on the beach. Add some home fries and garlic toast, all pan fried over an open fire with an Israeli Maccabee or Negev brew to wash it down with. Add some Bourekas for dessert. Then a nap under a sycamore tree on the Mount of Olives. Doesn't get much more Biblical that that.

It is still possible to visit Bethlehem, just make sure you have a good guide to see the Holy places not just Shepherds Field.

Exactly! Hope to visit there in person myself one day when I go back to Israel. I could have gone there on my first trip, but I chose to go see the City of David instead, not because I was worried about safety, I just wanted to go to the City of David.
