When you give into a good ministry that helps the poor, I believe that's credit to your heavenly account. For example, I'm not a missionary, but i can help send a missionary. Not all ministries are bad, but the ones that are give all a bad wrap. This is why you must have discernment of the Holy Spirit he will tell you were to give, then let the peace of GOD rule in your heart. 💜

One day, years back I was going around my living room, dining room, looking at stuff that I acquired. I was so prideful, so earthly minded, worshiping things rather than Creator. I look at my Cabinets full of crystals, porcelain stuff, lights. I wandered how can man make such beautiful items? I was adoring it, but God decided to show me something unexpected, a vision. As I laid down on my Couch I felt as my natural eyes were going deep, deep inside my body, and my spiritual eyes opened up and took it's place. I was looking at big, long table full of Jewelry of every kind, treasures unimaginable, I never saw anything like it. Here on Earth does not exist that kind of beautiful colors, or treasures. There were stands for jewelry, items were made from different colors of Gold, Crystal, Diamonds, Pearls. It was such lavish splendor, that I am unable to describe. And then as my vision changed my natural eyes took over, I saw myself looking at the top corner of my living room wall, slowly looking to the bottom. I could not recognize the place. It looked so rubbish, dirty, awful, junk comparing what I just saw, no words to explain and how I felt after seeing that Heavenly vision. It took me 3 days just to adopt back to this earth, to come to myself. Never again do I look at materialism, this Earthly possessions the same way. Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay upfor yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.

So you believe storing up treasures in heaven is only done through giving to the poor? Not through growing in Christ, servitude, building the Kingdom? I think it goes way beyond mere finances to a way of life.

In Phil 4:12-17 Paul says that the Philippian's gifts to him would be credited to their 'heavenly' account. In Matt 10:42 Jesus says that even a cup of water will get a heavenly reward. I like what David is saying about being aware that our church giving isn't just giving to the rich to make us feel better about ourselves, however, based on scripture, giving to the poor is not the only way to store up treasures in heaven. Randy Alcorn's brings a lot of scripture to this in his treasure principle videos.

Thank you so much I've been struggling, between giving to the poor and tithing in church. My wife believes in tithing in the church, and I believe in tithing to the poor. I feel more convicted giving to the poor then I do to the church. Then again I don't wanna feel like a free loader just using the church. Because I used the children's nursery for my kids to go to and The Bible studies.

@Brother Abram • Paying tithes and giving to the poor are two different things and very important. Giving to the poor is you laying up treasure in heaven and lending to God as the bible says it whereas God demands you to pay your tithes in the church where you receive His Word so the will be enough food in His house....i think tithing is obligatory for every Christian. Giving to the poor is not tithing.

To what extent do you feel served by the Church and to what extent do believe the Church is acting in the service of God? If you believe that you are being aided spiritually by your church and that they are carrying out God’s then I do believe that supporting them financially will please God and you will be rewarded for it. There are scriptures like Galatians 6:6 that speak on such things

@@adzoyz3513 Amen! I'm in complete agreement with you. The church I was attending was a very wealthy church, It's important for me to give to a church that needs it. The church I was going to, most of the people were very wealthy & tithing large amounts more then was needed. The church don't really feed the homeless. They upgrade their buildings and make new basketball gyms & offices. This is a church I don't attend to at all anymore. You get a lot of these churches nowadays.

@@emenehilda194 Read your Bible you have been taught that. I know tithing & giving to the poor are 2 different things. The churches are lying about tithing, 11 tribes of Israel had to tith to the Levites Because they didn't go to the promised land. The 11 tribes had to tith 10% so that the Levites can survive. You can read it in the book of Deuteronomy. Tithing has nothing to do with the gentiles, if your church teaches that you should leave it.

Taking care of the Widows, Orphans and the Power was a common practice in the early church. Can you imagine asking one of today's Pastors to sell their belonging and give to the poor? Most of us can be like the young rich ruler.

Descriptions like this is a reason why I have an issue with Sola Scriptura. The literal lens used is in contradiction of how Jesus talked and taught. Look at these comments. A majority of these people are selfish and worried about themselves and what they will obtain. “Should I stop giving to the church and instead give to the poor?” Give to both! Give to both and don’t think about it because you love God. Stop thinking about what is the minimum you can do to get salvation and do all of it to the absolute best of your ability because that’s what God deserves from you because you owe Him everything. May God bless all of you and forgive us of our sins, especially those in most need of thy mercy.

I like to refer to the story of the prodigal son, the Father tells the oldest son all that he has is his. If we call ourselves his children, and to him we call Father God, what else can we possibly ask for but a greater capacity to love more as he loves us? God is love, and I would not even chase after him otherwise because I believe that to be the greatest wealth ever known to man. Just being able to truly love another person is a gift, multiply that by 1000 and the gifts become a treasure of loved ones. But the ultimate treasure is found in loving God, with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind. Now that’s the video everyone needs to pay attention to. Sadly people will think of treasures in heaven as they do on earth, and yet fail to realize the true wealth found in the love they already have.

Our church feeds the poor, clothes them, gives them shelter if needed and helps them find work if needed. Jesus ministry of healing and salvation received donation. Judas as we all know was the treasurer. "And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” Don't be deceived, the devil works in many ways creating confusion

So, I have a couple of questions, 1) who are the "poor" in 2020 America? The pan-handlers who chose to look poor to get free money, or are the "poor" the people on welfare who are getting free money from the government, again, who are the "poor" that we are to give money to? Second, question, what is the purpose of treasure in heaven? We are in heaven, shouldn't that be treasure enough? And if being in heaven with Jesus, God Himself, and all the saints of old, isn't enough, wouldn't having treasure in a environment as heaven

Please don’t call tithing as selfish giving, THAT IS UNBIBLICAL. Bible encourages to tithe old and new testament. Jesus even commended a POOR WIDOW giving to to the temple treasury(a beautiful temple with fine stones etc) Giving is an act of obedience, a practical act of loving. When we give to the church, we support God’s work through His church. There are churches that reach out to the poor, that goes to war stricken places like Ukraine, engage the community and it’s need. In our country, when there’s calamity, church is usually the first ones to mobilize resources and help. And we do this as body of Christ and as a member of this body. I say these because I learned the culture of helping, generosity and serving through the Word and through what I see in the church and somehow slowly being transformed and bringing these values and more to my everyday walk in Christ. ..For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also… GIVING IS A POSITION OF THE HEART… When we give to the church, to the poor, and others in need as led by the Holu Spirit. We give it from and with the LOVE of Jesus…

Your message is incomplete. How will the church thrive without giving? How can missionaries thrive without financial support? I like what you pointed out about giving to the poor, that was great. And then your show closed with "Financial support from viewers like you" - you were able to produce this video because people gave to your production. The apostles had a right to receive support from the church. But they CHOSE not to take it. The gospel can't go to every nation if we are ONLY giving to the poor. How will missions be supported?

David you just seamed to contradict yourself, you said it's about salvation, heaven is the reward, but then you say that it's about some other form of reward as long as I give to the poor. this is a contradiction either it is about awards or the reward of heaven it self, which I agree with you it's about heaven, not that we earn it, but it shows where our heart is.
@DG-mv6zw

If you have a problem with obtaining "rewards in heaven" then you have a problem with scripture. The bible is clear that we can (and should) "store up treasures in heaven for ourselves". Likewise scripture assures us that our "good deeds follow us" into heaven. (Rev 14). This is not to be confused with a works based righteousness. We can do the right thing with the wrong motive, or do the right thing with the right motive.

I would have to disagree. The right church is the filter for discerning correctly how the money is accountable. We give to homeless ministries that’s giving opportunity of the gospel, and investing in our community that’s also making opportunity to declare the gospel. The church has a bigger influence because it is more than one man. Giving to others needs is what ministry is. I would have to strongly disagree with the idea of not holding the church accountable and using the church where Gods ministry is captivated for investing in.
