It's not something you choose, rather more of an involuntary response to emotional stimuli. What we do have control over is how we respond when these feelings manifest. For example let's imagine a scenario where you feel highly insecure about something, you know being human and all. If your significant other wants to actually loves and respects you, they would be compassionate enough to try to understand where your insecurities stem from and help alleviate them. They wouldn't belittle and berate you for having them. Thats how a healthy mature relationship works. Now instead insecurities I was talking about boundaries. Clearly you have difficulty distinguishing between the two. Also I imagine based off the demeanor of your comment that you probably base your judgement on what your personal wants are in the moment. That being said boundaries are definitely sign of self and mutual respect and if you cant function within the confines of someone else's boundaries you should have the maturity to remove yourself from the relationship. ✌️
