Thank you for releasing this. Although it is old, there are so many interesting things to take from it. Seeing you both interact with the Bride and Groom, the guests and, most interestingly, with each other is a real treat. I like the no nonsense, efficient conversations you have with each other that don't allow for any drama, but just work toward the same goal. The group shot discussion that ended with you both wrestling the hammock out of view was a great example. A majority of the edits you did could be done solely in Lightroom now. I'd be interested in how much your editing style has changed now all of the software has matured. I would love to see a wedding where the weather is a complete berk and see how you would still deliver a high end result. Thanks again. I always enjoy your videos - no matter how old! Take care.

I am just checking this out. I'm a quarter of the way through the flash course video. It is the best I have seen. I am in awe of the photographers at this wedding. In most of the wedding tutorials pictures or videos I have seen, the photographers looked like they had dressed out of the rag bin at the local thrift store. It seems as the last 20-30 years in the US, the trashier the wedding attire and decorations, the better. Don't, just don't, look for Diamonds and Denim wedding themes. You will sleep better nights if you never witness one. I will never shoot a wedding, but for what I expect to learn for people pictures and portraits, I expect Lovegrove to be tops. And another thing, Damien is very courteous and respectful to his staff and models. I suspect that he is the same off camera as he is on.

Dear Mr. Lovegrove, Thank you very much again for one more fantastic educational video, I'm very grateful that you share your talent and valuable experience! I'd like to ask two questions: in the backlit pics at Aperture priority, e.g. directly in front of the window, did you use any exposure compensation which brought about the shutter speed written in the caption? Second: some shots are high ISO and high shutterspeed: why not to use ISO automatic?
@LovegroveTraining4 жыл бұрын
Thank you AstroRicky. This was shot 11 years ago and Auto ISO was not a thing on Canon 5D cameras ;) On old school DSLRs I used Aperture Priority with some exposure compensation dialled in for every shot. I looked at the background and chose the amount of compensation depending upon it's brightness. That is all history now as I've shot with mirrorless cameras exclusively for the past 8 years. I work in manual mode and what I see is what I get and there is no need to let the camera make any decisions. Kindest regards, Damien.

@LovegroveTraining11 ай бұрын
The zooms are a bit soggy at f2.8 and more importantly f4 gets both eyes and the tip of the nose sharp whilst maintaining focus separation. We shot f4 for 10 years (400 weddings) and it gave the finished work a consistent look. Just like feature films are shot at one aperture we did the same ;) I hope this helps.

I’m still in that ‘old world’ of DSLR. I’m shooting a beach wedding Saturday, if the weather repeats what it was like today I’ll be shooting my formals with a very strong sun above and behind. There’s at least three full stops to balance out, I’m going armed with 2 Canon 600 speedlight and a Godox AD200 so hopefully I’ll be able to keep some colour and highlights behind and nicely expose the wedding party. I have a smaller mirror less, the M50 but that’s just for video and recce. I’ll move into it soon enough though, will be nice losing some of the weight
