This was recommended to me by KZbin the day before an extreme heat warning of 40 degrees centigrade for the largest cities in England. Luckily I live in the country!!!

I remember Coast to Coast very well. Mike Debens was a great presenter. He seemed to disappear from view a few years into the Meridian franchise. I wonder what happened to him? That theme tune was very upbeat, but the graphics in the title sequence were rather unpolished (especially the rainbow coloured sun beams!). That all changed later in 1987 when CGI arrived and the programme got a whole new slick look which served it well right up to the last day of the TVS era.

We might have been cold, but we were happy. We were happy, because we were cold. The snowflake generation wouldn't have coped in January 1987. We were much tougher back then. Dad would cook a full English breakfast using body heat, if we were lucky!

Most predictable thing about misery reports on snow - they end with happy kids on sleds. And bad weather in the usually tropical South East ???! They got a taste of common life for us northerners for once!
@RW-nr6bh2 жыл бұрын
Outside of London the South East can be very cold in the winter due to the proximity to the continental landmass. London would be colder than it is but for the urban heat island.

3.50? Very odd thing to say? The sea has never frozen? Has it?

@PRO PAINTER PRO DEC: Yes it can freeze, but unlike Freshwater it freezes at lower temperatures. Fresh Water at 32 degrees F. and Salt Water ie the Sea at 28.4 degrees F.

A winter cold spell as severe as January 1987 in London and the SE England is probably virtually impossible in this human induced climatic warming we have in the 2020's just like they said getting to 40c back in July of this year would of being almost impossible under a natural climate conditions of pre industrial era!! So don't expect to see the sea freeze in our lifetime again!!

IDK you get 10 foot of snow and everyone looses their head, I mean so your village is cut off for 4 weeks ands your nan is frozen solid in her rocking chair and everyone is complaining, bloody snow flakes, ha ha. I tell you what I bet the Isle of Sheppey hasn't had snow like that very often.
