I just hate it conceptually. It can disrupt your opponent without warning or preparation on Turn 1. I don't think cards like that should exist in general. I agree it's necessary because of Konami's terrible power creeping practices, but ideally they shouldn't be in the game at all.

The insane power of modern decks just ensures that cards like Ash Blossom will not only be necessary but also be around for a long time, hurting decks that aren't as powerful. And with the best decks, the end of turn board with 4 negates is a total feel bad game state. Nobody wins.

Solemn at 3 just reminds me of beating serious face in tournaments with a deck containing 3x Solemn and 3x Jirai Gumo (Yes, really) about a week after Metal Raiders dropped. Everyone near me seriously undervalued Solemn, until I started a reign of terror that had me winning 3 weeklies in a row without losing a single duel, let alone match, before anyone else got the bright idea to copy me. People didn't seem to get that winning with 1 life point is no different from winning with 10,000. My absolute domination streak was ended in week 4 by losing a single duel to an Exodia deck who added 3 Solemns...I still won the tournament, but I had 3 duel losses...still no match losses.

Thunder and orchust can make borrelsword with their hands tied behind their backs, and salad has like 4 with update jammer-transcode talker otk, borrelsword otk, utopia double otk, and violet chimera otk. Pendulums can vomit their hand on the board, and otk outright. Especially because of utopia double... A single rank 4 is an otk. 2 level 4 monsters=game... Otks are anything but inconsistent... Sure control decks usually have trouble performing otks, but guru has final battle, geist has double hextia, and scapegoat into borrelsword exists for literally every single deck...

As much as I hate dealing with Danger Thunder Dragon Match ups. Thunder Dragons with chaos dragon Levianeer are getting reprints in 2019 Megatins. Guardragons are still new Saryuja is getting reprints in Duel Devastator. They just came out back in February. Thunder Dragons are still going to be a problem going forward this new format. Maybe October after Konomi got there money worth, they will probably hit them.

@@counter5trikeduelist probably so. Especially if Danger Thunder Dragons still too problematic for upcoming decks to deal with like how Zoodiacs were problematic for new releases. Thunder Dragons mostly pretty good and balance but it's Collosis backed by negates that makes most decks including the upcoming ones unplayable because it's difficult to impossible to deal with that oppressive board. Dangers are also somewhat of a problem because they were involved in numerous degeneratecy.
