I love the "rags to riches" story of Elvis. How all the kids at school that picked on him and the adults that said he should stick to driving a truck and couldn't sing all had to eat their words!!! Kinda like Elvis said I'll show you!!!! Also love how Elvis loved his mother so much.

Billy I remember living in one of those kind of buildings where you had to share the bathroom on the floor you lived on. We heated water to bathe in a big metal tub. Years later I put cardboard in my shoes and walked in the snow almost 2 miles to school. This was in Dayton Ohio.

How and when did Vester start working for Elvis? How long did he work for him? Where did they live and where did Cletus work if she did? Was Pasty an only child and how many year between U, Elvis and Pasty? How did Pasty get a job working for Elvis and how many years did she work? Did Vester and Pasty keep get hired and fired as the guys? How Close was Pasty with Elvis, U and Entire Family? Did Pasty ever go and see Elvis Concerts and travel with Him? Thank you for answering my question about the move to Memphis. I was curious how crowded or uncomfortable that car ride was. It must have been a long hard trip because the roads back in those days weren’t maintained as they are now. I had wondered if suitcases of clothing or boxes with memorabilia were tied to the roof or the trunk. Items like Elvis’ crayon box, school report cards, library card & the family Bible (which are on display at Graceland) must have been packed by Gladys.

Your show was great tonight. A lot of nice reminiscing. I think the book Sonny and Red West wrote was a terrible thing to do to Elvis. It was another nail in his coffin. The people who helped Elvis the most were Billy and Jo. Staying and supporting him to the end. Elvis never said a bad thing about anyone publicly. At that time there was alot about Elvis in the tabloids and my mother said to me that I couldn't even get them either because she was not spending money on lies. Hello Smith Family God speed to Danielle. I don't know Dr. Nick as a person or any of tbe other doctors , But as a person a part of the medical community I have no respect for the way these physicians abused their profession totally going against their oath to cause no harm . I totally feel it was revenge with the book and then regret unable to rectify their actions , I do feel Red and Sonny loved Elvis and vice or versa , It was anger that manifested and got out of control oppose to allowing time to take care of the rift. The end was extremely sad. For everyone involved . TYFS. Be blessed.

Have y’all ever been back to what is now called The Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas? You can still see shows on the same stage Elvis made famous at the then International Hotel. There’s a great video of his penthouse suite today on KZbin done by Jordan the Lion. I’ll never stop missing that man. Thanks for sharing your wonderful memories and thoughts with us all. The Elvis family is strong. The part that hurt me so much about Elvis, What Happened was the animal abuse with Scatter. That crushed me and made me hate Lamar Fike for electrocuting him and Elvis for hitting him with a pool cue. It really made me bitter for a long time and if Elvis was their target they sure exposed Lamar for being a dirtbag. See, I still get angry about it and knowing how poor Scatter passed alone, it’s just soul crushing. ❤

In an interview Red West stated that he and Sonny confronted Elvis and suppliers in Las Vegas about the drug usage. And that after a few times and not very long after the last time he was fired by Vernon at the behest of Elvis. I suppose that no one is left that can verify that story.

Question for Billy: Where and when did Elvis get a copy of the Zapruder film? The film of the JFK assassination was hidden from most of the public until 1975 when it was shown on Geraldo Rivera's show. How did Elvis get his hands on it and what did he think?
