My review of the Heavy Whisker Seeker Catfish Rod!
I've owned a few of these rods over the past few years. I bought the new 9.5 foot rod as soon as Whisker Seeker released it. It is a very stiff rod that is good for casting your bait far if you use a strong shock leader. The shorter 7.5 footer is a great kayak rod because of how light weight it is. Now I have had a few issues with my rods which the Whisker Seeker customer service have fixed pretty quick.

The newer 7.6 Heavy Action FMJ signature rods from WhiskerSeeker rock! Pure beasts. Ive got mine paired up with an Abu Garcia 7000c3 Catfish Special and it launches. I dont know why people have an issue casting the 7000s. They ar great for spillways and rivers with heavy currents.

Re-visiting a few of your older vids and hoping to see a review of the new FMJ rod if you've had time to evaluate it. Currently out of the 2pc. 9'6H but high on my wish list for the new 6500 on order. At 9'6 I don't need the trigger after testing (2 very different) 9' trigger rods yesterday afternoon. Good workout, liking the composite theory after 9' of E-Glass!

great honest review, I look forward to your new video's...BTW whats a shock leader?
@TNRVG
@TNRVG 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! A shock leader is about 8 foot or more of monofilament that absorbs the cast. Braid doesn't stretch so when you do a surf cast with heavy weight it can break.

Great Video! I've never used the Rippin Lips but I do use the 9ft and 10ft Rippin Stix they make. I've slung 6oz on them with ease, there rated for 2-8oz I think. I've bank flipped 10lb fish with them multiple times. You can't beat them for the price. I think there $20-$30 on amazon.

Have you tried either Rod either the 7 ft 6 or the 9.5 carp whisker seeker heavy rods for carp fishing just wondering if you would think they would be flexible enough, what your opinion on that would be for carp fishing. Love the videos.

Great video and thanks for the review. I would like to get your opinion on something. I'm trying to decide between a WS 7'6" Heavy power and a Shattered Cat rod. What's your opinion of the two? They are close in ratings and the SC is graphite while the WS is a composite. SC has aluminum reel seat and stainless eyes which seem to be a little more durable. I'm mostly concerned with action and feel though.
@TNRVG
@TNRVG 6 жыл бұрын
The Shattered Cat has a big handle on it. It's like a WS blank with good eyes but a monster handle. I think the WS heavy power rod is a little stronger than the SC too. Thanks for watching!

I know River Certified uses the 9.5 foot as a float rig. I think it's a little too stiff for live bait. It's easier to cast the bait right off the hook with a stiff rod. I have done that several times with my 7.5 foot heavy. I recently bought a Medium Heavy 7.5 foot Okuma Record Chaser rod. It's less stiff and casts floats like a dream. My most recent video is right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJXam4qqqMSLl6M

Dude I have one of the kastking with the rover 60 and it's one of the best "kasting" lol rod and reel combos I've dealt with granted I'm a novice but it was a Christmas gift from my amazing sis in law and my pride and joy! Rod sees frequent weekend usage and has given no complaints! Also big shout out to the kastking braid as well which I use on all my reels, super durable stuff! My mother in law also got me a kastking royale legend reel with matching kastking medium bass rod and I slam the hell outta them bass like a boss! I'm sure kastking has some problem children out there and it sucks when that happens but let's be "reel" lol I've seen Lew's, Abu, and other name brands take a shit as well! My go to do all reel is a Penn Battle II my mother bought me awhile back which has been a killer reel but we had gotten a basic Berkley Cherrywood MH to get by with till I found a rod I was content with and I wanted something a little more on the small side rod wise that would kick some kat ass that I could store in the truck so I stumbled upon this whisker seeker 38 in rod which will now be replacing my cherrywood and become my go to always in the truck companion with that Penn battle attached as soon as it arrives! So of course in anticipation of arrival I'm all giddy and not sleeping and up KZbin'n whisker seeker shit and find your kick ass videos and just loved the review! Beautiful catches and as Danny Jones mentioned check out a Kastking, you wont be disappointed! I just hope the whisker seeker is as much fun! Appreciate your time and vids brother! Happy fishing!

That was actually an Abu 6500C3 Catfish Special on the 9.5 foot rod. From what I am told and have seen smaller reels cast further than bigger ones. It doesn't hold that much mono on it which is what I switched to after breaking 50 pound braid on cast multiple times. I think the reel had some strange issues going on (Chinese parts sent to Sweden?) and the stiff rod causing the breaks. I really needed to use a shock leader with that setup.
