Love Jihad sounds biased term. Unless it is officially defined panelists should use 'alleged'. It's a fact that conversions are happening for the sake of marriage in multiple religions. This issue revolves around ethnicentrism, women marginalization, religion asserting it's dominance over individualism, patriarchy, right to life etc. Associating a particular word which is a more political than social term isn't how it should be done. Anyway, RSTV is government owned so it's not surprising.

I don't understand why people are so much concerned with a thing called love jihad which doesn't even have any real presence..It is a term coined by the BJP government and its sanghi allies to stop the marriages between Muslims and Hindus..also, it's simply disgusting how this term disregards the agency of women who willingly choose to marry a person of different religion and convert into the religion of their spouse..These are adult women who take this decision very consciously as they themselves have time and again said..The people who mainly have problem with this thing are those who are against the concept of interfaith marriage and treat their women as some kind of object that needs to be protected from the so called culprit jihadi Muslims..The entire discussion went over my head and Kumaramangalam didn't even have any idea what she was talking about but whatever! I think Love Jihad is specifically directed towards the forced conversions and also fraudulent marriages (eg hiding identity and marrying). It's a question of free will and fraud in a broad sense. Conversion after marriage is not taken I'm account I guess as it doesn't count. The religion at the time of marriage is taken in account in law!

What the constitution allowing is one sided justice. A Hindu girl foregoes all the benefits by marrying to a Muslim. Like !) Loss of ALIMONY 2) Property Rights 3) Nikah is a one sided contract 4) Muslim's right to marry more than one can cause enormous loss to Hindu girl and finally Divorce as per Hindu Marriage Act. Law makers should come out with a different set of Law. Alos, under Special Marriage Act, notification in public space about proposed marriage is not enough. Most of the times it won't get noticed by any related party. UCC could not become Useless Civil Code

Not to sound rude but kumarmanglam madam was not aware of the secularism concept in terms of Indian Constitution. Our Constitution makers specifically chose positive secularism. As per this secularism all religions enjoy equal status and equal respect from the state. It was never meant to bring complete separation of state and religion. And Sai Deepak sir as always was pragmatic and straight forward. 👍

In my opinion, if conversion is by free will, the Court shouldn't inquire into the reason for such conversion. Such conversions may be for pragmatic reasons. For eg. If a Muslim girl wants to marry a Hindu boy and her muslim faith and name will bring troubles for her would be husband, then she is well within her rights to convert to hinduism (and have a hindu name) though she may not believe in hindu faith. For such couples, if they retain their individual religious identities, finding a convenient accommodation is a challenge. The moment landlord/owner sees that his wife or her husband is a muslim, they won't let out their property to such a couple even if they are financially sound and of good character. This is the ground reality of the Indian society. Then, Is the spouse wrong if he/she converts? The reason for such conversions is the idiot society that has forced him/her to do so.
