The fact that you have BOP adjustments on top of a changing default BOP was a recipe for a mess from day one. Also only having weight to make the BOP adjustments also is not correct. You could potentially have a car that is fastest on the straights but slower over a full lap have receive a weight reduction making it even faster on the straights rendering it impossible to overtake.

My idea is to make a 15min hotstint server and balance the car based on the average lap time. In that way you can test quali pace and tyre wear effect. But ain't no one have time for that because it takes so much time and effort from the top guys as the error % will increase

You take the top 1000 or top 2000 ranked players on LFM and extract data from their quali and races (that is already BOP'd). This means, you have a mean, the average time per car per that track and perhaps a couple of exceptions, people on p1 or p2 that are 3,4 tenths quicker. If that happens more often, by more people in different instances, you add BOP. If the average Ferrari is in the top 10 on Spa for example, and everyone else is behind it with a tenth or 2, more BOP to the Ferrari. They must have this data, yet they don't implement it. Taking data from 1 single hotlap without any further knowledge or bop applied already is shit.. you have 1 quick guy setting a rediculous, maybe even lucky time that will never be beaten again and you car gets f*cked with BOP. Again, they have the data from their own race servers, they should take a bigger sample size and average out a laptime. If that average laptime from a certain car gets too big, slap it with some BOP.

I'll be honest with you Kryptic, I absolutely do not agree with you on this. My team and I were begged by many to do the LFM BoP since it has been reset with the new update and even though I've solo BoP'd entire tracks it's still not good enough for people and if I say I'm not going to do it people get in a fuss and say it's my fault for not doing it like it's my obligation. The conclusion is that no matter what I or my team do we are always wrong, and I don't believe it's fair to pin this on us when we have ultimately made it closer than it has ever been in the history of ACC.

I get what your saying and if you watched the whole vid i did say its not your fault and its not your Job i even stated you shouldnt be punished just because your super fast. My point was because you are so quick you are a exception to the rule those one or two extra tenths that you are able to find are invisible to the majority, thats why i said if you took the average lap time from the top 5 fastest times it might improve the balance further. Like i said in the vid nobody should have to do this because this is Kunos job and it shouldnt be down to one person to have to BOP every single car on every single track.

i think he was praising your talents & questioning a complex system more than any people.. im slow, so bop doesnt really affect me apart from the mental burden of extra weight on a car, but it was intersting to see opinions from the top tier drivers who it can affect. LFM Bop does improve the grid variation & Im sure many thank you for the efforts, i thought it was the whole leagues data from all drivers in selected seasons. Its still a relativly new 'add-on' to the game & a forced fresh start after the update changed things again, they dont always get it right in real world racing so i presume working out & creating a virtual system is extremely difficult for whoever does that. Your unique times should certainly be included in whatever system is there is outside of kunos' default.

I have a solution : lfm need to nerf Mccormack 😄 the actual problem with the custom bop is that it was reset since kunos modify the game bop with 1.9.6. Now it need more time to be more efficiency rebalanced just like before this patch

A hotlap is never representative of a cars race performance. Therefore setting race BoP on hotlap data has never been a good idea. It's better than no BoP, but it's not as great as it was made out to be. Race BoP needs to be based on race data. LFM and AOR slould look at race results to set the BoP, not hotlaps. LFM surely has enough data from their daily races to fill that gap.

Nice thought, but not feasible. Races have too many variables you can't factor out by just looking at the race results. Even averaging everything out, you cant know what happened. It also has to be crude, so it's not overly complicated to apply algorithms and formulas to have product (in this case a BoP data sheet) in the end. Standardized hotlaps in the same condition is the best thing LFM can do with only be able to apply KG as BoP.

@@slawli8 Mkay, that doesn't make sense, since BOP is not done by looking at EVERYONE. It already happened on AOR this season. Ferrari was so heavily BOP during evaluation, and then corrected one day before 1st race, because they didn't do it right. It will always favor the guys who did the BOP "testing". BOP should be done differently.

@@AdamIsailovic fastest drivers do BoP and show the pace of the cars and bop is done accordingly. As it should be. They show the max of the cars and they get bopped accordingly. And there is no „in favour“. There are multiple teams doing BoP so everyone’s car will be balanced

For me the car is the car. Certain cars are better at certain tracks. Bop removes realism in my view

Not really, that's how SRO, DTM, IMSA, WEC, creventic etc. also do it. These organizations sometimes change the BoP even between qualification and race (and creventic sometimes even during the races). The aim should always be a level playing field, but it is hard to achieve.

These cars have to be balanced against each other in real life. It’s not exclusive to simulators but when it’s wrong it’s more noticeable because you have thousands of people testing it hundreds of times a day.
