I'm a fairly conservative guy and I couldn't care less if Romain is in a skirt, dress or in his undies. He's a God level guitarist and great vocalist. I often follow his stuff, but not as closely as Ren's, I admit. But he's an awesome artist who deserves a lot more attention than he gets.

The guy in the kilt is called Romain Axisas. He's a French lad who used to be Ren's flatmate in Brighton. He makes his own music which I highly recommend you check out. Goran is the guy on bass. He's also a really good singer and plays multiple instruments including the harmonica. He's currently in France busking. The drummer has left doing music after getting married.

I call this my favorite video on KZbin. Always leave it feeling better than before I watched it. Romain Axisa(pronounced like the lettuce 🥬 ), was the guitarist with the solo/mini skirt. He’s French and has a different style, so I’m not 100% that was a kilt😂 He was Rens roommate for 5-6 years. They never had a fight and remains as one of Rens close friends. He also makes his own amazing music and has his own KZbin channel. Gorran Kendall, (shirtless guitarist), he’s English, and also lived with Ren, but not for as long as Romain. He too makes his own great music, and has his own channel on KZbin. His music is more folk style music, Bob Dylan is a big influence for instance. Glenn Chambers is the drummer, believe he’s Irish. He’s moved on from music, and is married and living in Australia. *All three guitarists play multiple instruments. Gorran plays a mean harmonica, Romain plays piano as well. And of course, Ren does his Ren things.

What Ren calls "retakes" is when he takes someone else's song and adds at least some of his own lyrics (like the rap he does between Back on 74 + Message in a Bottle); most times, he doesn't do any of the original artist's lyrics at all (like Halftime, Losing It, Bitter Sweet Symphony etc) When he doesn't add any of his own lyrics, like here (scatting notwithstanding I guess lol) it's just a cover version/a medley of covers. 👍

Gorran's hair was sweating and a snarled mess, no dreadlocks. Out of all the yrs they played together I have never seen any of the boys have any braids or whatever. Never even seen a tattoo on any of them. I have seen them play in their underwear before. Ska like Nah, Blah, Ma - skahh Enjoyed your reactions! In Ren-i-verse: •Covers are mostly the same lyrics of the original, the music might be like the original, but usually with a twist •Mash-ups combine one or more songs simultaneously to create a completely new musical composition •Retakes usually have (more or less) the music of the original, but with new lyrics There are exceptions. "Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake" is a weird one because it starts off as a cover of '74 lyrically, but the music has changed a bit. Then you notice a riff from Message in a Bottle incorporated, which would make it a Mashup. But, Ren being Ren, he throws in his own naughty bars, which makes it a "retake" since it incorporates new material. Did that help? 😆 I absolutely love this (and all the performances from the Ren-in-red-suspenders day).

There are (at least 3) waves of Ska. Bob and the wailers actualy where more ska when they started out. Story goes. Ska turned into Reggga when a espacially warm summer when people could hold uo the fast tempo.. 2nd wave ska was driven in brittan at the turn of 70-80 and was paralel to punk and there sertainly where some crossovers . But the 3rd wave(90ies) ska is where ska-punk was 'big' . You can read more and check videos to dug into the ska history.

Initially being Ren, Romain and Gorran with Glenn joining later to play drums. Gorran and Romain met busking, Romain and Ren then met through Facebook while Ren was trying to find a flat mate. They would all busk together and Glenn would sit in as drummer while also playing bass with another friend Rafa. They then decided to become a band and would take to the streets of Brighton and also created masterpieces of their own. They played numerous gigs including a sold out tour of the U.K. and also released a 6 track EP called “Can Do Will Do”. They busked together for the last time on 14th December 2022 and played their final gig at the Brighton Dome a short while later. Having to go on hiatus due in part to Ren moving to Canada for medical treatment and their lives going in different directions. Although they remain good friends and Ren and Romain have mentioned wanting to play together again. Here's a little UK cultural phenomenon for you.? In the 70s and 80s Ska was part of what's known as Two Tone. Because the fans of that genre would wear white and black when going to gigs. It was populated by the Afro-Carribean culture in the UK, and, also Skinheads who loved the punk aspect of the genre. However, the Skinheads (characterised by Cherry red doc martens, skin tight blue jeans, bomber jackets with a tight white or black T-shirt underneath and shaved heads to the skin) were very violent and ultra racist towards any other races, especially the Black, Indian and Pakistani communities. However, Two Tone brought those two wildly antipode cultures together on the dancefloor. Two Tone gigs were seen as no man's land. Neutral zones. No one would touch each other in violence, as they were both there for one thing only - the love of that style of music. To understand that part of British history in the early 80s, watch the film "This is England"? It's set around 1983 and focuses on the Skinhead movement. It's directed by Shane Meadows and stars Stephen Graham, who was also in Snatch, Gangs of New York, Boardwalk Empire (as Al Capone), Peaky Blinders, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Irishman.

So have you guys watched Genesis the live version ? It’s not you have to check it out but if you want to catch some old Ren you guys should react to “Crutch”. He was in his early to mid twenties when he made the video. You get to see his musical genius early on. It’s more of an emotional song, slow song about one of his girlfriends. I think the only girl that he was ever engaged to and if you want something more upbeat, I don’t know if you guys have reacted to castles made of sand the additional song that he put on, the album last minute to push it to number one. But it’s hard to find the video. It’s an amazing tune, however. Both of those are awesome songs that are very different one old one new one slow one fast.. I think Castle made of sand you guys will really like. So do them both because they are kind of hard to find so I’m sure you will get a lot of views on them. Romain did an interview a while back... said that they saw a dress once that they liked, so bought it and wore it. Clothes don't have gender, it is just cloth... if you like it, wear it... only sheep care what others think. Takes a lot of confidence to do that. Romain is one hell of a musician... I love watching how Romain gets lost in the music. Ren executes everything perfectly, he's like a conductor, a scholar at the top of his profession; Romaine becomes one with the music, there's no separation. Together they make one hell of a great team.
