Use a short piece of EMT pipe to break the threaded rod by bending it up and down like a snap tie.

You two are awesome because you smile and have a 'can do' attitude. The walls turned out very nice and the ceiling/roof will be fun to watch when you construct the forms for the concrete pour. The rock crusher has been a great investment to provide you with a year around driveway. (No more muddy driveway.) It is nice to see the kids being involved so they will have a sense of ownership in this root cellar project. They will not forget how they helped building the walls and road/rock covering. Big blessing to you all.

Considering the quarry that you're working in, I'd say that is excellent! You're never going to see the outside wall anyway. Just that much thicker in those areas of the wall! Inside looks great. As someone I know says, "ain't nothin' wrong with dat."

the progress is looking very good, the beto is wel formed, don't mind the outerwall, you will never see it after the house is build. And the road is getting such a good surface, but it would have been better to have foil underneath of the rocks. They will mostlikely sink into the mud, fairly rappid.

If you use a small piece of conduit and put the all thread through it makes it easier to pull the boxing apart and you can patch the little hole we’re the conduit is in the wall

Nice work love your building skills👍👍 A bulge in the outer wall. This is nonsense. Interior walls turned out perfect |👍It is possible to set up small bonfires around a lower structure next to the concrete... and isolate pipes. That it won't warp... a dry wall, the sealing is perceived better

A one and a half foot small pipe that will just fit the all thread and bend it back and forth for future needs

G’day, from Townsville Australia, you certainly have your work cut out for you. Just a thought: modify the trailer for the rock mill so it sits just where you want, the right height for loading the scoop, with a grid floor at the best height for access, allow for adding like sluice that swivels much like a concrete truck. The problem with us viewers is we concoct all sort of mods that we think may help but what matters is what you can afford. I enjoy watching your family work together. Stay safe and healthy.

Enjoy watching you guys! Just a note. Learn when to use other parts of your hammer. For example, for bending the all threads up and down to break them, don't use the head. Turn the hammer sideways and use the broad side between the head and claw to hit with. You won't miss and it will really decrease the number of hits you need. Keep up the good work!

Hi Jacob, i watch all your videos. Great job... I'm wondering instead concrete walls, would 8" thick concrete block wall with vertical and horizontal rebar filled with concrete in all pockets ok for this application? The walls are not that high and the horizontal span are not that wide... Btw i am in the y area guess 15-20 miles away from you?

@@aboulderlifeoffgrid if you spray on a sealer they shouldn't be a problem, and given the uneven surface, a spray might be best. Moisture isn't a big problem in AZ like it was when doing basements in MN. Don't know about now, but when I built my MN home they used tar for all below-grade surfaces. I suspect there are more modern products. I know people also insulate on the outside of the foundation too. Are you considering in-floor radiant heating when pouring the slab? When my childhood home was built, my dad put in a downdraft forced air furnace and ran all the plenums and registers in the floor. Poured the cement slab right over them. Conversely, the swamp cooler vents were all in the ceiling/attic....so cold came down from the top, heat up from the bottom. Yes, two systems, but more efficient.

Not really. ICF is expensive, and we don't really need the insulation. The way we did it was more work, but all the wood we used is going to get reused in other projects. Appreciate it, thanks 😊.

If the forms didn't collapse when pouring the walls, it is a success. The appearance, especially on the outside wall is irrelevant. I would be looking for places where the concrete didn't flow into some section of the wall, not where seams bulged. But that is based on my assumptions, rather than any particular expertise or experience.

You did a great job hope you applied diesel fuel on the forms it prevent the forms from sticking to the concrete also you can apply on the outside of the concrete black tar and polystyrene
