A Boulder Life Off Grid

Күн бұрын

Our biggest goal while building our homestead from scratch is to remain debt free. We are excited to get more storage on our homestead, clean out our storage unit and have one less bill to pay. This week we build a platform that our new metal shed will sit on.
Thanks for watching as we live and learn building our off grid debt free homestead from scratch! Please be sure to subscribe to follow our journey as we work to develop our raw land and build our home all DIY. #offgrid #diyhomebuild

You folks are a heart-warming team and work well together as you work on projects. You say positive, supportive and encouraging things to each other and you model how a married couple should function so you kids learn how to be positive with each other. The deck will be a great foundation for the shed. Many blessings to all of you.

Great job. Dad bought 4 railroad refrigerated boxcars for storage, 2 on my place, 1 on my sisters, and he kept 1. They were $1500-2000 each delivered. They removed the wheels and put them on 8-10 railroad ties. Great storage,

That's the best idea. Build your own shed and stop paying rental. It pays for itself in the end. Plus your stuff is right there on your property...very accessible.

might think about putting some ground anchors in and tying that platform down so a wind does not get under it and sends it somewhere you do not want it to go.

You know, another thing is before you put that down if you'll turn it upside down and put bubble. The little full bubble around underneath it are against the plywoodto where mice do not like it. They will not eat it. They will not chew on it for some reason. I've seen several people do that. And they say it works wonderful. But it's only like a eighth of an inch to a quarter of an inch thick, and it's just a bubble rap. It's got air pockets and you can buy it, and you put it on there and then you put your plow. You put it on your studs and then you put. I went down in the my do not eat through it

Are you consider build a storage house ? You have kids they are growing and have their own stuff later on , the storage they could use for their bike , dirt bike , I’m so impressed what you both did , taking care of the kids and build your own home at the same time , what a great effort job , your children such a great kids , with a lot of respect and moral , I could see there is a bright path you walk in to success

You guys have a great channel. Bin binge watching. I need to get started on my channel. Need to build a timber frame shop, a shed and a sugar shack among other things. My shop equipment is in storage so I know the stress relief of getting your stuff on your dirt. The rock crusher is a grand idea. Funny thing is that any job is always more work than expected. LOL

I love how your homestead is growing.. i missed seeing your kids.. they are a pip! Will you tie down the shed? Hurricane ties? With a metal shed it might take off with a gust of wind and being off the ground?

Question: I am working on a cost analysis of the viability of your Rock pulverizer (Rocksand). Looking at one in my neck of the woods, used, in good shape, 3k bucks. I can work out all the math except for one prime factor involving buy rocks direct or the rock crusher. Can speculate costs but that of course is always inaccurate over a 10% waste expectation. Perhaps you can help. How much would you calculate your total expenses are for a road 100 yards long. including all fuel and repairs you have encountered. Also including the transportation cost not limited to travel times for parts or materials. IE.. your loader fuel needed for material handling. ATV costs and so on. You are the modern-day pioneers so Am not factoring in labor elements. Very much enjoy watching your works and thank you for sharing with others. Imagine if KZbin was available back in the 1800's of pioneers in their time. all the lost knowledge we could have had in today's age. Thanks
@aboulderlifeoffgrid
@aboulderlifeoffgrid 8 ай бұрын
That's kind of hard to answer since we haven't been keeping track. But a ballpark answer for 100 yards of road would be 60 to 70 bucks. That's with fuel, repairs, and grease. Take into consideration that that's with our unit. A different unit may need more or less repairs. Thanks for asking, and good luck. 🙂
