Honestly, the LMG universe is unique. Linus talking about his relationship with Yvonne and his employees, as well as the internal processes of his business (to a degree) is far from the norm. And I love it. You guys deserve every success you achieve. Linus and Yvonne together in vids is so adorable. Linus is pretty self aware and he is very open with his own limitations. Also he is not a fool when it comes to common misconceptions about a variety of concepts. He exhibits the quality of understanding what he doesn't know, which is a bigger deal than some people might realize. I love this creator group. Shoutout to everyone else at LMG. I agree with Luke looking at the repair option as being negative. To me it just seems like they're providing an option to show to regulators that they are "trying" to offer avenues to repair your own devices but make it so cost and time prohibited that it's just easier to take it back to apple and have someone else fix it for say, $10.

Apple did not partner with a third-party to make the self-service repair program. I know this because I asked the support people in the chat and they said that the company that owned it was founded on the same day the self-service repair program was launched. Also when I ask them what company are you owned by they said they’re partner of Apple well I think it is just a way to say we are owned by Apple. Even though I am a apple sheep I think that Apple did this on purpose to make it seem like a third-party and look very sketch to make people not incentivised to buy this

It's not nearly as simple as that. Every few months apple (and google) change requirements, require you to use a new API level, or implement something new. At the moment, as long as your app is already approved you don't need to worry about it. But as soon as you need to push an update, you get hit with these new requirements. When you update to the new API, your framework breaks. When you update your framework, half your libraries break. When you update your libraries, the synthax is different and some of your code breaks. Or you need to re-purchase the library to update. Or the library developer went awol and you need to find a new one. I currently maintain 12 apps for different clients. Some of them haven't been updated for years and still work perfectly fine. If apple forces people to update every app once per year, it will be a huge strain on many companies with multiple apps and yet another reason for people to get further alienated and move to android.

For the apple update topic. Once a year they require you to target a newer xcode version to be able to upload. It will than support something like the new ipad mini screen. If you run a new build with the new xcode version and upload it, it should be fine and it will support the new devices. If you have a app that was not uploaded in years, it is build with a real old xcode version that did not spport the new stuff. I think that is the main reason.

Dealing with a regulatory agency is much different than dealing with police. The agency has legal backing to issue fines. They don't need to sue anyone, and they can control or revoke business licenses. It's literally the job of the agency to care. Where police literally almost never care. At least in the US consumer reports to the FCC and FTC result in action. Just look at the NZXT fire issue that Gamer's Nexus reported to the Consumer Product Safety Comission. While I can see why Linus latched on to the banner ad detail of Poki's tweet, I think he brushed past the larger point of the intrusivness of Twitchs adverts. Ludwig has a good comparison on KZbin VS Twitch adds and basically: - KZbin tracks the time since you've been served an ad so you won't get overloaded, where Twitch serves you a full 3-minute ad everytime you click on a new stream making it hellish for people who like to jump around (which is big on Twitch) - Twitch spends A LOT of money on R&D and hasn't implemented anything new in years. There is a lot of bloat (just like how Twitter sounds) Poki's idea of 'less obtrusive' ads makes sense when you consider that a full screen full audio 3 minute ad is fine, except for a on a live stream. This gives the feeling of fulling missing out on the content and is frustrating. Now imagine if they increase the length and frequency of those ads. Wild. It's definitely a challenging problem to solve from all sides but some way to make the ads less obtrusive but still worth the advertisers money would be ideal. Perhaps even looking to live sports broadcasts where for some sports they shrink the content to a small box and take the audio and visual over but that way you can still see some of what's going on. Or heck maybe even a new ad/sub teir that is only about not interrupting audio something will probably need to change.

I'm an android developer but I haven't released anything for iPhone natively but in Android development we have to specify which Android os systems are compatible within the manifest file. We also have to specify resolutions and width/height compatibility because Android doesn't have a intuitive description for phones and tablets for compatibility checks within Google play. The way I see it if developers are not updating compatibility with newer devices running on modern os and specs then Apple can see a project as abandoned and taking up space withing thier cloud application storage..

The problem with ads on twitch is that twitch is a live streaming platform. Its not like where if an ad plays on a YT video the video pauses. While Linus is right that non-disruptive ads do not bring in any real revenue, disruptive ads are also counter productive as it drives away views more then any other platform. Wish they would have gone into that more.

I understand the situation that would make apple say ‘we should start removing old, un-updated apps because it wastes storage and hasn’t been updated in a significant period of time’. ( Unless I don't know you find a way to make sure it goes viral, I can totally forgive ya if ya'll felt it would help with the views; just leave me outta it. LoL not that I'm against being part of anything, more so that I offer these words freely; wither they be unseen, unread, denied, ignored or accepted. ) Perspective is key, and it's clear you love your wife; as she in turn loves you. It's awesome she's trying to be open more, and it's awesome your encouraging her to do so. You said her biggest flaw was insecurity, and you encouraged her by claiming it was great, but even though she did great and no one would care she didn't do any of the hundred of things she could have done, it's not who cares.... She cares man, she notices. Solid legit of course she knows your there for her, it's hearsay to legitimize she's not. Just perspectively feeling seen or being notice is important. Wise words nobody ever shared with me, but they say in practice comes understanding, and understanding brings clarity; and with clarity the perspective one may have lacked In the reflection of something they knew over reflecting a practical demonstration of understanding something they'd devote their life to define by never settling upon known why as something they knew but didn't understand. So to all those Tl:Dr'er's who didn't make it to the end I hope you understood what others may not have, and I hope yoo to never gave up trying to understand; to those who have tried, I wish you the most. I hope your noticed by more then a stranger who's left you this message by attempting to share something he'd didn't know, but understood his devotion to demonstrating his understanding of what he'd never claim to know or seek accolades for or by thinking he knew anymore then anyone else. Tyler Durden ( not me, but what better advice is there then by someone who doesn't exist? To be forgotten doesn't mean ones effort need identity, in fact rather the latter; let my efforts go in vain and of there truth let them lay right here. Or in the reflected of those who understand honorable acts cause no harm and need not be acknowledged and/or be reciprocated by others; or be used to solicit, motive or radicalize other by attempting to define something they didn't know by not surrender their knowledge of them as irrelevant. )
