@@iTalkStudios The 2015 Mets had a glaring weakness for the season that was simply magnified in the WS. They were a poor defensive team that relied a lot on the home run ball. The Royals game was putting pressure on the defense, playing small ball and grinding out at bats which obviously didnt go well for the Mets. The Mets hit a 2 run shot, while the Royals hit back to back singles,swipe a base, and make the poor defense make bad throws,passed ball,etc

@moonshadow not entirely true. The Mets were an average fielding team, however they did make a lot of fielding mistakes in the World Series.
@henrycalde19912 жыл бұрын
@@alwillk Lucas Duda was an extremely poor defensive 1st baseman, as was Daniel Murphy on 2nd base. The Royals exploited their infield defense like an open wound and ran wild on the bases. One thing I forgot to mention was that the Mets starting pitchers were primarily strikeout pitchers, and the Royals were a very tough team to strike out because of their approach at the plate. That said, instead of striking out they would put the ball in play and force the shoddy infield defense to make plays.

I would argue that losing one game isn’t nearly as much of a choke job as having a 3-0 or a 3-1 series lead and losing the series. That’s a real choke job. To be fair I blame Ron Washington for that “choke job” the most. He should have put in a defensive upgrade in right but left Cruz in out of sheer hubris.

Everyone brings up 2020, but the most painful Braves choke was the 1996 World Series against the Yankees. The Braves finally won it all in '95 and started the '96 Series by dominating the first two games in New York, and despite a close Game 3 loss had a 6-0 lead in Game 4 to possibly be up 3-1. The bullpen blew a massive lead and then lost the game in extras. It took all momentum and life out of the Braves, and the Yankees wrapped it up at home in Game 6. That series is truly the difference between the 90s Braves being remembered as a true dynasty, and people reflecting on so many missed chances to do more in the postseason beyond '95.

The thing I've learned for the Mets is it's never over until it's over. Usually for us it's the negative side where the Mets could choke at any second but this year it's been quite the opposite. We score 7 runs in the 9th against the phils and then down 4 runs in the first inning (also against the phils) they battle back to tie it and then when the phillies take the lead again they battle back to tie it again and battle again to take the lead for the first time in the game and win it. You just never know what may or may not happen until the 27th out is recorded. EDIT: Man I feel bad for rangers fans with Nelson Cruz missing that catch. If only he realized the game wasn't over and then their fans would have a world series win.
@87Khein2 жыл бұрын
The 1993 and 1996 Braves both were favored to win it all and choked horribly. That 1991-1996 window for Atlanta should have resulted in a minimum of three World Series titles but only resulted in one. The Yankees still probably would have become a dynasty in the late '90s but the Braves should have had their own dynasty before New York's.
@chesberger4474 Жыл бұрын
1996 was a choke in game 4 of the WS for sure. 1993 however was a little different. The braves spent so much to catch the giants to finally win the division. When they played the phils, they were spent emotionally. The phils were also built to beat a team like the braves via hitting singles and doubles rather than homers. I agree that the braves were the best team in 1993, but I believe the journey just wore them down.

Like the 2005 NLDS Game 4? Had a 5-run lead going into the Bottom of the 8th only to have it cut to 1 on a Lance Berkman Grand Slam. The Astros tied the game on a 2-out HR by Ausmus that just barely cleared the yellow line. The Braves had chances to take the lead in extra innings but couldn't do it. The Astros went on to win the game and the series on a Chris Burke HR to left in the Bottom of the 18th.

Can u make a video about Harper winning MVP and proving himself to Phillies fans after getting booed plenty of times?

He deserves the MPV, but going 0-11 in the final series against the Braves which decided the winner of NL east, i am sure something bryce don't want to remember.

Maybe doesn't live up to these choke in magnitude, but Elvis Andrus Vs the Blue Jays in 2015 was a pretty epic collapse. Seems like the Texas Rangers have a knack for making this list lol

If you want the biggest chokes in sports history then all you have to do is watch any pre 2021 Atlanta team

1960 the Yankees had a 3 run lead in the 8th, pirates scored 5 in the bottom of the inning, Yankees tied it with 2 in the 9th, Pirates won with the famous Maz homer in the bottom of the 9th.

The biggest choke is the brewer vs nationals wild card in 2019
@shauncameron83902 жыл бұрын
Hader hasn't the same ever since. You can also add the 2019 NLDS Game 5. Kershaw giving up back-to-back HR's to let the Nationals tie the game in the Top of the 8th. And the Nationals took the game over in the Top of the 10th with a Howie Kendrick Grand Slam.

2004 Yankees for sure BUT the Rangers being one strike away from a WS in 2011 is a very close second. One strike. That will haunt you for the rest of your life.

Cubs Marlins, and you can't blame Bartman. The ground ball through the shortstop's legs opened the floodgates and initiated another huge choke

Not sure why Altuve is in the thumbnail. He doesn’t commit any more errors than anyone would in that position.

Ikr. It’s funny how Altuve always gets hate and made fun of for like 1 error but yet, Tatis makes 5 and no one bats an eye. Just doesn’t make sense to me

The biggest choke I think was Mets beating the Redsox in 1986.

I’m not sure what year it was, 1980-81? Astros vs Phillies for NLCS. The Astro’s had Nolan Ryan on the mound going into the 9th with 3 run lead & lost it

2004 ALCS New York wins the first three games to lose in seven games against Boston This is clearly the greatest choke job in Major League Baseball history

1986 Red Sox had the Mets by the throat, were one strike away from being champions in 86 World Series and completely imploded with 2 outs nobody on in the 9th inning of game 6

As soon as I saw the title of this video I said "they must've included the Nats choke in 2012". I hit play and hear "It's October 12th, 2012, and the Washington Nationals…"
@SABRMatt20102 жыл бұрын
You'd probably be better served calling this video "The Biggest CHOKES of the 2010s." Baseball history is a lot longer than that...and there have been some EPIC chokes.

2003 Red Sox Manager Grady Little blows the game against The NY Yankees by leaving a very tired Pedro Martinez on the mound Yankees quickly comeback and win The Red Sox would finally pay back The NY Yankees the following yr in 2004 with a dramatic come back and would go on to win The World Series 86 yr after the last time they were in The World Series
