Additionally, never rule out the possibility that the person your going to the hotel with could secretly have serial killer ambitions. For me, I won't go anywhere private with someone I don't know until I've known them IRL for awhile, and met or spoken with mutual friends/acquaintances or been introduced to some of their peeps (i ask eound on my own also). This process is known as: "vetting", and it's a natural and healthy part of building friendships and relationships. That's just me though.

@@miunya funny story- back in the day when I had a effed up family, we were on a road trip, and got a hotel room. I woke up in the middle of the nite b/c my father was snoring so loudly. Exactly! The issue isn’t that a 50-something guy sang a duet with a teen. I sang duets with my vocal coach in high school and there was nothing inappropriate that went on because he treated me as a student and not a peer. The issue here is that he sought her out and instigated an inappropriate relationship with her. Had it been about the music, he would’ve sought out women closer to his own age to collaborate with. I bet there are plenty of 35+ women on TikTok who he could’ve worked with.

They all believe the guys, old guys, in dating podcasts how it’s what their preference is. 18-22 year olds and I’m like eww they’re over 28+ up to around 50 and love to say it’s normal for them to go for that age range of 18-22 year old girls. They love to use the “logic” bc that’s a girls prime 🙄 and child bearing years yeah whatever. They wouldn’t say 17 or under because it’s illegal but many say they like 18 year olds and it’s normal 🤮 same as girls like older men bc old men are in their prime. Ewww no. Maybe sometimes financially but NOT physically. Men get old and their bodies work out. No stamina. physical signs of aging. It’s not that you have an old soul, or are mature for your age, or it’s true love, or you’re so interesting they want to get to know you better, or whatever else they say. It triggers me so much. When I was 19 a teacher became obsessed with me. I never gave him any hope or special attention as a man. I told him I had no interest at all (respectfully on his face) and even liked another man, but he simply couldn't accept it. It was very hard for me because I liked him, our class and his teachings very much, I saw him as a kind of "father figure" and cared about his opinion and getting his approval. He used my trust and admiration agains me, chased me like crazy with manipulative behavior. When he saw he would never have me, this man tried to destroy me and my social life! It was a hell. I can't tell the details in here, but that was by far the most traumatizing event of my life. It changed me forever, I've never recovered completely of that experience. Years later he came to my house crying and asking for forgiveness, but I simply could not forgive him, I can't look at his face till nowadays, even in pics! Then he started to msg me on my birthday every year! Very disturbing behavior! I had to block him! Enfim... I hate this kind of predatory man.

@@TischTosh so they should also get rid of Facebook reels and Instagram. All the social media platforms, including this one have short form video options. I once had an older man as a substitute bus driver (maybe in his late 50s) when I was in elementary school. He was a substitute a few times and I noticed he always smiled at all the girls when he dropped them off at their houses. At first, I thought he was just being nice. Then one time I was one of the last to get off the bus and I asked him if he remembered where I lived so he wouldn't drive by my house - and he said, "I'd never forget where you live sweetheart." And then he smiled that same smile I once thought was him being kind and suddenly it looked scary to me. It was super creepy. I remember awkwardly standing there and really hoping he'd let me off that bus. When he did, I ran home.

Now the wisdom in being older than 19 is that when he started giving me a creepy/controlling vibe before our first date, I blocked him because F* That. This girl didn't need this. It's not her fault, she didn't have the wisdom. Ladies, it is never your fault if you don't know yet. I recommend simply if you are unsure what to do, get an older and wiser woman you trust to read the messages and discuss a safe exit strategy. You are still nice if you have strong boundaries. There was a situation that happened to me in early 2016. By no means was it the worst thing to happen to someone, but I just thought of it because you mentioned how these men start small and then try a little more each time. I worked at a Carmax dealership with a man who was 50 at the time; I was 30. So no comparison to this story in regards to age, as I was not in my teens and had been married for around five years at that point. However, this man was known to tell inappropriate jokes, talk openly about sexual topics with the team, and disrespect female managers. He even just looked like the typical creepy 50-year-old: White New Balance sneakers, balding, glasses. But aside from the looks, it was his demeanor and words I found unnerving. One day, I was at the front desk waiting for the next customer. He was nearby, talking openly on the sales floor about how he and his wife were planning on going to a strip club that night. I was doing this uneasy chuckle thing I do when someone’s being cringe. He walked up close to me and whispered in my ear, “I could see you being the stripper in that club.” Because I was at the front, I was just like, “Ok…ha ha.” 😬 I kept on with work and stuffed my emotions, but when I got home, I was in a terrible mood and had a bit of a meltdown at my husband over something minor. It was then that I realized what was bothering me, so I told my husband what happened. Of course, he insisted I tell my manager the next day. I actually wrestled with it and even asked a few coworkers (some told me to let it go), but I realized that this man was going on test drives alone with young women. It wasn’t just about protecting myself at that point. Later that morning, I met with my manager and told him about the comment. I was genuinely thinking they’d just give him a slap on the wrist. However, they actually fired him. 😳Management said that my situation was simply the last straw; they’d already seen and heard enough. The creep took to Facebook and text messaging, telling people I invited his comment and was just out to get him. (I wasn’t Facebook friends with him, but others were telling me, and we had mutual friends, so I could see comments he left on their posts.) I was the #1 salesperson in the store at that time, so of course, jealous women and even a guy or two latched onto the gossip and saw it as a way to ostracize and undermine me. One girl even went so far as to start other false rumors about me. There was another person who’d gotten fired, which I didn’t even know about right away. But she told him I was somehow behind it. 😢 There was a mature group of people who had my back. One woman in particular said the creep has approached her for nudes, but she didn’t report him because she didn’t want to go though what I was then undergoing. 🤦🏻‍♀️ In short, I was living in a big city at the time, so I just decided to go work for another dealership. The next place was great, though we moved to another city later that year. I’ve been out of the car business since 2018. The creep went on to become a truck driver. 🤣

It is contrary to our biological programming. Consider that before you stand in glass houses and throw stones. I was hit on and had more attention from old men circa 11 - 17. It was eeally weird and at the time, i didnt understand or interpret it in any way. Looking back, there were so many pedophiles cat calling me and trying to talk to me.

It's very sad that 99% of girls go trough that as teens. Me and two of my friends, around 16 yo at the time, where chased by creepy neighbor and his friends, who was in their forties. We were flattered at first by the attention, but then it started to get very uncomfortable and I left the friend group. These men are everywhere, just waiting for young and naive teens to pray on, disgusting!

You were so 100000% right to confront/tell on those abusers in the moment. I'm sure the victims were upset at the time but you're so correct about it being so much harder to prove later on. You're the hero we need, and Roger is a creep!

Ugh that boy ain't right! I too am a tattler! I was JUST graduated from high school (so 17) and my best friend's sister's husband hit on me when he dropped me at home. He told me not to tell after I said no thank you (I'm sure I looked uncomfortable he was like 7/8 years older than me and HAD 3 KIDS with my bestie's sister) and I said okay and IMMEDIATELY called my best friend and told her. We both laughed at why he thought I would have ANY fear or loyalties to not say anything then while on the phone we both told her sister. Afterwards my friend's sister didn't like me anymore, I guess she liked it better when the women didn't tell after turning him down. It came out that he cheated on her regularly and had a thing for younger girls

I feel bad for his wife living in that much denial and letting his creepy ways make her be envious of young girls. What a mess. Hope she leaves and hope you and your friends keep being powerful and strong! Never let these weirdos stop you from living your life!
