It is insane how Dwayne Johnson was obsessed with Black Adam fighting Superman instead of his actual arch-nemesis Shazama. Like if he truly cared about the character like he claims, then he would have been all for his character fighting Shazam. And speaking of that movie, the fact that the sequel didn't have Mr. Mind be the villain like it was teased at the ending makes no damn sense. Its even more infuriating since Furry of the Gods basically just use the same post credit scene all over again! Another major problem with WB is that they don't give characters seconded chances. For example Green Lantern was a flop and as a result we haven't gotten a Green Lantern movie or even a movie appearance in OVER A DECADE. Green lantern s CORE MEMBER of the Justice League not getting a showcase at all in the dceu. On the other hand when a movie/character succeeds they heavily overuse it. Just look at Harley Quinn she got her own movie plus two huge appearances in the Suicide squad movies. WB just sticks to things that succeed/overuse them while completely abandoning characters that don't perform as well.

The DC games aren't good either and there aren't many of them and the only justification for not putting more emphasis on it is that the DC movies failed miserably (and it's not certain either because I don't know to what extent because maybe there were still people who grew up on the DCAU or series And the other animated movies. Maybe the DCMAU was more successful than I think and so is the arrow universe and the justice league action series. Of course the teen titans go is still successful and popular. BvS' financial success should be solely credited to WBs marketing department. They had a huge opening weekend because of it but once word of mouth kicked in, the box office fell off a cliff. Over half the movie's domestic was made in the first three days.

Yep, a reboot was the way to go. They had chances to course correct, but never took em'. The DCEU was damaged goods. Even with better leadership, they couldn't have undone years of terrible storytelling.

The only issue is that it isn't a total reboot. It has a lot of holdovers from the dceu and is already a very established world. So it might not feel like a fresh start reboot.

It was so easy to make mine DC when I was a kid. Superman dominated the movies from the late 70s to the mid 80s, Batman from the late 80s to the mid 90s. But the MCU is just objectively better--even in 2024. And Marvel dominated even before that, with Blade and X-Men and Spider-Man.

The future Superman films should be filled with hope AAANNNDDD optimism... just like the Christopher Reeve Superman films. For example.....Reeve's Superman choked his evil twin to death in Superman 3. He killed Nuclear Man in Superman 4. He took Zod 's powers away, made him human, broke every bone in his hand, choked him, then threw him against the walls of the Fortress of Solitude as he sank down to the arctic. Superman 2 theatrical version didn't specify of Zod died but critics didn't complain anf cry about Superman killing back then. They should have cried like we do today. We need more hope like when Reeve's Superman gave up being a hero in his second film, took away his own powers, said "HAVEN'T I DONE ENOUGH"?, so he could sleep with Lois. I especially loved when he went to the diner at the end of Superman 2, and beat up a human truck driver when he got his powers back. He broke a pinball machine with that trucker's head🤣. I loved when Reeve's Superman peeked through Lois' blouse and said "it's pink" in reference to her underwear. Not awkward at all if you brought your child to see the film or watch it with them on TV at home. Nothing fills me with more hope & optimism than watching Superman smile at the camera as John Williams theme plays even though 7 minutes prior to that we watched Lois sinking into the Earth while being crushed within her car as her mouth filled with dirt during her horrific death scene. "Real DC fans" didn't even make 2006's Superman Returns go over 500 million whereas 2002's Spider-Man made 825 million. Where were "rEaL dC fAnS" For Superman Returns? 😂

One of the dumbest articles I’ve read on the flash movie before it was released that the head costume designer said that “Ezra miller performance is so good that you would forget about all there crimes” like that’s not how that works, all these celebrities saying this movie is good were definitely being paid off, I’ll believe if Martin Scorsese says and I’ll still won’t believe it.

I just feel bad for the actors who got screwed over by the studios, especially Leslie Grace as Batgirl, who didn’t even get to see the movie she and so many others had worked so hard on. And poor Henry Cavill, a comic book fan getting cast as Superman, having his version of Superman botched, dropped by WB leadership, being given false hope and dragged back for the Rock’s -ego trip-- I mean sorry, “passion project” only to have the movie predictably crash and burn and get dropped a second time. Not to mention the Witcher fiasco. Dude’s got it *rough.*

I can’t be the only person who clearly sees why the Batman and joker were so successful. Because they DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. People can watch the trailers for those movies and instantly feel interested in them because they feel more mature, visually they are filmed with WAYYY more care put in, they have atmosphere. The cinematography is actually good. Whether people realize it or not, they are tired of the green screen CGI-everything slop fest that superhero movies have become. So when they get something different, it sticks with them. Marvel has doubled down on green screen, and people really wonder why every movie feels the same. Why do you think Guardians of the Galaxy was so successful? It was one of the first superhero movies with a true comedic tone, it had James Gunn unique visual style, and the music choices in the movie were amazing. It seems like James Gunn is aware of how important identity is to the success of these movies so I am cautiously optimistic about his leadership.

Snyderverse was doomed from the start when they hired Snyder to make Man of Steel. It's not hard. Build up Batman for a couple of films. Build up Superman for a couple of films. Then World's Finest. After that just build up the other Justice League members. Then Justice League. It's really not hard, but WB ALWAYS figures out a way to screw things up.

You don't need to build stuff Up everyone knows these characters just jump in. The arkham games started with Batman taking Joker back to jail again then gets traped in the jail with him. We didn't need to see there first enoucuter we didn't even need to see there most recent encounter, Marvel retconed that Ironman was not the first hero Antman was one decades ago. You can start the first superman movie with Superman exissting in meteroplasis for a while and everyone thinks aliens exsisting is normal. You think that is confusing or hard to follow My little pony the movie just jumps into a magic world with no exposition and that is a film for four year olds

@daraghokane4236 I'm not saying make origin stories for Superman or Batman, but the other Justice League members definitely would need one since they're less well known. Batman and Superman should have movies that show why they matter, but still allow for their world's to be built up. They should have a starting point to introduce these versions of the characters to the audience. For example, for Batman a good starting point would be for him to already be established as Batman. And the main story is about Bruce Wayne adopting Dick Grayson, while investigating the death of the Graysons. It's a good story to start with because portrays Batman as a father figure. That's why Batman matters. Kids in real life learned from him. And it also opens the door for the rest of the Batfamily as well as the Teen Titans. I like your idea on Superman. It's the best way to start with Superman. I'd have Lex Luthor create villains from the shadows such as Metallo and Parasite, and maybe portray them as heroes. Then they get out of control and Superman has to stop them. Something simple.

I'm sure James Gunn will do a good job but Zaslav can still screw things up. Zaslav has been running WB into the ground. He's cut down on the debt but at the cost of almost everything else. The investors are not happy with Zaslav since WBD's stock price has tanked 70% since the merger with Discovery. Even with their debts down, they might have trouble getting funding. I wonder if they can even afford to make all the movies Gunn wants. They're going to have to make even more cuts and sell or license their properties. And considering how much they've damaged their brands, they're probably not going to get the best licensing deals.

The DCEU is definitely one of the most impressive failures I’ve ever seen, they had basically everything they needed to succeed, most of the actors casted were great and starting later could’ve allowed them to improve in things Marvel may have screwed up by that point or in the future (though at least Gunn can do that now when he’s starting even later and worked with Marvel so he can improve on the things he experienced there), but WB in their infinite stupidity somehow found a way to mess it up over and over again (I still don’t get how Walter Hamada and all those other morons with DC thought that removing Superman and turning Batman into a Nick Fury-type role while replacing both of them with Supergirl and Batgirl instead of having the two of them be a part of their supporting casts like they’re supposed to be could’ve possibly been a good idea)
