This giant McDonalds Apple Pie cake starts with 15lbs of my Ultimate Vanilla Cake mixed with a variety of spices giving it a rich flavor. The cake is topped with 10 cans of apple pie filling mixed with cinnamon then coated in a sheet of beige fondant painted over as if it had been freshly baked. Please someone answer my question, Question: how come liquid from apple pie filling melted/ate away at the fondant, but when you brush the paint on the fondant it doesn't affect it?

The liquid from the apples don't dry whereas the liquid from the gel/alcohol mix dries immediately when it's on a surface. If that made sense.

Apples are acidic and fondant id made of sugar mainly. So it will eat away the alcohol evaporates when it dries therefore technically its nit wet.

I believe it’s the because the paint uses alcohol, and the apples have water. The water is the culprit.
