I think what made me laugh the hardest about sainttaints claims is the timing of the Natlan teaser. Bro clearly did no research. Now I don't play GI anymore but anyone who's played it for a while knows that in may around the x.7 patch they tease the new region. They did it for Fontaine in the 3.7 livestream right before the summer events and the year before, so him ripping Cy up for his statement of "these things are planned months in advance" is baseless, because Cy is right. Hoyo has a schedule and they stick to it. This bozo was just reaching for any crumbs he could find 😂

This is actually nice!" and then maybe bring it up in a Team Meeting. THIS BRINGS CHANGE!! Bringing up FFXIV and WoW again but Yoshi-P (FFXIV Director) has said in interviews that some decisions in FFXIV's Gameplay WERE MADE DUE TO WoW! Same, some changes in WoW were actually kickstarted BECAUSE FFXIV DID IT BETTER! So yeah, we gotta stop the Drama and "HurrDurr Genshin Killer" Bullshit because the only thing WuWa can do is get some players away from Genshin BUT they can inspire Genshin to do better! It's up to miHoYo to look at WuWa and change Genshin to be better, so players will return! HoYo has it in THEIR hands if Genshin dies. Yes WuWa can kickstart the 'decline' of Genshin by just doing things better (if it even happens, the decline would be VERY slow) but only HoYo can truly kill it by sitting idle and not changing things to make Genshin compete. So the real Genshin-Killer would be if HoYo refuses to improve the game.

Genshin was never idle though. They don't have competition yet and there won't be any for at least a year. That's how long I expect WuWa to catch up and new competitors will start having betas. It's going to be tough to get inspiration from a game that copies everything you did. I struggle to see what new thing they could bring in from WuWa. (Mid-air melee combat?)

I can confirm, for me opening Genshin before WuWa actually fixed my issue. I was unable to log into WuWa without getting the error UE4 line 158 "HUNG", after opening Genshin the error never showed again. And no I don't have to open Genshin everytime, one time is all I needed to fix that error haha

15:00 It kinda depends Bran. I am a small CC with a "budget home studio". Most VA's do not have studio grade microphones in a small home soundbooth. There are some portable ones but they are kinda expensive and very cluncky to deal with. The microphones themselves are also not cheap at all (some will range from $5k to $10k+). And then we add cables and professional voice recorders and a small NAS for files and we are reaching about a $20k+ investment that is sometimes a pain in the ass to work with.

You know, I was initially SO disappointed that Wuthering Waves wouldn't have a console release at launch. I knew I would have to avoid most of the online content, no longer interact with the online community about it since I would have nothing to talk about and also would just be spoiled, and in general I wouldn't get to play another open world gacha, practically the only way I enjoy open world anymore. Man, that was the best thing. I'm just outside of the drama and looking at people devolve. It's fascinating. I know I would be way too emotionally invested if I played Wuthering Waves already, but now I can just sit back and enjoy the drama. What a world. Now whenever there is a console release, I can just play and enjoy the game without this drama in the future. I mean, it'll probably be there, but not nearly as fresh or the hot topic.

Fyi on the part on recording at home vs studio: during pandemic lockdown, the CN VAs for Genshin tried recording in their own homes. Some physically went into closet (lol), some under their blankets etc, but they always face issues. E.g. their microphones were not as good as studio mics, their homes were not as soundproof so the mics picked up on birds chirping. One of the VAs mentioned his pet cat meowed into the mic while he was trying to record. So yeah, studio recording is more controlled.

Here's my take While it is a bit rough around the edges in some areas, wuwa still gives us things that mihoyo refused to give us for years. I have stopped playing Genshin quite a while back after realizing that I'm investing time in a game that's never going to give me what I wanted since 1.0, which is a challenge for the characters that I build up. At some point I just started seeing the game as a visual novel with some action gameplay on the side and nothing more than that. Considering this and the fact that I didn't enjoy the GI story OFTEN enough. It just has some good moments, while majority of them are quite a snooze fest and at times even frustrating because of the bloated dialogues and characters (read: Paimon) repeating things to me that I've literally just witnessed. This all said, Wuwa is definitely rough in some spots, especially early story chapters, English VA (You can switch to Japanese though, which is 10/10 for me) and localization, but I think wuwa's 1.0 story ending is objectively more interesting than Genshin's 1.0 conclusion was, but not as good as HSR's probably, but it's there somewhere in between for me. Wuwa knocks it out of the park for me with relics being farmable in the overworld, so you're not tied so hard to energy for progressing as you are in Genshin and it also makes the overworld still very useful, even after 100% exploration. If you don't have the time, you burn the energy, do dailies and leave, but if you have 5 hours to play for the day, you can certainly do that and make progress with that time. On top of that, there's already content in wuwa 1.0 that is challenging enough to give my team building some meaning. And of course, I don't have to say it, but wuwa's combat and general mobility of characters is lightyears ahead of Genshin and just way more fun. Though I will admit that I miss elemental reactions from Genshin a bit. Not just that, wuwa's generally very low on any sort of established status effects, but it has other interesting things going for it - mainly with echo skills, built-in mini games in some character forte circuit skills, intros and outros. Really, all I want from it right now in terms of fixing things is maybe working on the first 4 chapters of the story more for the sake of new players that come and localization. Don't actually care about VA that much, as Japanese VA is 10/10 anyway, so I use that instead. At a first glance, I thought that wuwa lacked memorable areas in the game, but I kept forgetting that the game is set in a post-apocalyptic world (and falling into a trap of expecting cities with long standing cultures like Liyue - which wouldn't make sense in this setting actually, not to mention that it's a more futuristic world in general), so the environments actually made sense for what the game was going for, but I am still hoping they will find a way to show variation in cultures across different areas in the future updates. I get that it's much harder in this post-apocalyptic setting, but it's something I did enjoy in Genshin and hoping they improve in that aspect just a little bit. Would love to hear what everyone else likes//dislikes about WuWa, compared to Genshin and vice versa. C:

playing WuWa really makes Genshin Gameplay really easy and more casual. WuWa has so much more dynamics, with QTE/Intro/Outro, the Echo system which has a lot more potential than the artifact system combat wise, and the way to fight enemies is more catered to players who care about the combat system and really will care about the health of the game.

if WuWa stayed in the oven for 1 more month before launching it would have done so much better as a competitor; the closest thing genshin now has of upcoming challenger is azur promilia, who if the devs are seeing the writing on the wall will avoid staying in genshins shadow (aka be just a slightly more polished clone or to involve itself with the genshin killer crowd as FF did dring the wow killer phase) as much as possible if they want it to actually be successful in launch and long term

You act like Genshin had a flawless release. It was just as bad with bugs and crashes. Yet despite that Kuro actually gave compensation and worked on their mistakes. I'm still waiting for Hoyo to show me that they care. And like how Snowbreak is cooking months after their release, Wuwa will do the same. It takes 6-12 months to truly see if a game is successful.

Seamless implies that there's no barrier of Entry (So no minimum Level to unlock it) and that Co-Op Play has NO limitations or very few. In a Seamless Cooperative Play Setting, i should get to interact with the Game World as if i was the Host. The very reason the Elden Ring Co-Op Mod is called "Seamless Co-Op" is because the Mod establishes a Connection through Steam's API and makes it so both Clients are considered the Host. Given that Mod Syncs the Game-World of the Host onto the connecting player in some ways, but Loot is not synced, thus giving every player the ability to pick up things in the World.

I think the main problem with English VAs doing American accents tends to lie in the cadence. All accents have different cadences and its partly why most cant do a proper accent even if they can mimic the accent well. The best example of this is Benedict Cumberbatch doing an American accent in dr strange. It sounded really off to Americans. I feel like the lack of direction and having the cadence be so bland is what's throwing people off. This same logic goes for Americans doing English accents as well. Just my thoughts on the va issue.
