The biggest on course driver mistake I see. Having been a golf profession for over 36 years and having played and coached thousands of amateur golfers during that time. In this video golf tip, Brian Fitzgerald the golf doctor shows you the biggest on course driver mistake I see average golfers make. There are many mistakes I see average golfers make but this is by far the most common and it can be easily fixed.

My name is Brian Fitzgerald - I'm an Australian full time golf coach living in Melbourne and coaching at two venues. The Morack Public GC in Vermont South and the Lang Lang GC in beautiful South Gippsland (An hour and a quarter from Melbourne) where there are lot's of Kangaroos.
FAQ:
How long have you been a golf coach? I qualified as a full member of the Australian PGA back in 1985. Wow I don't feel that old.
Why do you make videos for KZbin? That is a great question and one I get asked a lot. I love helping people play better golf and people tell me I have a very unique coaching style that is very simple to understand. We really should do things simpler. I just make them to help people and if people like my videos they can either come for a golf lesson in person or if that is not possible you could join my membership program and I can then view your golf swing or any part of your game and really help improve what you do.
Do you always change some ones golf swing? To be perfectly honest I try not to. If I do try to change some ones golf swing I have to have a pretty good reason for doing so and the client has to be fully engaged and committed to both regular coaching and practice in order to make that change. Most people say they will do both with good intentions but most fall away pretty quickly.
So my preference is to change things that will improve their score easily. There are so many different ways to do this.
What do you film with? - I have a few few different cameras I use. An old GoPro Hero 4, an iPhone 6 and iPhone X, A Sony ZV1 and an old Panasonic Handy cam (I'm using that less and less now). I record my sound on an old iPhone 4.
What do you edit with? - About a year ago I switched to Adobe Premiere - prior to that it was Pinnacle Studio
Do you make money off KZbin? - Yes.It took me over 100 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense and then another 50 videos to make my next $100. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - Here's my ko-fi where you can buy me a coffee, beer or a burger should you wish (kind of like giving me a tip via : ko-fi.com/thegolfdoctor
Thanks for watching!
Brian

Not sure how many viewers picked it up from the behind view, but the 10th tee also points golfers down right so very easier to slice, and why your tip for correct alignment is even more important. I must admit i got it wrong, at start I thought the fault was hitting from centre of tee ground and not moving over to right hand edge, like we practised on 18th, and hit a power fade, the strategy which I admit has improved my number of times in fwy off tee. Given we dont have stakes to hit through maybe golfers could focus on the two white divots in front of ball on your start line or the two green shrubs. Thank you for a great series, really enjoy them.

Thanks Geoff. Golf course architects often do this in their Del signs to trick golfers. I am glad the new strategy is working for you. The course is certainly the star of these videos. It’s looking great. You are right about picking targets on the ground. I should have mentioned that in the video. But hey I can always do an updated version down the track. I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. Thanks for watching. Brian

WHAT A LITTLE BIG GEM. Will definitely keep in mind when driver is in the slicing mode. What about the reverse of that when in the hooking mode? Brian keep up the great work.

Great video. What I do is find the line of the drive with an intermediate target a couple of feet in front. Line up the club face and I Do Not place the face of the driver immediately behind the ball, but in front of my sternum. I then know I'm square to the target. Then it's up to the swing.....sometimes it works well...

Good stuff Peter. There are so many different ways to do it but the main thing is to keep your club face square to the start line and not the target which you are doing consistently so that gives you a chance. Great hearing from you. I hope you are getting in a bit of golf and you are well. Thanks for watching. Brian

Great illustration!! I am sure the opposite will equate to a draw. Club face aimed left with legs and shoulders pointing right.

Yes, exactly Matt. Startline is important on every shot we play in golf and 2 alignment sticks are a great way of dialing it in. I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching. Brian.

Got me just before shut eye time Brian .Forever helping golf bud with alignment,as another ball goes walkabout in the trees .Such a simple aspect but difficult it seems to apply. Stay safe and thanks.

Thanks Brian. I have that problem, however, my fix was not to continue with my normal alignment (left foot slightly open) by squaring up my clubface (not open), left foot and left shoulder. You could also pull your right foot slightly back to encourage a draw offset. I hope you find this comment useful. Cheers.

Love your videos. Always short and concise and just gets to the point. Find some videos go 5-7 minutes in before they even get the advise.

Thanks Paul I appreciate the feedback. I’m curious now. What did you think of last weeks 17 minute video I put out? It’s not something I do very often but every now and again. I would love your feed back on that one if you get a chance. Thanks for watching. Brian.

I didnt watch the full video if I'm honest. Not so much because of length but because I am putting very well just now and don't want to disrupt that by seeing anything good or bad 🤣. I'll return to that when my putting goes soar maybe 😀😀

Thanks for replying Peter and that is a really good answer. If it ain't broke...... Trying to understand the KZbin algorithm is a difficult task. KZbin wants longer videos to keep people on the platform longer so they can make more money. Consumers want shorter videos getting to the point and solving an issue as quickly as possible. Us creators are the meat in the sandwich trying to please both. I am always experimenting but at the heart of it all I am trying to add value. I really appreciate your feedback. Brian
