The character development is amazing and it’s so well planned out in a way that most anime shows are not. It starts and the beginning and wraps up well at the end. So dang good.

And definitely don’t skip any alleged “filler” episodes because that includes stuff like The Tales of Ba Sing Se which technically doesn’t advance the plot but which is one of the best episodes of the entire series. I’d also say that like Final Fantasy it’s an IP that doesn’t completely jar with the MTG setting - I suspect that the cards will look right at home amongst planes like Tarkir, Kaladesh/Avishkar and Kamigawa (both old and new if they have Korra in the set).

I watched ATLA as it came out when I was growing up, and have rewatched it several times as to me it's one of the greatest shows of all time. I finally convinced my partner to watch it last year, and she confirmed every suspicion that I had that the merit is not just nostalgia. It is sincerely one of those shows that will make you extremely sad that it's over, with that looming feeling it'll be a while before something hits the same.

For people around my age, mid-twenties, Avatar is going to be huge. It’s actually the only UB I’ve ever been genuinely excited for - and almost makes me forgive wotc for pushing back the Lorwyn set. I think the lore and setting will fit in nicely with Magic’s canon and I’m super curious how they’re going to make the 4 elements/nations fit into the color pie. I’ve always said that as soon as they release a UB set that actually appeals to me, I’d rethink my stance on UB, but I never thought they would actually do it. Also, like some other comments have mentioned, AtLA is worth the watch as an adult. I’ve never been disappointed rewatching it as an adult and I know lots of people who didn’t watch it as a kid who enjoyed it in their 20-30s.

On sheltered by ghosts: All of the changes to boosters have exacerbated problems when an uncommon gets high demand. Fewer packs being opened because of price. That was my deck! It's a self-mill deck that focuses around cards like Souls of the Lost, Cruel Somnophage and Hollow Marauder. KZbin won't let me post a link, but the decklist is available on Melee and on MTGGoldfish if you search for the username "fetnuji." The second version (with the apostrophes) has a very slightly modified sideboard and instructions for playing the thing. I've been working on it since MKM came out and I'm very proud of it. as a huge pioneer advocate the main reason I don't play often is because I can't find anywhere to jam events regularly, especially competitively. I love the format and will play all day in explorer but I've got nowhere to play in paper. I'll also look forward to new standard sets to look for new cards to play in pioneer, so I consider standard sets as the way wizards makes money from pioneer, but that's almost indistinguishable from people buying standard cards, so it's possible a lot of the money they can make from pioneer is hard to see because of it's crossover with standard.

The Last Airbender is a really good show. It has one of the most believable redemtion arcs, and real character conflicts with saticefying resolutions.
