The fact that they chose a video of someone breaking the rules of musical chairs and violently taking the chair away as "Working Smart" tells you everything you need to know about the billionaire mindset.

"Money isn't everything" and "money can't buy happiness," are phrases that were intended to shame rich people for prioritizing hoarding more money than they will ever need, not to shame poor people who are trying to decide if they want to pay their electricity or their internet this month
@aprilmichel7816
@aprilmichel7816 2 жыл бұрын
Whenever someone tries the "money can't buy happiness" bull, I like to respond "it doesn't, but it sure is easier looking for happiness when you don't have to make a choice between eating or paying rent". I don't think anyone can make a comeback to this.
@enotsnavdier6867

@@aprilmichel7816 "Money doesn't buy happiness" is imo one of the best sentiments to disincentivize people from becoming like the "sigma trillionaire grindset" type of people. It's valuable in that if you convince people when they're young that money doesn't lead to fulfillment, then they are less likely to exploit others, or to compromise morals and integrity to get it. Though since society glorifies wealth and the vapid luxuries it offers so much, it makes that idea significantly harder to convince people of.
@giaparmer
@giaparmer 2 жыл бұрын
and I just have to say… If you never work on yourself while you’re getting money of course you’re not gonna be happy when you have money. But it’s pretty self-centered to look at a otherwise well balanced person who just doesn’t have a lot of money to try to tell them that if they get it they won’t be happy because you have it and you’re not happy. How about use alllll that money and go to therapy and get a damn sense of purpose… it gives ungrateful sometimes.

He thinks he's a billionaire because he's a genius, but the reality of it is that literally every billionaire is a billionaire almost entirely by luck. There's a little bit of skill/knowledge involved, but it's mostly luck. Maybe there's been a billionaire genius, but I'd wager it that's no more common than non-billionaire geniuses.

His point is that it’s only losing value, so saving money isn’t enough to make money at the rate that he does. I think he’s implying that you should use your money to grow your wealth instead of saving something that is losing value. You will get more value out of your money the faster you spend it, and if you can make a profit you will grow your wealth way faster than if you had saved it instead.

Joker is literally about how the poor are mistreated, using him as a symbol for billionaire mindset is the ultimate death of the author

I was with you until you conflated this shit with death of the author, I think it's just people being brainwashed by capitalism into thinking "stuff I happen to think is cool/badass = billionaire" (also I would never allow that Roland Barthes slander).

@samanthagiraffe3088 2 жыл бұрын
@@sholem_bond maybe i'm misunderstanding the phrase death of the author then? i thought it was when an interpretation abandoned authorial intent, so from what i am aware the authorial intent of joker was to show how the poor are mistreated, so using him as a symbol for the trillionaire grindset is an abandoning of the authorial intent of the character, but i might have just been using the phrase wrong for a long time 😂 it happens
@yeah493
@yeah493 2 жыл бұрын
@@samanthagiraffe3088 you're using it right in general, but you're also comparing the billionaire interpretation to the supposed "intent", and assuming or trying to discern authorial intent is sort of counter to death of the author, so it sounds a little contradictory, but I get what you mean. But also even if you agree with death of the author their interpretation can still be terrible 😂

@@yeah493 yeah i was kind of vouching for authorial intent on this one because im not 100% either way on whether or not authorial intent is the 'correct' interpretation but it is often how a work is designed and made so it is often the interpretation that is the most justifiable, but to me thats not because we should always take the authors word as law, but sort of just how the chips fall, if that makes sense. the interviewer from the first video "why save money when they're printing money " is George Buhnici, a romanian tech reviewer. he used to do great stuff but lately he's been chasing money from sketchy sponsorships and doing a lot of podcasts

Thank you so much for being sane!!! Also, you noticed the misogyny in those comments, "Karen's will say it's bad", like only women find it weird he kisses somebody without their prior consent. Then that one where they say that they always stop the music with the girl when they were literally walking so slowly like whaaatt??! The things with "you understand the villain as an adult" is so freaky cause no, you don't. You're just like "Wow, he's really messed up." You can with the experience you've accumulates conclude that you've met terrible people and you wished for bad things to happen to them and that's why you can relate to the villain, but that's not a sane way to think about this, just cause you got hurt doesn't mean it enables you to hurt others as well.

8:57 this clip is from breaking bad and it’s so funny to me that they used it bc the money he bought the house with literally came from making drugs 😭 and he wasn’t even close to a billionaire, he had like close to 500k and he spent 90% of it to buy the house sjsj

idk the full context of the tennis video but it’s crazy how the whole “Karen” thing went from a way for poc to talk about racist white women to a misogynistic stereotype. like you’re now considered “a karen” for being concerned about a child being uncomfortable.

Can we talk about how the man talking about setting routines acts like it's the easiest thing to do when neurodivergent people may be physically unable to do so or struggle a lot to set those routines and adhere to them- and that's ignoring what he was saying about being unable to be mentally healthy without a routine when anyone who has a mental illness/condition affecting their motivation has heard that thousands of times 💀💀 man really thinks what he said is profound AND like he thinks there's a routine switch you just need to turn on-

13:33 Honestly my take there is more about the absolutely massive scale difference of millionaire to billionaire and how the existence of billionaires is just plain crazy. Millionaire you have literally every expense covered forever, basically all the entertainment and luxuries you could want as well with those luxury yachts, and then billionaires have full-on fucking cruise ships to just fuck around with.

The dude That was like why save money when they’re printing money obv refers to shit along the lines of “corporations get most of the stimulus package money cause it’s spent at their markets, be in that circle and you don’t have to worry abt money cause the market will keep refilling” Which of course it absolutely will not theres probs gonna be some fucking problems soon lmfao
