About this game:
When Isaac’s mother starts hearing the voice of God demanding a sacrifice be made to prove her faith, Isaac escapes into the basement facing droves of deranged enemies, lost brothers and sisters, his fears, and eventually his mother.
Gameplay
The Binding of Isaac is a randomly generated action RPG shooter with heavy Rogue-like elements. Following Isaac on his journey players will find bizarre treasures that change Isaac’s form giving him super human abilities and enabling him to fight off droves of mysterious creatures, discover secrets and fight his way to safety.

Well, this is it. Egg never got any farther with his Isaac episodes. Wrath of the Lamp cut off after 980. Rebirth stopped after 821. Afterbirth added a + after 591. Antibirth isn't even worth mentioning. So, only 20 episodes until the ultimate career suicide. Let's do it!

We love to criticize NL for his way of going about things, but he played exceptional on a cursed run. Mad props, eggy boi. (And I think we all thought he was gonna die on that turret room in Sheol lmao)

daan matthé balls of steel directly adds hearts to your health bar. Hierophant drops hearts on the ground- which can’t happen on Ultra Hard

So other than "play perfectly, get the best possible boss drops and Angel rooms", how does he win? I think it's got to be some road through a health-generating spacebar item. > Satanic Bible > Book of Revelations > Yum Heart (silly Egg, leaving this behind) > Blank Card + Sun (Lovers or Heirophant won't work), Blank Card + Dagaz > Placebo + Full Health, or Placebo + Balls of Steel Then he would ideally build something up around it. He might also be lucky enough to get one of the books out of a library some time. A lot of the Shop pool could also help him: > Habit to provide more charge when he does get hit > 9-volt to make these items come back faster > Car Battery to double effects > Champion Belt for a damage up while he's buying out the pool > The Battery to let him hold a second charge of something > Blank Card & Placebo are in the shop pool > Cards or pills are also in the shop Then ideally he can get some damage and tears from somewhere, and play well enough to keep it together. If he goes for a "typical" win of buying damage on DWTD other damage ups I don't think the margin of error is there for him; he basically has to play perfectly. A lot of the favorite avenues to HP through the devil pool just don't work - Athame and Maw of The Void can't produce Black Hearts in Ultra Hard. I don't think the Guppy plays are there either unless he's luckier than the usual egg; he can't afford to try Curse rooms and likely can't see even if there is a Guppy item in the pool.

The first time he beat this challenge, he used ???'s Only friend to deal a consistent source of damage while he hid in the corner. I've heard some people in the comments suggest other crazy stuff, like the "Pyromaniac+Kamakazi" combo and the infamous "Isaac's Heart+Razor Blade or Blood Rights" combo.

The hierophant card last run wouldn't have been useful, as it drops the spirit hearts on the ground. Also, talks about heart regeneration, doesn't remember how he didn't take yum heart last run.

This run of Ultra Hard challenges by Northernlion is the first thing that's ever truly tempted me to buy this game. (I missed any Ultra Hard attempts from his previous save files.) Unlike most of the rest of the game, it looks like it might be genuinely challenging to even a skilled player, and unlike most of the other challenges, it appears to retain almost the full variety of the main game mode. I want to try it. BUT I don't think I want to spend many hours unlocking a thousand other things in order to get to it and instill an interesting item composition into it.

Can we go back to sick brain NL, where Egg Daddy was able to dodge enemies? This video actually made me angry and start yelling at the screen, because there were a number of times where Ryan either trapped himself in a corner and got hit when he could have simple mad a fairly easy dodge past an enemy, or just stood still and got hit. Ugh...

His lizard brain even made him think that for SOME reason taking Teleport over Doctor's Remote (which would have been basically a free or at least easy room ever 2 rooms, and would have SMOKED bosses) was a good idea...
