Regarding what Sal said in 1:30:11, DC actually tried to tie a proto Earth-One universe with their main universe in one of the "52" tie ins. I cant remember which issue it was but I vaguely remember there being like scientist characters who travelled from the Prime Post-Crisis DC Universe to another universe (which turned out to be what WAS supposed to be the Earth-One universe) filled with statues and stuff of a very differently designed Earth-One Trinity. And then everything was thrown out of the window when JMS did Superman: Earth One, then DC did New 52 and Earth-One's release schedule became inconsistent and no one bothered with it anymore. It's a shame, I liked Superman and Green Lantern's Earth-One books.

I'll post the same comment i didn n another video: Taking a page from Geoff Johns Thesis, we know that, while the Justice Society represents the fundation of the whole DC Universe, the Legion is the promise that everything will be alright, regardless of what may happen, all will be well at the end as long as that future exists, and the Legion exists. Darkseid's Legion says that the Absolute Universe is doomed, Darkseid is the future there, and if nothing changes Absolute Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman will ultimately fail in their struggle for Justice (same as evil ultimately fails in main DC).

An interesting comparison that I don't see many people talking about is how DC's Absolute Power leading into the All In initiative and the introductions of the Absolute Universe is a sort of inverse to Marvel's Avenger's by Hickman into Secret Wars which lead to the elimination of the Ultimate Universe Hickman's Avengers starts with the team expanding, leading to the major event of Secret Wars, ultimately ending the Ultimate Universe. Marvel's Ultimate Universe didn't start as connected to the main 616 or spin out of an event at the start but it ended with one connected to the main universe. Meanwhile DC's Absolute Power event results in the Justice League returning and deciding to expand, while the new Absolute Universe is created out of it and is tethered to the main one from the start.

To the comics credit, the Legion is foreshadowed and makes sense. Outside of referencing the legion ring they also reference the Great Darkness Saga which might be the first time we see Darkseid defeated? Either way it is a connection between the two forces since the 70s or so. Him perverting the Legion works as almost revenge for me.

I thought the discussion about the implications of Darksied wanting to create things was pretty interesting. I had a discussion with the owner of one of my comic shops and he said that the Absolute universe could be DC getting ahead of the public domain catching up to their characters by making them edgy, but also doing it in a creative way. I like the idea that we’re comparing the kind of people that would make “Whinne the Pooh: Blood and Honey” to Darksied and his Absolute universe (not in terms of quality I’m sure). Not sure if that makes complete sense.
