The Birthplace of KFC Corbin, Kentucky:
Comment on what was the year that you first ever ate Kentucky Fried Chicken:
This is the story of how a farm boy became the Colonel and how a gas-station greasy spoon blossomed into Kentucky Fried Chicken. Originally established in 1930’s as a gas station along U.S. Route 25, it expanded into a motel and café where the Colonel offered guests a hot meal and a place to rest along their journey.

KFC used to be the absolute best fried chicken and sides you could eat from the local chain restaurants. But not anymore. I’m not sure when it declined but it was probably after the Colonel passed away. Interesting video!

It's still fairly good, but there is a difference. Noticed that at Wendy's also after Dave Thomas passed away. Mr. Sanders used to work at a restaurant in Bristol, VA on Lee Highway.

I was a young little one . But back in the day my uncle would take me over to Bob Evens house. They was friends. You had to eat. Bob’s wife was so nice. But anyway . I got to see the Colonel. They we’re friends to . Wish I would of been just a little older. I also drove my first tractor down on the farm . So cool seeing this kind of stuff. Thanks for the good videos

Oddly, the worst KFC I ever had was in Kentucky, just over the river from Cincinnati in July of 1986. We made a point of stopping at a Kentucky location thinking it would be more authentic . Probably one of the places Col. Harlan would have blown his stack over when visiting. I swear they were rounding up neighborhood crows.

I grew up listening to a renowned radio announcer named Paul Harvey. One of my favorite programs of his was short stories called "The Rest Of The Story". Not too long ago I came across an archive channel of that program and just the other day I listened to his segment on Mr Harland Sanders. After watching this video I thought you might enjoy listening to it yourself. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpu3dmRmg92Nd6s

I only ate at KFC a few times many years ago (I don't eat much fast food). But I live in the suburbs outside NYC and multiple KFC restaurants shut down for good (this was before Covid-19 Pandemic), so it was just declining sales. Whereas Chick Fillet Restaurant opened a few years ago in my area, the place is crushing it (even with forced to close on Sundays), they had to install a second drive through lane, and they have employees that will also come out to take orders/deliver food at your vehicle (I think most people just prefer drive through, especially when it gets really cold, or really hot outside temperatures. I don't get it, you would think KFC could adapt and compete against Chick Fillet.

IN the Los Angeles Culver City area, just north of LAX on Sepulveda we have DINAHs, might be a rip off of KFC, they're known for their chicken, I believe it's pressure cooked, they also make excellent cream spinach, I think KFC used to be run by Collins Foods International, but they Diversified probably they also closed all of the Sizzler franchises, and the company stores... nothing like stocking up on swag

Warm and fuzzy ……however little known fact KFC all of franchises I believe ….were purchased and owned by very wealthy cocaine smuggler brothers . 1980s don arnow of cigarette boat building fame built the brothers go fast smuggling race boats . When the brothers were arrested and many assets seized. One being KFC. The USA govt owned kfc for some while . Then they auctioned or sold it .that’s why late 80s til mid 1990s KFC was horrible . Total dive for those years .nobody even cared .during those days it was almost complete gone and defunct .even to this day I’ve occasionally been in stores that barely function ? May be something franchise related . On occasion they haven’t had chicken ? I thought it was a joke …lmfao
