Yet, we still operate as if such knowledge is certain, which is why people still board planes, have complicated surgeries. We make inferences. The Catholic church relies on many areas of knowledge also. As the Church is not just reason but faith as in trust, we arrive at certitude. Everytime you get in an airplane you assume you will arrive at your destination, despite the fact that such engineering is grounded in uncertainty, you trust the science to be right leading to a form of certitude.

You can go on about "engineering in uncertainty". Most airplanes stay in the sky for the duration of their flight though. That makes them and the engineering behind them RELIABLE. When has God or faith ever transported anyone across a continent?

Emails are much more likely to be cast aside. I vote we all write letters. Keep it short, simple sentences. About 3 lines. Very clear language that is easily read. Specific question and request for response. 1. Please list what Father Sheehan did wrong 2. Is the main mission of the church saving souls? 3. Why then is it unchristian if a priests tries to preach against sin? I need to tidy that up a bit but I’m leaning towards that sort of content. Word it better. But maybe I need it to be more respectful but with genuine concern and firmness?

I am totally frustrated as a Catholic, recently in Scotland there was a stage 1 Bill passed on the Transgender Reform lowering the age to 16, I watched in dismay as a Catholic MSP quoted Fr James Martins book “Building Bridges” to promote this Bill. I urge Pope Francis to acknowledge our concerns.

Robert I contacted the Bishop of Cork and Ross office this morning I wanted to speak to Bishop Finton on his opinion on the sermon and his reaction to the Kerry Bishops response, needless to say the bold Bishop Finton was unavailable AGAIN ,so I asked his secretary what was Diocesan response to the shambles, I really wasn’t sure if they agreed with the priest or the Bishop, he told me the Bishops of Ireland agreed with the Bishop of Kerry needless to say I pointed out to him that the Priests sermon was in line with the Catholic Catichism . @@josepholeary3286 No Joseph, I don't pass judgement because that's not love but I know sin is to keep us from heaven it wouldn't be loving therefore to not preach the truth of the gospel, why do people go mass? To adore Christ , why do they take communion to be in Union with Christ and the commandments. I don't want my children and grandchildren lied to. I have had to stop a lot of my own behaviour that leads to death of the soul and earthly life things of me which the gospels don't permit I have a choice so had everyone but if I go to a hairdresser I go for haircut not to drink wine because I want to feel good ...I go to a restraunt to eat and be filled I go to mass to be filled with truth of the gospel and homilies must stress that....peace be with you.

My heart goes out to this brave priest.. He WILL be cancelled like so many in the last several years.. I would suggest he reach out to Coalition of Cancelled Priests in the US.. He will need their support, no doubt. The Bishops are truly piling on heavily the millstones about their own necks..They are sinking themselves towards the pit of hell for scattering their flock...God have mercy on them.

I’m in total shock. I knew things were bad in Ireland, but this is a new, deep low. Is a bishops conference subject to a code of silence? If not, every bishop who doesn’t speak up in defence of this valiant Kerry priest is an de facto apostate! Can you give out the name and address of this Priest so that those of us who wish to can write letters of support and let him know he’s not alone? The bishop will be getting a letter from me too, but not one he’ll relish! It just goes to show, however, what heavy crosses loyal Priestly followers of Christ have to carry these day May God bless them and give them strength. Amen, Brother! The world twists the truth. That Bishop is of the world. We are all suffering. It’s not just Ireland. Some of our best priests were from Ireland when I was growing up - y’all had too many and they had to export them! Anyway, If Fr. Sheehy needs a place to stay he can come here and be with us. We will make room for him. BTW we have a very nice FSSP parish 20 minute drive away where he will feel right at home - they preach the same as he. God bless you. You are in my prayers.
