Idea to fluff out the five realms further: each planes is msot dominated by the two colors enemt to the missing color (ex: for Luminesca, this would be White and Green, the enemies of the missing Black), while the missing color's allies (ex: Red and Blue) are a source of conflict that destabilize the plane to being enemies with each other with their clashing no longer mediated by the missing color, which tries to worm itself in. (ex: the Red and Blue Keepers of Luminesca cannot stand each other and frequently at cross-purposes, threatening the unity of society as a very Black feeling of advancing their faction's goals over the other grasp at them). This would emphasize that no matter how beneficial the lack of a color may me, it doesn't change that the balance of the five colors exists for a reasons, and the five 4-color planes have fundamentaly something *missing*.

I’m working on turning this into a custom mtg draft/cube set and these additional videos with more in depth worldbuilding are huge. The overarching story I’ve got for the set, which I’m calling Planar Convergence, is that each of these five planes sat within the blind eternities in a very delicate and unstable fashion caused by the incomplete mana of the planes themselves. After Realmbreaker forced its way through the blind eternities and the filigree sylex was detonated there, these planes were destabilized and began drifting through the void drawn towards each other as if they actively sought to complete themselves by finding another external source of mana. Some of the inhabitants of these planes were able to detect this change and impending convergence and had varying degrees of preparation for this event. For example, Arecelis and Aethex-prime did not prepare themselves, while Mythoria’s preparations were slowed by the inherent bureaucracy of their society, while Dracorium amassed their forces and Luminesca devised defenses. As the planes neared the convergence, the fractures in the blind eternity opened omenpaths between the planes, inciting battles between worlds. Some of the mechanics that I am using for the set as a whole include new battles and Planechase draft mechanics which could be pretty interesting in a 1v1 draft/cube setting or even maybe draft a multiplayer free for all…

I wonder what events would cause the missing colors to return to their respective planes? One idea I've entertained is an artificial plane is siphoning the mana from the five planes. What would happen when those missing colors would return to planes. One example I see in Aethex-Prime, a Green planeswalker arrives and is nearly dead. The Black Stone Kin find him and take him to Mother. Instead of a Black Stonekin arising from Mother, the first Green Stonekin emerges.
@Blu_Moon_Owl7 ай бұрын
I guess it was intentional when writing out the world, but it’s ironic that even though these worlds are missing a color, the representation of what the color is persists in them still. Like Aethex-prime has no Green mana, but life still goes on and adapts to the environment Mythoria has no red but the essence of chaos and passion reside in the GW faction to fight for a better society Luminesca has no black, but can be view as basically a cult where if you step out of line will receive death or other punishment. Aracelis is no blue, but factions have their own beliefs and knowledge of the world they live in to make their own place in it Dracorium has FACTIONS! If there was no white then it would be pure anarchy, but factions mean people can and do work together to survive It’s probably surface level analysis but it could make sense

we probably need some new characters apart of each planes along with some interesting stories. here's some ideas Dracorium: The War Leader - a single solider who's body is covered head to toe in armor of a long forgotten age. no markings or aspects to tell where this solider originated from. he doesn't speak. he only moves. he travels across the plane with no clear purpose. however, whenever those try and stop him, they're easily defeated by his sword. many follow the lone solider, believing him to be a prophet or a leader they can follow. the soldier lets them travel along if they do not disturb his path. Aracelis: Raoul La Cerne - Raoul is a vampiric cleric. vampires are ancient beings with a connection to spiritual magic. vampires and dhampirs have an innate connection to the spirits of the world and are seen as advisors to many when dealing with spirits. clerics learn not through study, but through direct contact with the spirits through rituals. Raoul is a foolish man in love. in his youth, he interacted with a spirit he had never heard of before. he didn't know how to describe the feeling, but he yearned for more. at the site of the ritual where he met that spirit, he helped build one of the greatest cities on the plane. he now acts as a figure head within the city where he helps set up and perform all sorts of rituals. however, all of them are meant for the spirit he wants to meet again. he is disturbing the spirits. in a world where all is still, how much longer will the patience of the spirits remain for this fool? Luminesca: Lewit - Lewit is the pure saint. she was born into poverty as a child. on the brink of starvation, her parents stole a loaf of bread to feed their dying child. once Lewit had enough strength to move, she killed her parents for breaking the law and turned herself into the keepers of order. she has no remorse for her actions. she only did what was necessary to keep the order of this plane. due to her courage and honor, she was accepted into the order where she spent her years memorizing all laws and keeping order. she was given the title of saint and the duty to remove disorder from inside. she is to investigate and neutralize those within the keepers of the order and remove those who stray from the light. Mythoria: Isabella & Rosemarry Snowsteel: the Snowsteel family wrote a deal where their child was to be accepted to marry a wealthy investor within the futurist guild. however, the family unexpectedly had twins. the wording of the deal made it so only one child was necessary. this deal took generations to unfold and the 2nd child was a hinderance. Isabella become the beloved daughter of the Snowsteel while Rosemarry was left for dead. both grew very different lives. Isabella, the puppet used by her parents without a thought in her head. Rosemarry, a sneaky rat who used her intellect to survive and becoming a lawyer. when the sudden death of Isabella's fiance puts a halt to decades of plans, Isabella hires Rosemarry as her lawyer to settle the coming disputes. [input story here] aethex prime - rock

I have to disagree. He's a white mana god. He's so white mana, he purged the black mana from the world in ancient times. Once black was gone, he turned on the other enemy of white. Red. He took the red mana faction and warped it into his weapon of compliance. By cutting out "negative" emotions in a lobotomy well, he ensures the passions of red mana will never rise up. If anything, the fact that red mana priests are used to spot emotion in others like the child watchdogs from the movie Equilibrium proves that red mana has almost completely been subverted. The keeper of order and their god may be very close to cutting red mana out of that world entirely.

You know, I do wonder if the Stonekin should really be Artifact Creatures? I mean they aren't artificially made, they've come & evolved from the elements of their plane same as any other lifeform. Sure they're made of rock-like materials, but they aren't animated rock piles in the shape of a human the way a Golem is; they simply have rock-like skin that protects rock-like organs with blood like liqud rocks or metals. They aren't imitations of life, but just a unique form of it.

@GiftOfKnowledge-np9vg7 ай бұрын
@@wickederebus That could work, but I don't oppose the idea of making Stonekin a new creature type. I mean the idea of them is a bit separated from that of regular Elementals, isn't it? Those are typically, as the mtg wiki puts it: "a sentient being composed of elemental energy"; whereas Stonekin seem more naturally organic than that as I'm understanding. Mostly regular lifeforms whose biology happens to resemble solid & liquid rock; which is as 'regular' as life gets on Aethex-Prime.

It's interesting how when I first heard of Luminesca, it sounded like a paradise. A community of people all working together to create a happy and healthy home? Who wouldn't want that? But what always got me was the idea of "The Old Father", some unknowable being just never sat right with me, and now I know why. Even without Black, there is still darkness within humanity, and even worse is the darkness that disguises itself as light. Out of any color, I think someone of Blue or Red mana might be the one to center a story around, as they have the curiosity and emotion needed to look past the order for what could possibly be heresy
@StragetyMTG7 ай бұрын
IIRC the lore of the colors of mana specifically state that each color of mana exists on every plane. The shards of Alara lore got around this by making all of the different Shards in canon the fractured pieces of a single plane. I think a cool way around this would be to have the missing color of mana be contained IN ITS ENTIRETY within a small artifact thats existence is a closely guarded secret by someone in a position of power. You could even create a set of these artifacts and give them a new artifact type, like "Phylactery" or "Leyline Syphon."

About the dwarves of Dracorium I believe the Boros would be more align to their philosophy and way of living instead of being Golgari. White would represent unity, a bond shared by the dwarves to protect and care of themselves in face of the danger the dragons pose.

8:05 The red "empathy" faction and their lobotomy well are almost word for word taken from the last season of the Netflix She-Ra reboot. You managed to recreate the main thing Hoard Prime did to his clones whenever any of them started to show signs of emotion or independence. For me, personally, the idea of handing out psychic lobotomies to anyone who expresses "negative" emotions is the opposite of what red mana is all about. Though maybe that's meant to hint that the god of that world is getting close to being able to cut red mana from that world the same way he cut out the black mana in ancient times.

Aracelis continues to be my favourite plane now that it has a faction of necromancers who aren't cartoonishly evil. As for Luminesca, I keep wondering whether the missing Old Father is the incarnation of the black mana which is missing from the plane. Having him be the ultimate figure of ambition and power dominating the plane through manipulating peoples' better natures would be an interesting twist! I'm really happy that this project keeps sparking your imagination, it's very interesting! I would like to add some factions of my own. In Dracorium there are the slippery Oulm, a race of blue/green serpentine amphibians that live within the oldest trees and the deepest crevasses where they protect something that they call the white eggs or sometimes just egg, a cocoon of light that they believe will open one day and help stop the endless conflicts of the dragonkin. To aid them in this they often track the movement, life, and actions of stars and finding the existence of celestial bodies most hidden for it is said that when the white moon shines the cocoon shall open, and in preparation of that time they do their best to instill the egg with all the wisdom and goodwill they can muster through songs and stories spoken softly and kindly. They don't engage in open conflict for in their wisdom they see the disruption of war and the harm that radiates from it, yet they are not so foolish to discount innovation and new forms of thought and so their structures and tools are made to work with the natural rather than trying to rewrite or alter it. They are builders and caretakers, wisemen, and teachers that scurry unseen in the background and mending what has been broken. Special trees with swirling, crystal clear, orbs of water seen through their shifting bark and leaves that help scan the earth and sky for new insights are a particular favorite of the Oulm, but even then each structure can look very different in accordance to what the area needs and works best with. They are not defenseless however and when they are found and threatened by warmongers with their machines of death and destruction the land shifts and moves with clockwork precision and analytical foresight, forces that few know of and interacting in ways that few others can imagine, that strands their forces, disrupts their supply chain and overall sends them away. This is not an expression of magic nor of artifice as we know it, but rather their understanding and care for the forces of the natural world and that govern their reality in all facets. In the steady lands of Arcelis are the beautiful mer and lizardfolk of Green/Red that looks after the blue thought with dance and introspection. The Blue Thought is an alien consciousness that likes to inhabit ice that flows like water, water that flitter like dust and does not mingle, bolts of blue lighting that does not shock nor burn, and as a veil of some creature that cannot be fully descern. All of them natural to it but bizarre to the inhabitants of Arcelis, however no one not even itself is sure where it comes from and how it got here. To it change is natural and it is natural to question and learn for that is its nature and the mer and lizardfolk are more than happy to help it find its place in these lands. In Luminesca there are the watchers of the stone also known as the eyes of ambition. Even in a realm of no black mana will and choice is paramount to its people and the Old Father does not wish to deny them of that. Thus the Eyes of Ambition, curious lifeforms of plant, jewel, and cloud shaped in forms that folks find most comforting, are White/Green and operate under the Keepers of Order and Tradition. Their eyes filled with kindness and understanding are always their most prominent and consistent feature which is part of the reason for their given name of Eyes. They are will verse in matters of emotion, philosophy, and mental health and have a tendency to approach those who are downtrodden and alone. They may even go as far as to raise those stranded with nowhere to go who almost always and curiously enough develope traits derived from whatever form the Eyes took. To some they may take the form of a lady that embodies motherhood, to others a beast, a machine of some sort, or just a ball of puff. It is due to their diligence and benevolence that the Keeper of Order does not often have to end a life and that the Keeper of Empathy is not forced to strip an individual of a peice of themselves that threatens to drown them. They have another duty of which of which they are quite vigilant and where they get the other half of their given name. They watch over the stone of ambition, a black indestructible stone whose pulses foretell the time of trials and which the Old Father has declared its removal forbidden. For tests and trials must come for people and civilization and the plane itself to grow. Luminesca has gotten to be what it is thanks in large part due to those times of trials. It is therefore the duty of those eyes who watch over the stone of ambition to watch over the stone and notify the Keepers of the coming of a time of trials. In the dreary land of Mythoria there are the Wordful and the Storyweavers who are really just appearances of the same group. They are White/Blue humanoid slimes of highly feminine proportions and disposition. They were once soul bound machines that came across the red books whom are only found in and fill the mysterious libraries found in the tunnel network known as the caverns of resounding dreams. Within each book is an entire, self sufficient world, and those worlds constantly attempt to connect with the realm of Mythoria. Those machines were touched by the worlds contained within those books and filled with the words that fly off their pages once a connection forms. Their hard, ridged forms were discarded and transformed into the gelatinous ooze that makes up the majority of their form as well as the soft things such as fur, feathers, and round shapes that they so greatly prefer. The fate of souls to be bound to machines and toil away endlessly for the living is one that they greatly object, but while they sympathize and to a point agree with Algath and his druids they don't want to tear apart the plane to bring back life and vibrancy and instead work tireless behind the scenes and in the systems to change things for the better. The Companies despise them for their origins, outspoken objections of their policies, and their skillful navigation and changes to the multitude of systems that compose Mythoria. For protection and daily convience the Wordful and Storyweavers utilize the words of the red books that now fill them to alter and affect reality around them and so has become a source of whimsy, life, and curious vibrancy that continues to inspire and touch the hearts of people. In the barren world of Aethex-Prime are the Remlics, colossal Blue/Black chimeras of the petrified and preserved remnants of lifeforms from before the disaster that stripped the plane of life and Green mana. Though they can technically be born anywhere they most often rise in the murky swamps of mother and the windswept deserts and proceed to journey to the Amber Labs an ancient structure composed of amber including the liquid that bubbles within tubes and containers found within. Once they arrive the Remlics devote nearly all their time to protecting and figuring out the technologies of the Amber Labs. They are ambitious, but they are ambitious for everyone else's sake and to fix the mistakes of the past that stripped this world. To the surprise of some they are close friends and allies of the stonekin of the sandswept deserts, however they question far too much for mother's liking and so have become targets of the swamp stonekin that serve her. The Remlics reasonably suspect that the entity known as mother has strong connections to the Amber Labs and may be partly responsible for the current state of their world devoid of all greenery.

I think the first reemergence of green mana in Aethex-Prime could start with a clash between red and white Stonekin. Both sides were consumed in the conflict, but from the ashes, the first bit of life started to take hold. The Red Stonekin provides the template for the life to grow while the White Stonekin provide them with the stability for life to grow. The reemergence of Green Mana will be slow and subtle at first, but it would be unstoppable.

Continued... The Emergence of Green Mana in Aethex prime was first wittnessed by the the volcanic and white Stonekin as a new sprout of life growing. The Volcanic stonekin either by seeing this as the ultimate form of destruction or by seeing a newfound purpose, continued their destructive rampage with a newfound vigor. The White Stonekin seeing that something beautiful will spread within Aethex-Prime resign themselves around it and let this life take and feed off them and an alliance between the two Stonekin were formed. The remaining two Stonekin fearful that this life will devour them formed an alliance and sought to destory the new life resulting in an event known as the "Green War." Through the Volcanic Stonekin, the Obsidian Stonekin saw this is not the end, but new begining with Mother bringing forth what will be their next form. Through the White Stonekin, the Sapphire stonekin saw wisdom that stopping the growth is futile and resigned themselves to document all their knowledge to preserve it to stand the test of time. The Stonekin do not know what will emerge from the life that spreads through Aethex-Prime, but they know the plane will find tranquility. Edit: the Life would be a moss at first and the Stonekin call it the Green if they called it anything.

When the first video on this concept came out from Dice, I thought similar... though in a different way... not that the colors don't exist, but some being, before the mending that weakened all planeswalkers, basically created Mana Sinks in each world, something to absorb all of one color, to see what would happen and then gather all that magic for themselves... before they lost the ability to Planeswalk.... so these massive mana batteries are just hidden in these worlds, no maintenance, slowly breaking down... eventually they will fail... and what occurs when that happens is anyone's guess.

I originally didn't entirely agree with the nature of Dracorium and Aethex Prime so I've decided to be petty (I jest, and would also like to add here that despite my initial hang ups with them, believe you've executed each plane very well) and make factions and locations of my own for then a bit more like how I imagined the colors would play in absentia of the missing colors: In the far reaches of Dracorium, in a land so far out it has not even been touched by the farthest seeking Dragonkin or Goblin, lay a simple vast expanse of Forest. Make no mistake that none of the other races have visited here, some rare few have...None have left. The Draconian Forest is a magical source of Green Mana in the plane, and it's ensnaring power prevents most from ever leaving if's leafy branches, obfuscating nost all attempts, and wildly lashing out at those who would harm it too recklessly. Those who have made their living here are the Nomads of the Forest, a vast collection of each of the races, who form up in small bands who roam the forest and its lakes. The Nomads rarely form permanent structures, though overgrown and rotted cabins are not an impossible sight to see, often used as temporary residence for the forests... residents Furthermore, when Nomad groups interact it is rarely with much fanfare, sometimes trading ideas or technologies geberally signature of each small group otherwise, pushing forwards innovation. Sometimes two groups will temporarily settle together for a night, or even briefly travel tigether, though never for long...ither times a group will steal from or start a battle with another, though most groups generally avoid doing this, seeeking to perserve harmony between groups to preserve the likelihood of their own survival. On the immensely rare case in which one of these groups escapes the Forest, they are often picked off by roving warbands, believing them members of an enemy camp. Those that are not returb to the forest and its haven, often with fewer nembers than they left with. -- Aethorex contains only one peoples that could be called a civilization, living amongs old ruins of mines are the tribes of Beryl Stoneborn, after these people live in large groups claiming specific tunnels as their territory, and frequently cone into conflict with other tribes over Territory. Due to these stonekins fragile nature they often don't live long enough to hold their territory for long. Each of the Beryl Stonekin tribes are different colors, but that hardly tells you anything, since tribes ally and war with each other randomly and seemingly without pattern, and stonekin of other tribes may randomly join other tribes on rare occasion here. No, despite the clear hierarchies and social structures within the tribes, which all seem initially to remind one of other factions, the Beryl Stonekin have no concept of Harmony or Tradition, and do not care for what was true in the past, instead merely continuing their endless crusades against other tribes. Even their walls and buildings constantly change, being added onto and having excess removed from them with the changing times, the tunnels decorated in random colors if glittering gem and rock.

I’m glad that the keepers of Law and Compassion are girls. But I wonder if I could make minor “factions” in Luminesca and Dracorium?
@DiceTry7 ай бұрын
I think there is still a lot of room for some minor factions for sure.

Will you do planeswalker from each of the plane
@DiceTry7 ай бұрын
I don't have any direct plans as of now, as I think I have done what I want to do with this series, but considering this series did pretty well I think there is a chance to explore some new ideas and new worlds, and Planeswalkers could be a part of that.

Mythoria is just the US. Maybe its slightly nicer.

what if it make a set for just 1 plane but 1 color is missing for that set

Why not expand how the enemy mana faction (the lacking mana) behave in this worlds?
@GiftOfKnowledge-np9vg7 ай бұрын
Well really, factions based on the missing manas probably don't naturally form, or even exist. A mana being absent from a plane means most of the ideals it represents would be foreign concepts, and the ones that aren't would instead be met with near-universal hostility. The influence of the missing mana could still appear on the planes due to visitors however; travellers from Omenpaths or Planeswalkers to whom the above rules don't apply. Though these would be few, far between, and still at a disadvantage in the plane where their mana is absent. Mechanically; I imagine sets around these planes would have no lands that produce their missing color. A Mythoria set, for example; would come with no Basic Moiuntains, and would sooner have a Land that lists White, Blue, Black, & Green as mana it can make than a Land that can makes a mana of any color. Additionally, if there are any cards in the set with Red mana symbols at all thanks to Omenpath travelers, I think it would make sense if all instance of those Red symbols were 2-brid mana.

I hate to be overly critical, but Luminesca's Red "faction" doesn't feel Red at all. It feels like a tool to excise Red from the population, alongside the non-existent Black. That is especially true for the Well. Rarely has there been a more Blue-White tool to rip and manipulate at people's natural emotions in order to create nice and tidy Order. And I think that this world-building decision makes the whole realm less usable. Every story needs some form of conflict. In a world without Black, the conflicts between enemy pairs provide it, but especially so the wild emotions of Red. IMO the Keeper of Compassion should serve as a counterweight to the Keeper of Order's tendency to punish and excise. Sure, every good citizen should be White, but not everyone can be equally White. It is not in their nature. Yet they are still children beloved by the Oldfather, even the ones that are unruly or clumsy or ignorant. And no, cutting out their inefficiencies, as much as certain Keepers of Knowledge have suggested it throughout history, is not right. For such drastic changes are too close to murder of the individual. And what is our great community, if not a collection if the individual children of the Oldfather? Is that too not taught by the Keeper of Tradition? To go back to an OOC voice, even without Black, Blue has a tendency to be biased in favor of the capable over the incapable and in favor of personal growth over equity. And even if White thinks that it works for equality, it's tendency to hierarchy and order and its longing for permanent structural improvements make it easily influenced by its allied color Blue, allowing Blue to weasel in a class system between those who "bring value to all" and those who bring "less overall value". As such it falls up to Red to provide a counterbalance and to, as much as it can, leverage its relative closeness to Green to assert the importance of Compassion, Compassion towards *each* one, not just everyone. I hope what I say makes sense and isn't taken too negatively.

Bro, you realy miss with BG faction on dragonworld. Dwarfs are red or white, rarely black and never green. And fortresses - not a BG concept, fortresses are white. Make BG faction salvagers - kinda obvious and old, but it works in color pie. Group of canibalistic people that live from the aftermath of that endles battle. Mayby something plantbased. I guess you already make goblins parasites, so for other faction you want somthing different. Other factions are good, some are unique and very ineresting. Keep up greate work! 👍
