as an art school graduate who worked with a fair share of life models (mostly classmates but still), "beauty standards" nowadays are SO BORING TO DRAW, which makes me absolutely disinterested from people who follow them, at least men. Straight nose? No interesting shape. "Ideal" face? All look the same, all bore us. It's not just my opinion, we had so many discussions on that with my old classmates both during school and after 😂

I think I made this comment before, that Trump's face is harder to draw than a kpop idol's. It's like the less features you have, the prettier you are supposed to be (not saying Trump is secretly good looking lol, just pointing out how his face is interesting). It seems people just want to look like a bland anime protagonist these days. An oval face, perfectly textureless skin, big eyes, a line for a lip and a small triangle for a nose.

Everyone wants to look exactly the same. Actually, everyone wants perfection, but most people's idea of perfection are similar due to online trends, and it's so boring, the world needs variation. We are so used to filters and editing and even surgery, that most people don't even know what a natural body/face looks like anymore. It's getting so depressing tbh...

There was a Twilight Zone episode of a world where everyone got plastic surgery when they were a certain age, and you had to pick from a face in a book. Everybody had to do it, and only the faces in the book were allowed. One girl did not want to do it, and ran away to avoid changing her face. In the end, they caught her and when she woke up, she had one of the faces from the book. I just cannot forget that episode, it turns out it predicted the future.

But now the dating market reflects that looking like a walking skid mark will sully your chances of a relationship regardless of having the cure to cancer. So looksmaxx or cope with getting zero bitches were the options men are left with, without the advantage of starting from young like most women.

The scary thing is, that all these people using filters to "enhance" their appearance, are already stunning! They'd easily make anyone take a second glance, but seeing how insecure they are (not their fault - we as a society have failed to make people appreciate natural beauty) that have to resort to filters (not to mention how they are now considered "common" or even "essential" for photography) is just sad :( Worse is, that the people in their comment sections encourage this behaviour leading the creator to think that their real self isn't "ideal" or "desirable" enough, and that they need to keep up the facade of being "perfect", no matter if it comes at the cost of their physical or mental health (more often both)

honestly I'm sooo sick of the height standard... when I was a kid/teen I thought tall boys were hotter just bc of like... comp-het & media, I guess?? But as an adult nearly all the guys I think are the most attractive are medium/short; if anything, tallness is a slight negative point that would have to be won over by personality because I don't enjoy feeling physically intimidated (which I guess is weird of me since it's still normal to idealize tall guys but idk what's so great about it - it's just unnecessarily scary when someone has too much physical power over me, and I hate sports, so I don't really see the objective appeal in tall/buff guys. Maybe I'm just a weird traumatized bisexual but I like feeling closer to an equal and would pick "cute" over "manly" every time :T)
@teissi

Tallness in men is sooooo overrated. I'm dating a guy who is slightly taller than me yet short for those standards (1.69 vs me being 1.56) and honestly him being taller would be for the worse. We're very affectionate with each other and I'd rather have him closer to my level for all the hugs and kisses we share. If he was 6ft we'd both end the day with neck pain 😂

@grischad20 Ай бұрын
@Pilzn99z that was meant as a joke mostly. but still, understand that you as an average height male in your country mean you're taller than 75% of the women in your country (roughly 50% with heels). i as a bottom 25% height in my country (168 cm in france) means i'm taller than 50% of women without heels. and most of'em do wear heels (or some form of platform shoe). at the end of the day i have a girlfriend and don't really mind, but in a pure number's game, you might not be winning, but you're not losing any on that front. also, you have that magic "6 feet" label anyway which internet women have hailed as the entry point

I think some of the people forget that different people consider different things attractive. For example, one of my favourite types of noses are wide with big nose drills or the crooked ones. And on the contrary I find the upturned noses not very attractive (there are exceptions of course). Also, as an artist I think that "non-ideal" facial features are making a person look more interesting. And why we are so concentrated on looks anyway? I will consider you beautiful if I like you, I'm used to you and you interest me. Because everyone can be beautiful without changing their looks, everyone has something both in their physical appearance and in their personality to attract someone.
