So you see the shoes, you ask 1-2 questions per person and then you eliminate someone. The Korean one definitely felt like non-sexual objectification. In that it's meant to be based on their fashion, the Korean guys were weirdly focused on their body parts, instead. Like the hands and having a 'small face.' I think that's the biggest difference between the two. The American guy was asking them questions about their life to also get a gauge on their personalities. But, the girls in the Korean video were only asked questions about their appearance. Sucks, because I really LOVED all of the outfits that the girls were wearing in the Korean one. So, I was hoping their fashion would be discussed a little more.
@annasin902 жыл бұрын
True! Except, very often in American videos like that they ask personality questions not to come off as shallow and then do a very shallow thing by choosing the hottest person at the end anyway. 😂 I love that Koreans are still respectful but upfront about their priorities. Even if those preferences are super specific and unusual. :)
@notyourdays2 жыл бұрын

@blu4get2 жыл бұрын
Ngl tho the personality questions that the American guy asked were really off-putting for some reason. If a guy interrogated me like that I would be happy to not get picked by him. At the end I felt like all of the girls came away with a bad impression of the guy choosing. The whole exercise in both videos was essentially to judge someone based exclusively on their looks. But honestly I felt like the Korean video came at it in a more honest and playful way, where it just seemed like a fun game. The guys were very polite, and tried to distribute their compliments evenly. Plus all of the focus on "body parts" as you say was really centered around trying to extrapolate what the people looked like without being able to see their whole body, which is a natural thing to be curious about in an exercise like this. I think it also makes a difference that the guys were idols, and therefore can't display any really personal interest in the contestants that might seem legitimately attraction-based. But because regardless of whether it was the American version or the Korean version, the videos are inherently shallow, I actually found the straightforwardness more appealing. The weird "outfit AND personality" smokescreen the American video had going on just ended up emphasizing the way that he ultimately favored the thin, blonde, conventionally attractive white girl, regardless of who "won" by surviving the eliminations. I also kind of got a "solidarity from mutually disliking a guy" from the girls at the end of the American video. "It's giving 'mommy issues'" sent me lmao. Also no shade towards the first girl from the American video. She was very sweet, and had a nice outfit. Honestly I think she dodged a bullet by being eliminated first asdfghjkl
@annasin902 жыл бұрын
@@blu4get I agree with your take on the Korean videos - a playful, fun dating game. The editing is funny. XD Interesting that you say that about the guy. Incels on the other hand act exactly like the American guy did by being upfront that they think women are a certain way based in arbitrary traits like what they’re wearing, and feel threatened whenever a woman threatens their male ego by either being taller than them, making more money than then, not worshipping them, etc.

I have to say, I used to watch jubilee in my freshman year of high school. But then as I grew up I realized that jubilee just wasn't it. Everything they do seems really fake/inauthentic. I do currently watch Look Gate on Zamster, the Korean one. I actually saw them use the format of the blinds first. I actually still really enjoy their content. It still seems very fabricated and of course the participants are only there for exposure, but I find that the people picking are often a lot nicer about their opinions on the clothing, they are eloquent, you can tell they are having fun with it, and they do get their assumptions right many times. They are much better at picking up on details that may imply something about a person. Also, I've noticed that the fashion they wear is pretty much usually very different from one another for the people under the blinds. Even if they all have a similar style, they all have a pretty good variation in the way they emphasize one thing over another on Zamster. And the way the contestants are revealed at the end is much better in my opinion as well. Whereas, from what I saw in the Jubilee version, the styles were mostly all some chunky shoes, variation of jeans, and trendy top. They are for different audiences, but I generally think Zamster does a better job at making it fun to watch.

Don’t change. The moment you start dressing down because everyone else is doing it and you don’t feel like you fit in, will be the time you see a guy well dressed and you look like crap. just be yourself , dress nice and naturally if you meet a guy that’s the same you’ll feel connected to each other

12:49 besides the few alt fashion outliers, almost everyone dresses the same here in Japan, ESPECIALLY in the winter time. Summer is a bit different story.
@catmerchant86992 жыл бұрын
And it seems like those girls are happy to fit in, right? Although there may be some pressures to always buy clothes for trends, I can’t see anything inherently wrong with it. Japanese clothes in general are quite famous for being good quality and having beautiful designs.

Idk how to explain this. But in my country, among young people there are two very popular styles. People either have a very American style or a very Korean style. And as someone who doesn't really follow fashion trends strictly, it's pretty interesting to be on the outside looking in.

We get our nutrients by absorbing make up, of course! That is why we have to apply it every morning. If you ever see a girl without make up, that means she's already absorbed it today.

Gosh that first guy had (in my opinion) literally no taste in clothing. The girl with the overall had such style, cool and comfortable but also confident (pretty much what he described he wanted... and then he went for the more business-like and possibly most boring outfit). Also why didn't he ask these women about CLOTHES ? And appearance ? Like, the topic of the video ?! For example why would they like trousers over skirts, or what they want from a pair of shoes...

I love that Korean channel. Watch a bunch of stuff there. The people are always well dressed n polite. Yes, it's superficial n sometimes Korean culture can seem a bit vain but i'm kinda used to it n they produce very entertaining videos. Besides, d ppl r all there for social or professional exposure so it's a win win situation if u can look pass the vanity issue. N if u like stuff like this, Hiteenager is another Korean channel that might be up your alley. Jubilee used to be entertaining to me but they got a bit meh n questionable(?).

Why is no one commenting on the american guy absolute lack of fashion sense and pretends he is into women who can dress while being dress like an half-backed potato? Nothing bad being dressed like he is, but pretending to have a fashion sense... As a non american person I am deeply puzzled by this...

I feel like America thinks they WANT people who are different, but then they see something different and shame them. I'm more talking about body figures where people in America want to accept people of all body types, but when they see a person who doesn't have curves or a big butt they immediately call them flat or anorexic. I'm more on the younger side and I like the Korean style where you dress up more, but I don't attract anybody my age because most guys my age want the same look of having a crop top and sweatpants look. It's just the trend and I can't blame people for having a personal preference though.
