I remember when they did a show at CB-GBs back in the 90s. They played under the name "The Blessed Chloroform", and the percussion/rhythm section shook the building! So awesome, your uncle's playing
@djbrando202 Жыл бұрын
Excellent! I was practicing drums today and specifically noticed Your uncle because h was seemlessly hitting the cool drum part as the main drummer was playing really simply. As I’m just a few years into learning the drums, I’m really paying close attention to how great bands and drummers do their thing… percussionists… huge advantage for certain grooves and feels.🤙🤘

This was the exact show that made me fall in love with the Allman Brothers, even though they weren't there. I was a big Skynyrd fan already and didn't really get the Allmans, but somehow the ways the Crowes jammed made me feel like going home and discovering the Allman Brothers. I guess it was this open jam style that felt so good!!

You mentioned Skynyrd so I have a cool story. Skynyrd came to Atlanta and played the Mableton Theater before they were big. Ronnie Van Zant met my mom's friend and hooked up with her at my parents apartment after the show. After that Ronnie knew who my parents were every time they came to Atlanta. 😂😂😂

Saw them open for the Dead at Tampa Stadium on this tour, April 1995. They were fantastic, even though the stadium was less than 1/4 full for most of their set. Loved them since they opened for Plant in ‘90.🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼
@J0hnGalt7310 ай бұрын
I was at that Tampa show. We came down from Ohio, I think that was either the last or second to last show of the Dead's Spring tour of 1995. The last they played with Jerry. We stayed at this unlicensed campground that got shutdown by Pasco County. As we were driving back from the show, there was like a mile of blue and red lights lining the road, breathalyzer stations, dogs, it was a fuckin' mess. Ended up having to break camp and drive across the state to watch the sunrise on Daytona Beach with the last of our 65lb tank of nitrous. What a trip...

And to be honest with you, could not have picked a better example for your learning of true music and a sound all in it's own ☺️ I mean, this band was able to come up with there own sound and style of music. Black crows are one of those bands who would not in any way shape or form fall in line with most of the other bands who gave there sounds to the big wigs in the music business. Nope, these guys were all about playing there way, style . Not for the big money like most the other ones. And I tell ya,I myself am so glad they stuck to there guns and didn't waver

I was at this show and would check them out every time they would play anywhere near the SF Bay Area which was frequently. They always put on a great show and they were never as good as with the original lineup. If anybody knows where to find footage of them at Laguna Seca Daze (LSD) at Laguna Seca, CA, please let me know. LSD was a 3-day festival that would be scheduled on Memorial Day Weekend at Laguna Seca, CA. It ran for about a decade and had bands like Grateful Dead, Indigo Girls, etc. The one I am looking for was George Clinton and P-Funk, Black Crowes, and Bob Dylan. It was a phenominal show. It was mine and my son's mother's first date, we ran into my aunt and her boyfriend there, and I remember that the weather was unusually warm. The atmosphere and crowd was awesome and when the Crowes were playing Wiser Time, the sun was setting behind the stage. It is one of my greatest memories!

That was '94, I believe. Crowes headlined it from early August in St. Louis all the way through to the west coast after opening for Page/Plant and the Stones all summer in Europe. They were at the peak of their powers, although the cocaine vocals here from CR shows why it was a lot of touring and this was the last show of the '95 run.
