A great song by a great band. The refence to "the lock of hair from a little boy" and "she talks to angels... they call her out by name"... leads me to believe she had a child of her's die.. and it's a lock of hair from that little boy... and he's now an angel and when she is "high".... she senses him call out to her, by name.

I've seen so many drug addicts that burn all of their support bridges, especially their families, for the sake of the high. But I've also witnessed people go through a recovery through Christ and at their graduation from the program, most of their families were back to support them. A very deep and meaningful feeling to see families reunited. Nice reaction and analysis.

I think the reason sad songs have so much impact is because everyone has pain, so people can relate to songs about pain, and even if the pain in the song is a different kind of pain than the listener has experienced, pain is still pain, and grief is still grief. Songs about pain remind us that we're not alone in our pain, and there is comfort in that. Not comfort that others are suffering (which would be psychotic 😂), but comfort in knowing we are not alone. Music can express that common bond in a way that other mediums can't, turning a sad song into something like an old friend, something that is loved. And that's why sad songs can be so great, contrary to what we might otherwise expect 👍🙂

One of my all time favorite bands! Been a fan since the beginning and I have seen them many times in many different cities. I even got to meet them a couple years ago. This is a great song with a deep message and is one of their top hit songs commercially. However, they have a ton of great songs that many may not even know about. I can suggest deeper cut songs that are just as every bit as good as this one. Thank you so much for this one and I sincerely hope you continue reacting to them! LONG LIVE THE CROWES!

One of my favorite songs, has a lot of meanings. Harmful addictions are the scourge of our modern society, we've moved far beyond alcohol...a slow killer, to the new and improved drugs that will kill you instantly after building up a bit of tolerance. Opioids kill about 350,000 people each year. Every year, since medical opioids became "public", the universal dosage has raised 500% worldwide. All the best. Cheers.

Yes - it's about addiction - she feels all alone, and the shot is what gets her through the day (despite the pain) - she once gave birth to a boy that was taken from her - and there's prostitution - now she's just waiting for the end... Hopelessness. Sadness. What a song!

About the same time that The Black Crows were getting famous, the band The Scream released their debut album in 1991. The song “Father, Mother, Son”, is an absolutely fantastic song about loss. Drug addiction is a brutal thing. I’m in my late 50s and I think all my issues started about the time I was seven or eight years old, that was the first drink of alcohol I ever tasted from my dad. By the time I was 13, late 70s, I was already smoking weed and drinking. Two years later, at the age of 15 I added a whole bunch of cocaine, speed, pills, acid, and mushrooms. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to stay away from heroin only because I have a fear of needles. Fortunately, for me, my ex got pregnant when I was 25 and that’s when I sobered up. I decided to be a father instead of a drug addict. It’s something you never get over, and you constantly have to fight the battle day after day, but life is worth it. My children are worth it. The one thing I believe that helps more than anything for me is music. This came out about the time I sobered up in 1991. 28 years later, I’m still sober and I’m still loving life more than I ever have. My children, my family and my music are what keeps me going. I always enjoy your reactions. Thank you for another good one.👏👏👏👏👏
