I’m so happy that this song is more exploratory and risky than anything they’ve done so far. I can imagine the temptation to retreat to roots would be super potent after that tragedy but it looks like TBDM lost no footing despite it all. Don’t care if it’s blasphemy or not. I respect Death, Cannibal Corpse and the OGs, but I still say Black Dahlia are the goats of North American death metal in the ultimate canon of it all.
