@@walkingman8943Oh no, how dare they make a more mainstream song (which musically is true to their roots) to support their career 🤦🏻‍♂️ Mate, making art costs a lot. Even your favourite actor starring in indie movies has to appear in a shitty big budget one to afford keep making indie movies

@@walkingman8943bro they "sold out" by Attack and Release, in a way that attracted many of us fans, then they returned to their roots wholesale on Delta Cream and Dropout. Absolutely killing it still.

In my youth id hang out in record stores all day. Like the comic shop was next door to the record store and i could literally maje an entire day out of discoverying new comics and albums. I went on to be a entertainment critic for a major publication and i got to see first hand how labels treated takented artist vs popular artist. Wed get packets from labels pushing some shiny idiot but buried in the mail in essentially paper and twine was the artist with creativity and skill who they were uncertain of and I LOVED reviewing these albums and pushing them with glowing reviews

Patrick speaks the truth. That’s why there’s so much shit music being shoved in our faces. It’s the promoters from the big record labels trying to spoon feed it to the public. I know good music when I hear it and a lot of what I listen to is not promoted by big industry record labels. Artist like The Black Keys, Deftones, Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool, Radiohead and PJ Harvey have it figured out and put out amazing shit that fans gravitate toward because it’s raw, brilliant and powerful and sounds amazing. This is what the people want, not the next big hit from a no name, manufactured by the label, shit band. You can smell that crap a mile away. I’m proud of this band. They’ve put out some truly amazing music and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them play live a few times right here in their home state and mine, Ohio 🫶🏼

i like the black keys music. that being said, i went into a bit of a deep dive of they’re live performances and they actually suck so bad. like im not trying to be edgy, if you know anything about playing you can tell from a few clips their terrible. i dont even think they practice their instruments. it’s not to say what he’s saying isn’t true, but pat is probably the worst drummer of any band even close to their caliber. seriously guys watch some videos of their live performance. so long you watch some, i could easily tell you if you know the slightest thing about music based on your response after listening. i’ll still listen to their albums, but when it’s your only job, you’d imagine these guys would practice. i’m more drum oriented so maybe the guitarist isn’t bad, idk. but these guys don’t even mix their fucking music. like they must completely skip sound check, or the engineer is deaf, idk see for urself. i just found this out the other night but have been listening to them for years

I would understand this coming from their vocalist/guitarist, but the drummer of the black keys implying songwriters arent "real," or lack talent is a bit hypocritical. Of course if somebody enjoys what they do and others enjoy it thats great! But saying its not "real," out of jealousy when he really can't play his instrument the way a "professional," does to begin with is odd. Idk, people don't give metal the credence I wish they would nowadays but Im not gonna shit on a rapper or songwriter because of it.

Hey, people will consume what you put in front of them. Even better when it’s quality. The issue is that it’s easy to drop rap albums and songs after rap albums and songs. Streamings is about volume. If there’s more to stream, less money for the rappers, but a tons of cash for the labels. Streaming messed things up.

Bro they showed them selves worthy of investing what there saying is the music labels are more willing to give a SoundCloud rapper a chance over actually bands because they don’t know how to quantify if their music is good and worth putting money into, and if they do put money into the actual bands they will act very sketchy and try to rip them off if they get successful this happens a lot with rock bands like Metallica who you mentioned
